Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.220 People having their first dragon flight

I woke up in the morning. Again, what a surprise. Well, that means I’m not evolving. I decided to still take a look at my status, just to make sure nothing strange is going on.

Spoiler

Yeap. Everything is normal… Except the leveled up Different Dimension Factory. … I don’t know if I’m happy or sad about this, but I’ll accept it. But it does still feel a bit like Fantasia is stealing the power I would use to evolve just so she can level herself up. But she is cute, so I’ll forgive her.

Well, let’s just jump into the factory and see what has changed.

“Papa!” Fantasia jumped at me before I could even open the eyes of my avatar. I took her into my arms and opened my eyes.

She still looked similar to what she had looked like, except that I think she might have grown a bit. Previously, I would have guessed her to be between 5 and 6 years old, but now, she is more like 7. Her light brown hair was about as long as it had been previously and her eyes were still the same green shimmering color that they had been.

“Morning, Fantasia. You leveled up.”

“Yes. Papa, am I amazing?”

“Yes. Yes you are. Do you know what new things you can do?”

“New..? I can have papa here for longer!” She exclaimed.

“Here for longer?” I questioned.

“Yes. Papa won’t have to go back so soon.”

… yeah. I have no clue what that means.

“I might be able to explain better.” Laura said, as she realized next to us. “It means that the time dilation effect between this space and the real world has amplified. At level 2, this world was 1.2 times faster than the outside world, but now it is 1.6 times faster.”

“Oh? So that is what she meant. Anything else?”

“We were able to make the connection to other users more stable, so Miss Lucia should have better visuals when she comes in. I think we might even be able to think about bringing others without a system support here, if Fantasia levels up to LV.4.”

“Okay. That’s good. What kind of quality are we talking about?”

“I’ll just show you.” Laura said, and entered my body.

My vision blurred a bit and it got … slow. No. Not slow. Frame-y. Like trading from a 144hz computer monitor to a 60hz monitor. I couldn’t see as ‘fast’. Does that make sense? But unlike last time, the quality drop was a lot more insignificant. The world still looked quite sharp and didn’t get pixelated like it did last time. In  It still wasn’t quite at real life levels, but I’d call it good.

“Speaking of bringing others here, what can we do about that?” I asked.

“Not much, sadly.” Laura answered. “Miss Lucia is special because of the system link, so for others we would either have to replicate it, which I don’t think is possible, or we could use magic, but that will affect quality. I’ve also been making prototype data transfer devices with Tahlia, so we could try that. But that will require you to be close by with the person you are bringing into the factory.”

“So like a wired connection. I see. So Lua is using the internet, magic is like … bluetooth maybe, and we could also use a wire.” I recapped in a way that kind of explained it to me.

“If you want to look at it that way. But yes. The biggest problem doing it without the visitor having system support is distance. Transferring precise magic over a long distance is not the easiest thing.”

“... I see. … could we make a device that can hold a system link?” I asked.

“Impossible.” Laura immediately answered.

“Then perhaps making a connection server with my cards? Use them for the connection, instead of normal magic? Like how my and Christina’s terminals are connected?”

“... we might be able to. But that would require…” Laura muttered, before getting deep into thought.

“Papa, can we go play?” Fantasia asked me, as my conversation with Laura seemed to have ended.

“Sure. Let’s do it.” I agreed. “Laura, we’ll be off.”

“Yes. Have fun.” She said, before falling back into thought.

Lua appeared in the factory while I was playing with Fantasia, so I … forcefully teleported her over to where we were so we could talk. Yes, I basically kidnapped her. Well then again, she could just escape into the real world if she wanted to, so I can’t really hold her hostage. And she didn’t mind.

I explained that Fantasia, well the factory, had leveled up, and that is why her visuals had improved. Not forgetting the stronger time dilation either. They were both important things. You could easily lose your sense of time if you spent a bit too long here. An hour outside is 96 minutes here, and so on. That could easily lead to some jetlag feelings, if you were here for a couple of hours in a row. Not that you really should, as you really should disconnect at least once every hour, just so you can feel how your physical body feels, take a few steps, maybe drink a bit of water, or blood in Lua’s case.

I spent a bit more time in the factory, not forgetting to visit Tahlia, before returning to the real world and getting ready for breakfast.

During breakfast, I asked the Earl for permission to fly some smaller dragons to the west of the city. I had of course informed him of the new Card Summoners, including the cards they got. He was a bit hesitant, but said that as long as we didn’t summon them too close to the city, we were allowed to do it.

“Brian, can I come as well? I also want to fly my dragon.” Alice said, after hearing that we would be on dragon back today.

Well, Ria would be flying on Firebird, as she doesn’t currently own a dragon. Sure I could give her something like Masked Dragon or Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV4, but I think Firebird is good for now.

Spoiler

“Sure, I don’t mind. As long as no one else is opposed to it.” As I said that, I looked at Ellanora, the Earl’s wife. I know she has been pushing Alice to have dance lessons, so she could dance at the birthday party.

“... hmm. She has been getting better, but we are running out of time.” She said. “Brian, your … summons. Do any of them specialize in dance?”

“Only sword dancing, as far as I remember.” I answered, obviously referring to Performance of Sword. I haven’t summoned her for a while. She isn’t a bad monster, she just isn’t quite as strong as I’d like her to be. My skills greatest weakness is just that. I have so many monsters that I want to summon, but I’m just one person. There is no way I can give all of them the attention they deserve.

“I see…”

“But if that really is a deal breaker, I have a summon that can play music and I can just dance a bit with Alice myself. Won’t that be a good alternative to the lesson?” I asked.

