Soon, the interviewer’s questions interrupted Shu Pan’s thoughts, and she did not conceal anything, answering them one by one.

“Thank you, Ms. Shu, today’s interview is over. We will notify you within three days if there is any news,” said the lady in a very official manner.

Shu Pan also guessed that her chances were slim and didn’t dwell on it, politely nodding her head and leaving.

After descending the stairs, Shu Pan walked while annoyingly thinking that Gu Shaoting had been right; the world outside was not easy to navigate.

“Be careful,” the approaching person reacted quickly and immediately reached out to steady Shu Pan. His figure was tall and his voice had a deep, magnetic quality.

Shu Pan looked up and saw a resolute face, very upright and tall.

“I’m sorry, I was too engrossed in my thoughts.” Fortunately, he steadied her, or she would have embarrassed herself today.

“No problem, just be more careful next time.” Seeing some documents on the ground, he stooped to pick them up. Glancing at them, he realized they belonged to Shu Pan, who had come for an interview for the administrative assistant position.

“Alright, I’m really sorry.” Shu Pan stood there feeling somewhat helpless. Today had really started off on the wrong foot, with nothing going her way.

The man slightly lifted the corner of his mouth, then handed her the documents and walked away.

Shu Pan, holding the documents, gloomily exited the hall.

At the turn, Lu Lei immediately called secretary Yang.

“Was there a Ms. Shu Pan interviewing for the administrative assistant position today?” Lu Lei cut straight to the chase.

Secretary Yang thought for a moment. “Yes, but she’s married and has kids who are a few years old now. She might not be suitable for this position.”

“No, it has to be her. Inform the HR department to have her start work tomorrow.” Lu Lei made a swift decision.

“But…” Secretary Yang wanted to add something but remembered his boss’s assertive nature and immediately held his tongue.

Director Lu must have his reasons for such a decision, and as a subordinate, it was best not to question too much.

Shu Pan walked out of Shengtian Corporation’s lobby feeling dejected. Checking the time, she realized she would be alone at home; she might as well take a walk outside.

Though there were two more interviews left, she suddenly lost all interest in them, deciding to see how things would unfold first.

Unknowingly, she found herself at the base of the Gu Group building. She had been wandering aimlessly, only realizing now, and remembered that there were numerous corporations nearby, not very far from each other.

Her feet were tired; she didn’t even know how far she had walked.

Suddenly, she had the impulse to go up to Gu Shaoting’s office. Just as she got up to leave, she saw Gu Shaoting coming out of the company and was about to call out to him.

“Mr. Gu…” A young, energetic girl hurried out of the company lobby, displaying a pure and vibrant aura.

Gu Shaoting stopped in his tracks upon hearing her.

“You forgot a document.” The girl, having rushed over, had her cheeks flushed a rosy hue, making her look even more charming and youthful.

After speaking, she handed the document to Gu Shaoting.

Gu Shaoting smiled at her and said thank you.

When had Gu Shaoting ever been the type to smile at his subordinates? He had always been rather cold, and Shu Pan remembered a female colleague who had once been reduced to tears by him.

Yet now, their interaction seemed so natural, almost like they had a good understanding.

Seeing this scene, Shu Pan felt as if a needle was pricking her heart.

People change. Gu Shaoting used to dislike having female secretaries, but now, wasn’t he managing quite well with one? Female secretaries were gentle, considerate, and meticulous.

Shu Pan smiled faintly, but the smile did not reach her eyes.
