Chapter 3: Qiao Yingzi Held His Waist?! Spring Breeze High!
After a brief hesitation, Qiao Yingzi tightened her arms around Su Bai’s waist.
Vroom
With a twist of the throttle, the motorbike roared to life and sped off.
Before long, they arrived at the gates of Spring Breeze High School. The school was conveniently close to Shuxiang Yayuan, their residential area—a perk of living in a catchment zone.
[ shū xiāng yǎ yuàn (书香雅苑), meaning “Elegant Garden of Scholarly Fragrance”].
At the school entrance, students stared at them enviously.
Although the official term was still two weeks away, Year Three students had returned early. While most didn’t recognise Su Bai, everyone knew Qiao Yingzi, even with her helmet on.
As the perennial top scorer in her year, Qiao Yingzi was something of a celebrity at school.
Adding to the intrigue was their matching school uniforms, making it evident that both Su Bai and Qiao Yingzi were Spring Breeze students.
“Who’s that guy? Qiao Yingzi’s clinging to his waist!”
“Forget that—look at that motorbike! It’s insane! I want one too.”
“Want one? You must be dreaming. Do you even know how much that bike costs?”
Among the crowd, a few knowledgeable students couldn’t help but discuss the motorbike’s specs. After all, what teenage boy doesn’t fantasise about owning a motorbike?
“How much could it cost? A few tens of thousands? I could totally afford that one day.”
“A few tens of thousands? Are you kidding me?”
“That’s a Ducati Panigale V4—only 500 in the world. Prices start at 1.5 million yuan, but now you’d need at least 2 million to get one.”
“Two million? Are you serious?”
“Do you think I’d joke about this? I’m a motorbike fanatic—I’d never mistake it.”
“So, who’s the guy riding a two-million-yuan motorbike to school? Since when did our school have someone like that?”
“Exactly! And why is Qiao Yingzi holding on to him like that? Whose young master is he?”
Hearing the murmurs around them, Su Bai and Qiao Yingzi slowed down as more students gathered near the gates.
When they arrived, Su Bai thought they might be stopped by a security guard.
Oddly enough, there wasn’t one in sight.
Taking the opportunity, Su Bai drove straight into the school without hesitation.
As they rode through the campus, countless astonished gazes followed them.
Soon, Su Bai parked the motorbike in the designated area and hopped off.
“Su Bai, I overheard someone say your motorbike costs 2 million yuan. Is that true?” Qiao Yingzi asked after removing her helmet, unable to suppress her curiosity.
They had heard the chatter at the school gates earlier.
Glancing at the “1” engraved on the motorbike’s frame, Su Bai replied, “It’s probably worth more now. A bike like this has significant collectable value.”
“You… I… That’s incredible!”
Qiao Yingzi was momentarily at a loss for words. She never imagined she’d one day ride on a motorbike worth 2 million yuan.
One thing was certain: the experience had been exhilarating.
“Let’s go. Time to hit the books.”
After storing their helmets, Su Bai began walking toward the school building.
Qiao Yingzi quickly followed. It was Su Bai’s first day at Spring Breeze High, and he didn’t know where to find their classroom.
When they reached the sports field, they saw a large crowd gathered around.
“You dare lay a hand on my crush?”
Just as Su Bai and Qiao Yingzi reached the edge of the group, an angry voice rang out.
Both instantly recognised the speaker—Fang Yifan.
[Fang Yifan (方一凡): Fāng Yīfán – A given name meaning “ordinary” or “simple,” likely an ironic nod to his spirited personality.].
“Let me through! Move aside!”
Being as close as siblings, Qiao Yingzi immediately grew alarmed upon hearing Fang Yifan’s voice.
Fang Yifan’s crush was none other than Qiao Yingzi’s best friend, Huang Zhitao. This only heightened Qiao Yingzi’s urgency to push through the crowd and see what was happening.
[Huang Zhitao (黄芷陶): Huáng Zhǐtáo – “芷” refers to Angelica (a fragrant herb), and “陶” means pottery, symbolising elegance and refinement.].
At 1.85 metres tall, Su Bai towered over most students, making it easy for him to part the crowd and lead Qiao Yingzi to the centre of the commotion.
There, they spotted a fiery red Ferrari parked in the middle of the circle, with Ji Yangyang pinning Fang Yifan against its hood.
[Ji Yangyang (季杨杨): Jì Yángyáng – A double “杨” (poplar tree) in the name adds a sense of vibrancy and strength.].
“Taotao, are you alright?”
Qiao Yingzi bypassed Fang Yifan entirely, rushing to help Huang Zhitao to her feet.
“Taotao, are you hurt?” she asked anxiously after ensuring Huang Zhitao was steady.
“I’m fine, really,” Huang Zhitao reassured her. However, her gaze soon shifted to Su Bai.
With his height and striking looks, Su Bai stood out effortlessly in the crowd. To Huang Zhitao, he was the epitome of perfection.
She wasn’t the only one; many other girls in the vicinity found themselves unable to look away, their hearts skipping a beat.
“Yingzi, is this our new classmate, Su Bai?” Huang Zhitao asked, her curiosity evident.
“Yes, this is Su Bai.”
Huang Zhitao eagerly stepped forward to introduce herself. “Hi, Su Bai, I’m Huang Zhitao—Yingzi’s best friend. You can call me Taotao.”
Smiling warmly at her enthusiasm, Su Bai replied, “Nice to meet you, Taotao. I’m Su Bai.”
“You’re so handsome, Su Bai.” Huang Zhitao felt as though she might swoon at his smile.
“Taotao, stop being starstruck and tell me—what’s going on here? Why are Fang Yifan and Ji Yangyang fighting?” Qiao Yingzi interrupted, bringing her friend back to reality.
Reluctantly tearing her gaze from Su Bai, Huang Zhitao explained:
“Ji Yangyang drove his Ferrari onto the school grounds, and Fang Yifan went over to take a photo.”
“Then Ji Yangyang accidentally tossed his bag onto me, and that’s how the fight started.”
“No wonder there was no security guard at the gate when we arrived. He must’ve run off to chase Ji Yangyang’s Ferrari, which is why no one stopped us.”
“Oh, by the way, Yingzi, I heard about a 2-million-yuan motorbike entering the school this morning. You were on the back, weren’t you? Who was driving?”
“It was Su Bai.”