“Yes! Let’s do that.” Alice instantly agreed.

“I suppose that will suffice.” Ellanora gave in. “But if I hear that you lied about it, I’ll make sure you both have an extra long dance lesson tomorrow.”

I know it won’t fully replace an actual lesson, but I think I can also use this as an excuse to have Lua dance with me. Depending on how things go, she might be my +1 for the party, so having her know at least some dancing would help a lot. We could also potentially practice the steps in the factory. The time dilation would help us with how long it will likely take.

“... will this really be fine?” Agatha asked. We had picked her up, driven outside the city walls in Overdrive and were now about to summon our rides.

“Yeap. I got permission, so it is fine. I also warned the gateguards.” I reassured her.

“... how do you even go about that? Asking a noble for something like that?”

“Just bring it up at the breakfast table. It is quite simple when you eat at the same table as said noble.”

“... of course. I’ll never get used to that.”

“I hope you will. I am a half-noble and I do have a relationship with your daughter, so I hope you can get used to it at some point.”

“... I’ll try.”

“Well, at least that isn’t relevant at the moment. Come on. Let’s summon our rides.” I said to get us back on track. “Alice, do you want to demonstrate?”

“Sure.” Alice said, she dug around in her fanny pack for a second and pulled out a card. “Element Dragon.”

Spoiler

Oh? She didn’t summon Pitch-Dark Dragon? Well, I guess Element Dragon will work just as well, I just assumed she would summon Pitch-Dark instead. I’d actually almost forgotten that I’ve given her an Element Dragon. She got Element Dragon in

“... I see.” Agatha muttered. “That didn’t explain anything.”

“Just say the name written at the top of the card to summon the monster.” I explained.

“A-Alright. I’ll do that.” She said, as she got out her card. “Luster Dragon.”

Spoiler

Both Element Dragon and Luster Dragon were on the smaller side, in terms of my dragons. Element Dragon’s main body was about four meters long, but it had a long neck and tail to make it look a lot larger. Luster Dragon on the other hand had a larger main body, about 6 meters, but a shorter neck and tail. But they were still both clearly under the ten meter mark, so I’ll call them small.

For my dragon, I summoned The Dragon Dwelling in the Cave. Just because I wanted one of the sub ten meter dragons.

Spoiler

He was just a bit larger than Luster Dragon, so my dragon was the largest of them. No, I’m not compensating or showing off. Well, maybe a bit. But honestly, The Dragon Dwelling in the Cave just has this scale pattern on its back, which makes for a really nice seat. I learned that in the factory while flying on the dragons with Fantasia.

Ria summoned her Firebird, we all got on, and took off.

Our flight wasn’t eventful. I took the lead as with Laura, I had a mental map so we could easily make our way to the village even if we didn’t follow the road. Not that it really matters, as not that many people travel this way anyway.

By the time we landed, Agatha seemed quite comfortable with her dragon and was even speaking with it in that strange language dragons use. She did get the skill. Or is it a title? It acts like a skill, but Laura said it is a title, because it doesn’t actually give any stat points. Anyway, getting used to riding a dragon that fast. Well, I guess it isn’t that much more difficult than riding a horse. It is actually easier, considering that we are basically bareback. Bareback horse riding is more difficult than riding one of my dragons. Not that I have any experience riding bareback.

The villagers, as was usual, came to welcome us to the village. But this time we got everyone to come out, because of our unusual rides.

“Brian. Everyone. Hi.” Lua awkwardly greeted us after we dismounted.

“Hi Lua.” I said back.

“So, why the dragons? And the bird?” She asked.

“Just getting your mother used to it. We will run out of time if we don’t do it now.”

“I see. Well, how was the flight? Did you get cold?”

“Nah. It isn’t that bad, at least with the dragon I used. His head is good for protecting me from the wind.” I explained. “Alice on the other hand…” I added, looking back at Alice who had, after landing, went closer to Firebird to warm up.

It wasn’t a cold day, but the temperature was still about 15°C 59°F , so with the windchill from flying, it could get a bit cold.

Ria naturally wasn’t cold, considering that her bird was literally on fire. Not that the fire would burn, unless the bird wanted it to burn. And Agatha also seemed just fine, but that might be because she is just built different. Literally. Or maybe she used wind magic to protect herself from the wind.

I was about to unsummon my dragon, but instead, I had two dhampir children ask me for something.

“Mr. Summoner, could we…” Kody began, but couldn’t finish his question.

“Could we ride your dragon?” Anika finished what Kody wanted to ask.

“Of course. We can take a quick ride.” I answered. No, I’m not letting them go by themselves, but luckily my dragon should be able to carry all three of us. It carried me and Fantasia just fine, so one more shouldn’t matter. “Lua, want to join us?”

“... no. I’ll fly with you some other time. Maybe you can take me on that white dragon again, but in better weather this time.”

“Of course. Any time you want.” I promised.

I guess Lua is still the only one that has ridden a Blue-Eyes, other than me. She also got to ride LV8 Horus.

I would say she is the only one to ride one of my large dragons, but Alice and Ria flew on Tyrant Dragon, so that just isn’t true.

“Come, you two. Let’s go take a flight.” I said to the two children.

““Yes!”” They both answered.

We all got on The Dragon Dwelling in the Cave. Cody was sitting in the front, Anika behind him, and I was behind her. I wanted to be in the back, so I could easily see the two of them. And if either of them looks like they will fall, I can hopefully use telekinesis to hold them in place.

After we were properly sitting down, I gave my dragon the order and we took off.
