Chapter 71 The End Of The Raid (Part 1)
Clang!
A goblin fell to the ground, and disappeared into pixels.
"Finally. All of the goblins are done with." Nine Dragons heaved and put his sword in his sheath, looking at the rest of his group.
"Look at those monsters. It has been ten minutes, and they are able to stand against the boss monsters all on their own. There really is a reason they are the high rankers of the guild." Infinite Eternity nodded.
"The guild leader has a lot of money. Of course he is going to have the best equipment. All of the rich players have a better starting point than we do." Nine Dragons shook his head.
"Stop being so bitter. He literally promised us the sets that we are collecting. How long do you think it would take for us to grind and earn enough to buy one of these sets for ourselves? You saw the set effects. These would go for dozens of silvers, at least." Infinite Eternity said.
"Don't tell me. You have a crush on the guild master or one of the other two." Nine Dragons asked, looking at his team mate.
"You men are all the same. The moment we say something, you think about something like that." Infinite Eternity shook her head.
"Well then, what do we even do. Every single goblin is dead, and we even took all of the loot. What now? Do we just wait for them to finish with their match there, or do we help them?" Nine Dragons wondered.
"You are the group captain. Not me. We have to follow your orders." Infinite Eternity shrugged.
Sighing, Nine Dragons nodded. This really was going to be his decision, but he wasn't sure if he could join in the fight. If he did join, then the higher ups might get mad at him, and he would have to leave the guild.
But if he, and the other group captains decided not to join, the exact same reaction might come. And he couldn't exactly read the mind of his guild leader.
But then, the status quo of the fight in the middle changed.
While Myriad Arrows was just attacking the Goblin Chieftain, trying to shave off a few inches off the HP bar, one of the goblin guards fell down on the ground.
Jake finished off the goblin guard, and he looked at Kierch, seeing how he was faring.
The other goblin guard also had its HP bar in the reds, and a few more attacks were going to do it for Kierch as well.
"Looks like the goblin guards are taken care of. Myriad Arrows! You don't need to stress yourself too much. Now, we have to work together." Jake called out.
Clash!
The sound of the goblin guard falling down could be heard from Jake's side, and he looked at Kierch, who nodded at Jake.
"Good. How much time before your major attacks cool down?" Jake asked.
"Three minutes." Kierch answered swiftly.
"Myriad Arrows. What about you? How much time before your big attacks cool down?" Jake looked at his guild's coleader.
"About five minutes. It takes a while for my attacks to cool down." he said.
"Then we will have to last about five minutes before we can let the Goblin Chieftain's HP bar go to zero. In it's second form, we have to finish it off as quickly as possible, or it will do some damage to the guild members around us." Jake said.
Looking around, the entire floor was empty. The loot was picked clean, while the goblins that were defeated pixelated into nothingness.
Jake smiled and he twirled his sword, pointing it at the Goblin Chieftain.
"Looks like you are all that is left. Why don't we get this over with?" Jake said as he rushed forward, taking charge of the front line.
With him directly attacking the Goblin Chieftain, he was the one controlling all of the aggro. That meant that the Goblin Chieftain was looking at him, and him alone. Its attacks would be concentrated on Jake now.
Behind Jake, Myriad Arrows started shooting arrows at the boss from a distance. Now that he had to fill his role as an archer, he was happy to put some distance between him and the boss.
Archers didn't have high HP bars or defense. They were simply attack and agility, and it was best not to go into close combat.
The moment that the Goblin Chieftain started chanting with his staff raised high up, Jake started moving in a zig-zag pattern, with his movements aberrated, and unpredictable. The chieftain's eyes followed Jake, but they couldn't catch up.
Purple circles with runes on the perimeter suddenly started appearing on the ground, trying to follow Jake.
But he was swift enough to avoid them. These purple circles blasted into lightning, and whoever did step into the circles would definitely have a hard time.
Swoosh!
A shadow appeared behind the Goblin Chieftain, and Jake saw that, smiling. His own sword shone as he jumped forward, attracting all of the attention.
"Despairing strike!"
"Swipes of Vengeance!"
Two attacks came from two different people. One attack from the front, and one from behind.
The chieftain only looked at Jake, and it moved its staff, trying to defend against Jake.
"Maybe I should ask Kierch to be the bait, because I deal more damage." Jake wondered as his sword was deflected by the staff.
Still, the moment that Kierch's attacks landed, the Goblin Chieftain turned around with anger.
Facing two enemies at once was a pain. It roared and shouted in an unintelligible language. It started chanting, and a purple circle appeared right behind Kierch, and sparks of purple lightning were visible, threatening to strike Kierch's unprotected back.
"Not on my watch."
Jake's sword struck not the back, but the hand that was holding the staff. The goblin chieftain loosened its grip, and the circle disappeared for a second, giving Kierch enough time to move.
