Chapter 33 - 33. Memoryscape (2)
"Aiyah…That looks pretty painful..Uuii.." Le Fangling twisted her face in pained expression looking at the little girl getting spanked by her granny.
She even unconsciously placed her hands on her buttocks just to check if she had the five finger print there.
Nagina too hid behind Le Fangling as she startled by the painful smacking sound.
While the two spectators were almost about to writhe in pain on the spot, the person who was getting the real beating just produced small sniffling sounds but did not protest or tried to run away from there.
She looked well behaved indeed even when being punished.
'I don't get why they hate the original Le Fangling..It's simply too unreasonable.' Le Fangling wondered taking in to account the behavior of the little girl, the child version of herself.
"Just look at this well behaved cutie."
"It has less to do with how she looks and more to do with the Le Family," Nagina poked her head out from beneath the robe and looked at Le Fangling.
"How so? There is much more to this whole thing than what meets the eye, isn't it?" Le Fangling glanced at the two people in front of her and spoke in solemn voice.
"Well.." Nagina slithered to her neck and reached right near her ear.
"Le Family has been suspected of colluding and forming secrets covenant with the creatures of dark, the formless." She hissed right in to her ear and quickly crawled back to the arm.
"That much is the information I have garnered about Le Fangling and her family. The history to this place is way too messed up."
"Hmm…" Le Fangling nodded her head and was thoughtful for a while.
"Formless? I remember you said something about that before too..What are they?" Le Fangling questioned.
"….."
"But I just said..They are the creature of dark but what are they exactly, no one knows." Nagina shrugged her snake body.
"That is why they are called formless, stupid host." Nagina hissed and after rolling her eyes at her, she returned back to watching the spanking session.
"Alright." Le Fangling balled her hand into a fist.
"What now?"
"We will dissect their body and decipher their gene and DNA to find out what they are exactly when we confront them in real life." Le Fangling gave a sigh and waved her hands. "Seems like that is the only option left."
"Now that was a nice joke, host." Nagina hisseled (hiss+ giggle) at what Le Fangling said but to her surprise, Le Fangling remained silent.
"Wait, you are not serious about dissecting them are you?" Nagina stammered a little as she faced Le Fangling.
"I am actually, though I am not sure whether I will be successful or not." Le Fangling was thoughtful for a while.
"You won't be." Nagina gave a straight out answer.
"Haha..i think so too..I did fail medical school when I was on Earth. Still, I think with a few trials, I can do it." Le Fangling fist bumped her hand in air, her tone and look in the turquoise eyes as serious as it could be.
Nagina: "….."
"Come on, you never know what you can do, unless you try." Le Fangling tapped the round and smooth head of Nagina and smiled.
"You are overly optimistic." Nagina sneered.
"I will take it as a compliment." Le Fangling placed the hands on her hips and gave a bellowing laughter.
"Being pessimistic was never an option for me." Le Fangling gave a thumbs up and grinned showing a victorious smile. Nagina even had the illusion that she saw her front canine teeth sparkling in golden color.
'Blinding…way too blinding…' Nagina shook her head and slid inside the outer robe where it was dark and cozy.
"Ohh, looks like they are finally done with it." Le Fangling exclaimed with a sigh motioning at the granny.
"Now tell me, you little rabbit! Why did you go up in the hill?" the elderly lady asked the girl who was silent but Le Fangling could see that she was biting her lips to not give out any type of cry of pain.
"Why are you not speaking now? Do you know how much I was worried when the storm came and I could not find you anywhere?" The old woman turned the girl to face towards her, shaking her head in distress.
"You.." The grandmother noticed the red blood that slowly dripped from her lips and stopped her action and questioning.
Her expression turned ashen and she hurried to stop the bleeding using a cotton handkerchief that was tied around the belt on her waist.
"Why are you this stubborn?" She shook her head as she cleaned the wound on the lips. Despite acting harsh and punishing her for her disobedience, she still loved the little girl she was holding in her arm dearly.
The little girl was the only one whom she could call her family in this desolate place filled with dead trees and hunger driven people.
"If you are this against on telling me about it, then don't tell, hmm? Don't hurt yourself, okie?" She patted her head and brushed her hair against the few strands of hair that had come undone form the bun.
The little Le Fangling shook her head slowly and grabbed on to the old lady. "I won't go there ever again..I promise." She nodded her head and hid herself in to her bosom and soon fell asleep.
All the running from before and the mental and physical exhaustion made her doze off right there.
Hearing the soft snores coming from beneath her, the elderly face that was full of wrinkles lit up into a helpless smile.
"What am I going to do with you little girl?" The old lady had her eyes glued on the little girl. She bowed down and gave a short and quick kiss on the top of her head.
Her eyes filled with desperation and she once again showered the child in her laps with kiss as if trying to imprint the child forever in her mind.
"I really do not want to let you go dear child….but I know, time will come for me to…." The old lady's voice got distant until Le Fangling could hear it no more.
"Wait, please repeat what you said…" Le Fangling approached the old lady and tried to hold her hands but in vain.
Her hands passed right through the old lady's body. She really needed to know what was going to happen to the elderly lady and why she had that look of desperation in her eyes.
Nagina had already turned away her gaze from this scene since she kept on getting weird signals to her brain making her feel like she was overloaded with data.
She probed her head out in the open and turned to look away from the elderly lady. 'What's that?' She wondered when she saw a swirling mass of air and dirt particles, which looked like a whirlpool in the air itself.
The dark hole got bigger and bigger and cracks like in a glass plate started to form around it in the air.
"Host, watch out..there is distortion in space." She hissed at Le Fangling who was still trying to hear what the lady was saying but her sound was not audible anymore.
"Arghh.." She let out a scream when there was an electrifying pain in her arms. She turned her attention towards her arm and noticed two tiny holes in there.
"Why did you bite me?" She just yelled at the little snake but before she could get and answer, the surrounding they were got sucked in with a great force to the whirlpool like distortion and everything around them got pitch black.
"So we are traveling to another dimension then?" Le Fangling commented as she felt herself drifting between nothing.
"Yes, without doubt we are heading to another place in this memory." Nagina's voice sounded inside her head.
"And don't worry, my bite is not poisonous." She added to calm down the heart of Le Fangling that was beating faster each second.
"En." She simply replied and the silence permeated the void they were in.
Le Fangling did not say anything as she waited for them to get freed from the trapped space and head over to whatever fragment of memory was waiting for them on the other side.
Just thinking about it gave her an ominous feeling.. Whatever she was going to see after now was going to make her understand things she was clueless about and she knew she was not going to like it.
