Chapter 1049: Expanding the Limit



Going over the various things Mystia showed him, as well as the words she said to him just now, the gears in the young man's mind began to turn as he summarized what he understood. "So, what you're saying is, Mystic Energy is reliant on my imagination for it to take form?"

"That's correct." Mystia nodded with a smile, glad that Valyr was able to understand the gist of her explanation. "As long as you can imagine it, then the Mystic Energy would be able to bring it to reality."

Hearing those words come out of Mystia's mouth once more, a slight frown began to creep up onto Valyr's face.

After all, if the power of Mystic Energy was dictated by one's imagination, then why was the plane containing its concept on the brink of destruction in the past?

Keeping this in mind, the young man decided to ask both Mystia and Marcus for more information, hoping that they would answer everything he asked them.

"You mentioned just now that Mystic Energy manifests what I come up in my mind into reality," said the young man, his gaze focused on the woman before him. "Would it be possible for me to conjure a sword with the Mystic Energy, then?"

"You could." Mystia nodded in response. "However, it doesn't have any offensive properties whatsoever. It would only exhibit defensive properties when used."

At those words, Valyr slightly raised his eyebrows. "Would that only apply to swords? Or does it apply to other things?"

"For example, what if I were to imagine a giant claw out of Mystic Energy to strike down a lot of my foes at once?"

"It would only be able to defend you from attacks in return," said Mystia, finally showing Valyr a glimpse of how Mystic Energy truly worked. "Aside from that, the size of the claw you create is highly dependent on how much Mystic Energy you put into it."

"If that's the case, then that means your earlier claims were wrong," replied Valyr after gathering his thoughts, causing Mystia to look back at him with a slight frown in response.

Though, as the young man continued to explain his train of thought, the frown on Mystia's face gradually disappeared. "After all, how could you say that Mystic Energy would be able to bring whatever I imagine to reality if I can't even use it to create a weapon?"

"Well..." Responding to Valyr's words, Mystia went silent for a bit before letting out a sigh. "Once again, it has something to do with the nature of Mystic Energy itself."

Pondering over her words for a bit, Valyr eventually understood what she meant by that. "I see. Shadow Energy leans towards destruction..."

"While Mystic Energy leans towards creation. Yeah." Mystia nodded back before continuing with her explanation. "Just like how creation is the keyword to properly utilizing Mystic Energy, it's also the thing that powers Mystic Energy in the first place."

"Though, if I were to be more specific about the last part, then it would probably be the fact that the word protection encapsulates Mystic Energy more than creation."

"I understand." At this point, Valyr now had a good idea of what Mystic Energy was capable of.

Wanting to confirm his thoughts, he went ahead and opened his mouth once more as he asked the two, "So, if I'm getting this correctly, as long as I'm not using it to attack someone, Mystic Energy would be able to realize what I imagine without issues."

"As long as you have enough Mystic Energy to will it into existence, then yes," Mystia corrected the young man, with Marcus merely nodding in response to her words.

"You could use it to defend, to heal, to empower, or even to debilitate someone if you wanted it to."

"Of course, the latter two use up more Mystic Energy in order for it to be effective, but it is possible."

"Got it." With that, Valyr was more than ready to learn how to properly use Mystic Energy from Mystia, which the latter immediately took notice the moment their conversation was done.

Nodding with a faint smile, Mystia then sported a calm expression as she watched the young man get into a stance of sorts. "Alright. We're gonna start off simple to slowly get you used to wielding Mystic Energy properly."

"First, release a bit of your Mystic Energy into your surroundings," said the woman. "Make sure that you always exert control over it."

Nodding in response to her words, Valyr went ahead and did what he was told, causing a part of his surroundings to take on a slightly iridescent color.

"What's next?"

"Focus on a certain image on your mind, then project that towards the Mystic Energy you've released," said Mystia in response. "For now, focus on projecting the image of a shield onto the Mystic Energy."

"Got it." Nodding in response once more, Valyr took in a deep breath as he visualized the form of a shield in his mind.

Thanks to his bountiful experience as a blacksmith, it did not take long for him to form an image of what he considered his ideal shield, only to then project that image onto his Mystic Energy soon after.

Swoosh!

In less than an instant, the Mystic Energy in his surroundings took shape, slowly transforming into the image of the ideal shield Valyr had in his mind.

Feeling the shield appearing before him consume some of the Mystic Energy within his body, the young man soon had a smile on his face the moment he felt the shield before him become

truly tangible.

Ding!

Whilst willing the shield made out of Mystic Energy to revolve around his body, Valyr went ahead and opened up his notification screen in his mind, curious as to what the system wanted

to tell him.

[Due to this discovery, the skill 'Intermediate Mystic Energy Manipulation' has been replaced with 'Basic True Mystic Energy Manipulation'.]

'System, identify the new skill I just obtained.' With his eyes slightly widening from the information he just read, Valyr continued to interact with the system in his mind whilst slowly refining his control over the shield he conjured.

By the time he began to conjure a second shield in a bid to emulate what Mystia did earlier, Valyr focused most of his attention towards the description of the new skill he received, only to then furrow his brows as he noted a certain portion of the skill.

Returning his senses back to reality, the young man willed the two shields he conjured to the side before looking at Mystia. "Say, Mystia."

"Hmm?" Hearing her name be called, Mystia looked back at the young man before raising her eyebrow in curiosity.

"Have you ever purified your Mystic Energy before?" As these words left the young man's

mouth, Valyr felt a sense of excitement since it seemed like he found a way to expand the

limits of what his Mystic Energy was capable of.

Though, those thoughts came to a grinding halt when he noticed that the smile on Mystia's face had become crooked because of it.
