Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.269 Just some packs

CH.269 Just some packs

It was now the day after I woke up from my evolution. We would have to eventually leave the dungeon, and go back to interacting with other people, but it would still take me a few days to make sure this dungeon would be unconquerable. Well, it already basically is, but it could be just a bit more difficult. I’d like to have at least five SS-rank monsters protecting it, instead of just one. So because of that, I asked for us to stay a bit longer. It also allowed me to get familiar with the dungeon’s properties.

It honestly could do a ton. One of my favorite features was its ability to alter its size freely, by bending space. … bad explanation. What I meant is that the ‘overworld’ size, or the size the dungeon appeared to be when looked at from the outside, didn’t have to match the inside size. This was something I already thought might be the case, because of all of those forest and other environmental floors, but it went a lot further than that.

If I wanted to, I could compress this entire dungeon into something that was no larger than a standard single family home. I could potentially go even further, taking it to the size of being only the size of a single room, when looked at from the outside, while at the same time being the same size inside the dungeon. That is some space magic heresy right there. … but maintaining that spatial compression took a ton of mana, so it wasn’t perfect. And the cost would ramp up, the more I compressed it. That is why I could only compress the dungeon into something the size of a house. That was the spot where the dungeon’s natural mana recovery and the cost of keeping the compression up would meet. But of course that would mean I’ll have no mana left over for anything else, so I won’t be doing that.

And while I do have that one crazy idea, I think it will have to wait a bit. Because at this moment, I want to open some packs. I just feel like doing so.

Joined on the couch by Alice and Lua, I was just going to do some of every of the newer packs I had. The Lost Millennium, Cybernetic Revolution and Elemental Energy. Maybe like ten of each, then just leave the fully completing of them to Laura. Maybe.

But let’s just start.

Use a ‘Pack token’ to open 1 pack of ‘The Lost Millennium’
[Yes] [No]

I haven’t opened any Lost Millennium packs with Alice and Lua. I only opened some with Laura, Tahlia and Fantasia. Let’s hope we get something good. Maybe Thunder Giant and Clayman.

Spoiler

Oh yeah. Batterman AA is in this set. I did get one last time, but I never really thought about it. Considering that I can summon way too many of the same monster, I could do something like summon ten Batterman AA and have all of them be at 10,000 attack.

“Brian? Isn’t this the hero you used in a fusion?” Alice asked, pointing out Burstinatrix.

“Yeah. I did. Well done spotting it.” I complimented her, considering Alice had all of five seconds to take in Burstinatrix before it was consumed by the Polymerization vortex. “A lot of the HERO monsters like fusions, so that does happen a lot. Remember when I told you about archetypes. Well, HEROes are a fusion based archetype, so they have a lot of fusions.”

“What kind of archetype are Vampires?” Lua then asked. “If these archetypes are good at something, what are they good at?”

“Well, if I recall correctly, they are good at coming back from the GY, like most Zombies are, and they also pay life points for their effects, while recovering life points when they deal damage, almost like they are succing the opponents blood to recover. They also have this mill effect, which isn’t that good in more modern decks.”

“Mill? What does milling have to do with this?”

“... it's just a term used to describe sending cards from the deck to the GY.”

“oh? Alright… But why would that not be good? And why would it be good?”

“Well, it comes down to the game you can play with the cards. One way to win is to mill, or deck out, the opponent. If you cannot draw a card, either when a card forces them to do so, or during their draw phase, you lose the duel. So if you can mill cards from your opponents deck, they might deck out, and you will win. But a lot of decks want to have a lot of cards in the GY, so it isn’t that good.”

“Why would you want to have cards in the grave?” Alice asked.

“While I don’t have that many of them, some cards have effects that can only be activated when they are in the GY. Because of that, you might want them there, instead of in your deck.” I explained. “You’ll understand more if we ever actually play some games. But let’s get back to the packs for now.”

I decided to bring us back on track, before I explain the entire game to them. In all honesty, it will be so much easier to just learn as we go, instead of throwing out all of these terms and conditions at the start. That is how you get overwhelmed.

So, next pack.

Spoiler

“And there is the Clayman.” I commented.

