Chapter 34 - 34. Memoryscape (3)
Le Fangling could not keep track of time inside the empty blank space she was in. How long had they been there? One minute? Three hours? A few weeks? Or maybe a year must have passed already with her trapped inside there.
"This.." she hissed in pain when a ray of light directly hit her eyes suddenly.
She was already used to the darkness surrounding her that even a little bit of brightness hurt her eyes.
'Are we finally leaving this place?' She wondered aloud as the light beam got bigger and bigger until it completely engulfed the darkness she was trapped in.
In an impulse, she tightly shut her eyes and waited for her eyes to slowly get adjusted to the brightness.
As soon as they were out from the dark space, Le Fangling felt a slight pain on her back when she hit the ground.
"….."
"Not again!" She exclaimed in anger as she sat up on the ground where she was lying on, rubbing her back.
"Why am I always lying on the ground whenever I am transported to somewhere else?" She snorted loudly and squatted on the ground.
Hiss…Hiss…
She heard hissing sound coming from behind her and let out a sigh.
"Ohh right, Nagina, did you fall far away from me? Come here." She held out her arms out and waited for Nagina to climb it up while she glanced around the place they were at.
"What are you talking about? I am right here?" Nagina poked her head out of the slit in the outer robe and hissed at Le Fangling from underneath.
'Uh oh, the nostrils are flaring up like always..' She looked at the big two holes she could see from her perspective. That was why she hated poking out her head and speaking to Le Fangling from underneath.
She saw things from way too different perspective including the two big oranges that were growing on her chest. That was the only thing she liked since I acted as the perfect and cozy place for her.
"What? Why are you there?" Le Fangling widened her eyes horrified and looked behind her to see a black snake slithering towards them.
"Another snake??" She stood up from the ground and quickly maintained a distance from it. It was always better to observe precaution whenever one was in sketchy situation.
"Is it like those projections or is it real?" She asked Nagina to check it out.
"This is just an illusion here. We are the only living beings here." Nagina confirmed after scouring the area for any sign of life but to no avail.
"It's good that we are the only ones." Le Fangling nodded her head and looked around at the place they were at.
It was the same desolate place but this time the place they were at was a little livelier than before. Few herbs grew here and there and even small insects were crawling here and there. A girl as old as Le Fangling was playing with water in a river flowing silently near them.
"Looks like we leapt through time." She concluded while she looked at the grown up girl standing before her.
Dressed up in a brown robe like any normal village girl, with her long hair tied up in a braid with a jasmine flower decorated on her hair, the girl was smiling happily as she watched the ripples in the river.
Her smile was as bright as the sun in the sky and her face was filled with only bliss and happiness. Standing there alone, she could light up the whole place. Even this dumpy and mushy looking place looked more cheerful with her presence alone.
'So that was how the original looked like?' Le Fangling thought as she walked towards her. Nagina securely coiled herself around her arm and looked at the scene in front of her which looked vaguely familiar to her as well even though it was her first time here.
"I wonder when this was." Le Fangling mumbled to herself.
"Probably before we came over here." Nagina was the one who spoke. "Your current features and the features of that girl over there matches by 99%."
"Ohh..I guess we are going to witness something important then." Le Fangling nodded her head.
Just as she finished speaking, the girl in front of them stopped her actions and suddenly seemed alert. Just to the opposite of the river, two guys dressed in a heavy black dress appeared out of thin air holding swords in their hand.
The girl at first looked sacred and anxious but soon she regained her composure and stood there at a safe distance from them Looking at the dreadful and tremendous aura they were exuding even from afar, she was sure they were really powerful people.
"Why is she standing there like that? Wouldn't it be perfect to take precaution?" Le Fangling pointed out to Nagina who just silently hissed.
"We don't know what's going on her mind, host. We will have to wait and see. It's not like we can do anything here." Nagina shook her tiny little head.
"Hmm…" Le Fangling hummed a silent agreement and watched the event unfold without batting her eyelid. She did not want to miss anything because she recognized who those two people were.
With the family symbol of Le Family attached to their dress, she would be a blind person if she did not recognize those two people as the people from Le Family.
Although they were wearing mask and even their head was blocked with huge bamboo hats, they could not help but look more suspicious.
"Are they here on some errands?" Le Fangling wondered and let out a chuckle.
"They look even more obvious by dressing like that! What the..Wait.." Le Fangling who was laughing suddenly stopped in the mid way and her face suddenly turned in to a horrified expression.
'I haven't seen you smile after you came here 1 month ago, little miss.' She remembered what Da Fu had said back in the Le mansion when carrying her, right at this very moment.
"What's wrong?" Nagina sensed unease inside Le Fangling and asked.
"I think...Nah I am pretty damn sure that they are here to take her away!" Le Fangling gasped in shock and could not help but cover her mouth with her hands.
