Shu Pan sat in the conference room with a nervous heart. She looked at the others; everyone was dressed so fashionably, as if they were attending a beauty contest.

Only she was dressed properly.

A beautiful woman next to her turned towards her and asked, “Are you also here for the executive assistant interview?”

“Yes, are you?” Shu Pan responded.

She noticed among them were many young and beautiful women, only two were about her age.

“Yes, but I heard they say it’s for an executive assistant, actually, it’s to hire a secretary for the CEO.” The beautiful woman seemed very well-informed.

Shu Pan glanced at her and naively asked, “How do you know?”

The woman, proud and boasting in her tone, then said, “My name is Yu Li. My cousin works here, she secretly told me. Many people don’t know about it. They say it’s to avoid complications, so they just say it’s for hiring an executive assistant.”

Listening, Shu Pan was absolutely stunned. She had always thought it was for the executive assistant position, which is why she had submitted her resume. She hadn’t expected such an insider story.

Shu Pan stood up, followed Xiaomei into the interview room where three interviewers were sitting: two appeared to be about 40 years old, a man and a woman, and one younger man in the middle, around 30, wearing glasses and looking gentle.

The younger one asked first, “Are you married? Do you have kids?”

Shu Pan was stunned. They were asking such personal questions directly in an interview now? But she had nothing to hide either, so she answered openly, “Married, and my child is 5 years old.”

The woman next to him gave her an extra look, “Have you worked as an assistant or in secretarial roles before?”

Shu Pan thought for a moment, “Sort of.” After all, she knew the procedures of those jobs.

There was a time when Gu Shaoting had stomach issues, and she followed him to the company every day. Gu Shaoting wasn’t comfortable with other people fussing around him, so Shu Pan took over the secretarial work for over a month. That period was really exhausting.

She deeply felt the heavy responsibility her husband carried, even just the workload of a secretary was substantial.