“Why is that important?” Alice asked.

“I just didn’t have it yet. And I do need it for Thunder Giant. … not that I have a Thunder Giant yet, but hopefully I can get one.”

“Yes. Hopefully.”

Spoiler

Elemental Mistress Doriado, huh. That’s an interesting card. I wonder if I could do something funny with her. She is treated as having five attributes, so maybe?

“... Brian? Why are you looking at that card like that?” Lua asked. “... do you just … like blond hair that much?”

“I appreciate any color of hair, you know.” I told her, as I brought my hand closer to her hair. I stopped just a few centimeters away, and let Lua press her head into my hand, before softly running my hand through her hair. “It isn’t about the color. Or the length. It is about the person it grows from.” … wow. That sounded better in my head. Well, it isn’t a bad thing to say, but it still sounded wrong.

“Brian! Mine too.” Alice demanded, as she pushed her head into me.

“Sure.” I agreed.

I stroked both of the girls' hair, and navigated Pack Opener with my mind. Next pack, let’s go.

Spoiler

“Is that the golem you used against Mariina?” Lua asked.

“No. I used Ancient Gear Golem, not Soldier. Golem is quite a lot larger than Soldier, and Golem doesn’t have a gun.”

“Oh? I see.” Lua muttered. “But this … set does seem to have a lot of golems, doesn’t it?”

“Yeah. I guess it does.”

And we can get some more, because it is time for the next pack.

Spoiler

Millennium Scorpion, huh. It isn’t bad, but not something I really want to use. But maybe I could use it as a monster to protect this dungeon. Feed it like ten monsters, and it will be so strong that no one can beat it.

Well, I’ll think about it.

Spoiler

Well, that is all repeats, next.

Spoiler

“There it is. Thunder Giant. Nice.”

“Is it that good? It has quite low attack, right? It is only as strong as my Red-Eyes Black Dragon, so it would lose to Dark Magician and Buster Blader, right? And Dark Paladin would just … easily defeat it, wouldn’t it?”

“... well yes, but it is still a good card.” I told her. “It isn’t always just about the number. Equip spells can easily make up that difference. … but yeah. Even then, Thunder Giant is no Dark Paladin. I just like how he looks.”

Hero Signal is also interesting. I think, and this is just a theory, but I think I can use it to farm HERO monsters. Summon a HERO, have a monster destroy it by battle, activate Signal, Signal gives me a random HERO monster. Use something to recover the HERO lost in battle, or just wait until its death cooldown is over. It is a bit cruel, but it should work, I think.

Anyway. Before these crazy ideas take over, next pack.

Spoiler

Well, at least Grave Ohja is new. That is all I’m going to say about that. Next.

Spoiler

Again, at least Royal Surrender is good. It still isn’t that great, but I guess it is at least better than Grave Ohja. Next. This will be the last pack of The Lost Millenium for today, so let’s hope for something good.

Spoiler

“And there is the Gear Golem. That is a great get, before we move to another set.”

“... isn’t it … stronger than a Blue-Eyes White Dragon?” Alice asked.

“Well, I guess it does have more defense, but their attacks are the same, so… in a way, yes.”

Anyway, time to change sets. Time for some Cybernetic Revolution. Could use a Cyber Dragon. Or three. I want to summon that End Dragon I got.

Spoiler

Well, that is already all repeats, next.

Spoiler

Well, at least Wroughtweiler is new. And it isn’t awful, it is just… not something I need. But it is a mechanical good boy, so it would still get headpats.

Maybe I can pull Skyscraper, so I can make a HERO room in the factory.

Spoiler

Another pack of repeats. Ebon Magician Curran might be something I could give to Alice, but at the same time, I’m not sure how I feel about her studying under a sadistic whip wielder. I don’t really want to get whipped.

Next.

Spoiler

UFOroid and Transcendent Wings. Not bad. Well, UFOroid is still mediocre, but I could maybe use it in some things. Also, why is it level 6? That thing really should have been level 4, like basically every other ‘When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 xxx-Type monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Deck in face-up Attack Position.’ Like honestly. Who gave this UFO two extra stars? Or did it bring those stars from outer space?

