Chapter 7 Factional Forces
As the elite division of the Investigation Department, the Special Operations Division enjoyed ample training resources and excellent benefits, often looking down on other departments.
They harbored a sense of superiority, believing their capabilities far surpassed those of ordinary agents like Qiu Tu. This was why, during the initial attack, they had instructed Qiu Tu to take cover while they dealt with the enemies.
However, the turn of events was entirely unexpected. Their extensive training proved ineffective in actual combat, resulting in only minor injuries to a few extremists after dozens of shots.
Meanwhile, Qiu Tu, the ordinary agent they had looked down upon, had stepped up, taking out two enemies with ease and single-handedly repelling the attack.
This left the Special Operations Division agents questioning their abilities and viewing Qiu Tu with newfound respect.
Qiu Tu noticed the shift in atmosphere but remained composed. He calmly engaged the safety on his gun, tucked it back into his waistband, and reminded everyone, "Don't let your guard down. Be cautious of a second attack."
He then turned to Fang Ming, "Agent Fang, perhaps you should contact the Director and report the situation. We might need the involvement of the Political Division or the Security Section."
Fang Ming nodded in agreement, realizing the danger wasn't over. The agents quickly divided tasks, some standing guard, others protecting Qin Shuman, and some climbing to the rooftops to check for traces.
Meanwhile, Fang Ming took out his communicator to report to Yan Chen.As the Special Operations Division agents spread out, a commotion erupted at the end of the street.
"Brother Tu! Brother Tu!"
"Quick! Quick!"
"Here! Here!"
About a dozen agents in disheveled uniforms rushed from the western corner, holding worn-out batons.
Leading them was a particularly strong agent, standing at 1.9 meters tall, with a bear-like physique and muscular arms as thick as an average person's thigh, projecting an intimidating presence.
Unlike the other agents wielding batons, he held a fist-sized iron hammer, his gaze fierce and murderous. If not for his tightly stretched uniform, he would resemble a blood-stained thug.
"Special Operations Division at work! What department are you from?"
A Special Operations Division agent on the western perimeter stepped forward, sternly stopping the newcomers. The number of approaching agents made him reach for his handgun, ready to draw it if necessary.
Qiu Tu, hearing the commotion, turned to see the strong agent leading the group.
"A Tai!"
Upon hearing Qiu Tu’s call, the strong agent, A Tai, became even more agitated, waving his small hammer and rushing forward.
Qiu Tu quickly intervened, "They’re temporary agents from Old Lane Street. I called them for assistance. Let them through."
The Special Operations Division agent hesitated briefly but then nodded and stepped aside.
The temporary agents hurried over, surrounding Qiu Tu. Blocking others' views, the burly A Tai leaned close and whispered, "Brother Tu, we came as soon as we got your message. What happened?"
His gaze turned fierce, glaring at the Special Operations Division agent who had stopped them, "Did that guy give you trouble?"
"Don't worry. Just say the word, and I'll wait outside his house tonight. When he's not looking, I'll hit his head with this hammer twice. He won't see tomorrow's sun!"
Listening to A Tai’s murderous words, Qiu Tu recalled the identities of these men.
Though Qiu Tu was Yan Chen’s lackey, his rank in the Investigation Department was not high, only a mid-level agent in the weak Administrative Office. This left him with little influence outside Yan Chen's favor.
However, Qiu Tu was loyal and didn’t forget his brothers from the bottom rung after gaining some power. Using Yan Chen's name, he secured jobs for about a dozen friends, even if only as temporary agents in the local security bureau without official ranks or firearms. At least they were on the payroll with a chance of being regularized.
These friends did not disappoint. They remained loyal to Qiu Tu and were always ready to assist him with tasks he couldn’t openly handle.
In this world, they were Qiu Tu’s true factional forces, sharing his fortunes and misfortunes.
Thus, they had rushed over armed, responding to Qiu Tu's message.
Recognizing their loyalty, Qiu Tu naturally asked in a low voice, "Did you bring the stuff?"
A Tai nodded, signaling to an agent with a hooked nose, "Eagle."
Eagle reached into his coat and pulled out a heavy cloth bag, handing it to Qiu Tu. Inside, the bag clinked with a metallic sound.
Qiu Tu checked the contents and, satisfied, put the bag into his coat.
He patted A Tai's shoulder, quietly giving instructions while A Tai nodded, frowning as he listened.
Their exchange, though brief, had significant implications. By the time the Special Operations Division agents looked over, Qiu Tu was already leading the temporary agents to find Fang Ming.
No one knew that Qiu Tu scheduled a lot during the brief talk.
When they found Fang Ming, he just ended his call.
Seeing Qiu Tu approach, Fang Ming spoke first, "Agent Qiu, perfect timing. I was to look for you. I just spoke with the Director. He’s furious about the RUF attack and has ordered the Political Division to join the Special Operations Division in a joint operation to purge the RUF from New Realm City."
"Due to the current chaos, he has ordered you and Miss Qin to return to the city villa immediately."
Qiu Tu glanced at the countdown in the upper left of his vision while hearing this.
[3:28:12]
The countdown hadn’t changed, suggesting Yan Chen didn’t plan to interrogate them early but merely prevented them from going to Cross Street.
If it were before the shootout, this change might have caused a headache to Qiu Tu. But now...
"Alright, no problem," Qiu Tu agreed calmly.
He then introduced A Tai, "Agent Fang, this is my cousin A Tai, a temporary agent on Old Lane Street. He rushed over with his colleagues to assist upon hearing the gunfire."
"How would you like to proceed?"