“... Brian… Those wings… Could they be the ones I had in my dream?” Lua asked, pointing out the Transcendent Wings.

“... I suppose they could be. But you are the one who saw yourself, so I can’t really tell. I can have Laura and Mia look into what installing that will do, if you’d like.”

“... no. We can wait.”

“Sure. If you don’t want to.”

But I know what I want. Next pack.

Spoiler

All four of the Spiritual Arts in one pack. Cool. But they are all still repeats, so… Next pack.

Spoiler

Fire Darts is new. And it might actually… okay, let’s be honest. It is trash, but at least it is better than it is in the Card Game. Maybe.

Next.

Spoiler

“Is that … no. It only has two heads, and doesn’t have wings.” Lua said, as she noticed the Cyber Twin Dragon.

“Yeah. Cyber Dragon has both a double and a triple fusion. End Dragon needs three, while Twin needs two. … but I still don’t have any Cyber Dragons, so I can’t summon them.”

“Let’s hope we get some then.” Alice said.

“Yes. Let’s.” I agreed.

Spoiler

Another pack of repeats. Next.

Spoiler

Another pack of repeats. But Spark Blaster actually gave me an idea. Maybe I can reverse engineer it and make a taser, or something. And considering what Spark Blaster does, it might actually be good.

Well, add that to my ToDo list. Next pack. Last of Cybernetic Revolution for today. Let’s get that Cyber Dragon, or at least a Skyscraper.

Spoiler

… nope. But I did get a Miracle Fusion as a consolation prize, so not all is bad. Miracle Fusion is a great card when playing Yugioh, but it isn’t that great for me. I can just get the materials and Poly out of my collection and summon the fusion I want to summon, without having to banish anything.

Anyway. I think a short snack break is in order, then let’s do ten packs of Elemental Energy.

Spoiler

Well, starting off strong with the Ultimate Rare Jack’s Knight. Sadly I already have a Rare Jack’s Knight, so all it really serves is collection purposes, but that isn’t the cards fault. And at the end of the day, a complete collection is a good collection. And maybe I can use Jack’s Knight as my sword teacher?

Spoiler

Followed by a Super Rare Water Dragon. It isn’t that I don’t like them, but I’d appreciate it more if they were something I don’t have, instead of being different rarity printings of cards I already do have. Please. Don’t eat up my SR and UR slots with repeats.

Spoiler

Well, at least Wynn is new. King’s Knight is not. Give me the Queen. I don’t have that one yet.

Spoiler

… no. What kind of nightmare is The League of Uniform Nomenclature? Get that out of here!

Next! NEXT!

Spoiler

Okay. What is that? I ask you to go away, and instead The League of Uniform Nomenclature just comes back, but brings Bladedge and Queen’s Knight as apology gifts? Are you trying to bribe me into liking you? … fine. Bribe accepted. You are a good card, and you don’t have to go away.

But I do still want the next pack.

Spoiler

All repeats here, next.

Spoiler

Pot of Avarice, nice. Not only is it a new Super Rare, it is also super useful. I can use it to return stuff from my GY to the collection, canceling out their death cooldown. And I even get pack tokens while doing so. Sure I already had some from the Machine Re-Volt  Structure Deck, but I’ll take it.

Three more. Next.

Spoiler

Another repeat pack. Next.

Spoiler

Well, this one isn’t. Hero Barrier, huh. Not bad, not bad. Sadly, Negate Attack is just so much better, that I’ll never use it, but at least it is not a repeat.

One more to go. Let’s see if the Goddess can bless me with one more SR or UR.

Spoiler

She can! She most definitely can. Cyber Blader is actually great. And while the effect gains based on the number of opponents might not be the best, because she can’t have all three effects at the same time, it is still great. Definitely going to summon her soon.

Honesty, what a way to call it a day. Great packs are great.

Tomorrow… Well, I think I might look at that one structure deck I got access to… maybe.

(Laura, you can take over those sets now. Please get all the cards from them. And make sure I have a good number of Cyber Dragons.) I requested.

(Of course. I’ll have it done in the coming days.)
