Chapter 8: Golden Transformation, I’ll Go Easy, Don’t Worry!
With the roar, the River Turtle transformed directly into its true form, a colossal turtle appearing before Zhang Beixuan. The turtle’s shell was covered in spikes, and its mouth was full of razor-sharp teeth. Such a creature could crush an entire cargo ship!
At this moment, the colossal turtle’s face was filled with boundless rage.
“Foul Daoist, I shall have your death!”
It roared in anger, causing the entire riverbed to tremble. Simultaneously, a pitch-black light gathered in the turtle’s mouth and came crashing towards Zhang Beixuan.
Zhang Beixuan gazed at the colossal turtle that had already revealed its true form and shook his head slightly.
“I thought there might be a surprise, but you’re just trash. I won’t play with you anymore. Daoist me has to return for my wedding.”
At this moment, Zhang Beixuan finally stopped concealing his true power. His innate cultivation burst forth, and a terrifying aura reached its peak, directly dispersing the dark light. The overwhelming aura also pushed back the colossal turtle’s body, and stumbled repeatedly. The once-boastful turtle now stared wide-eyed.
“How can you be this strong! This can’t be possible!”
The turtle couldn’t believe it. The Daoist before it was at most in his early twenties. Even if he had been cultivating from birth, reaching such a level was impossible.
“Are you saying it’s impossible, so it’s impossible?”
Zhang Beixuan formed a giant hammer from the golden light in his hand. Although the Golden Light Spell was only a basic divine spell from Dragon Tiger Mountain, it had reached its maximum level. Its power was no less than any divine technique.
In that classic senior-aged anime, the elderly Taoist used this max-level Golden Light Spell to easily handle even the Eight Wonders techniques.
You can say that Zhang Beixuan is fearless even against higher-level evil spirits, let alone this Ao creature.
“Die!”
with a step, Zhang Beixuan swung the giant golden hammer down upon the colossal turtle.
Boom!
The hammer struck the turtle’s shell with a loud explosion. A piercing and miserable scream echoed through the area. The colossal turtle’s body was instantly shattered into pieces, beyond any hope of revival. At that moment, Zhang Beixuan heard the system’s voice in his mind.
“Ding! Congratulations to the host for defeating the hundred-year-old Ao creature, earning 1100 reward points.”
1100 points?!
Zhang Beixuan’s pupils dilated slightly as he heard the system’s voice. That was enough for three attempts at the blank card lottery! Just one Ao creature had provided him with so many points. The lottery seemed easier to access than he had initially thought.
Zhang Beixuan’s gaze immediately landed on the nearby female corpse. She was still kneeling beside the cave, her mouth wide open, staring blankly at Zhang Beixuan. It took her a moment to react, and then she began frantically kowtowing.
“Forgive me, Lord! Spare me! Everything was forced upon me by that Ao creature!”
Zhang Beixuan looked at the pleading female corpse with a brilliant smile on his face.
“Spare your life? Alright. As long as you can withstand one blow from me, I’ll spare you,” Zhang Beixuan said with a smirk. “How about that? It seems pretty easy, doesn’t it?”
The female corpse was utterly baffled.
“What? Spare me if I can withstand one blow from you. Are you kidding me? I couldn’t even handle that Ao creature’s attack earlier! You expect me to use my head to withstand yours?”
“Lord, please don’t tease me. I’m not that courageous. As long as you spare me, I will submit to you. You can have me do whatever you want!” she pleaded, still trying to negotiate.
Zhang Beixuan couldn’t help but shake his head. “Shut up!”
Without wasting more time, Zhang Beixuan’s figure flashed, and he appeared right before the female corpse. He raised his golden giant hammer and struck it down at her. A terrifying force tore through the air, creating a loud boom.
*Boom!*
The giant hammer descended. In Zhang Beixuan’s line of sight, he saw the female corpse’s head explode like a watermelon, splattering everywhere.
“Ding! Congratulations, host, for killing the water ghost and earning reward points,” the system’s notification sound rang out once more.
“Damn, using a hammer is really satisfying,” Zhang Beixuan sighed with relief.
He looked at the smashed female corpse with satisfaction. It was a pity that this thing wasn’t worth much; it only gave a hundred points. Spitting silently, he withdrew his gaze. Zhang Beixuan hadn’t forgotten his purpose for coming here. His steps flickered as he charged straight into the heart of this dragon’s den.
Just as he entered, he smelled a pungent and foul odour.
“It really stinks,” Zhang Beixuan wrinkled his brow.
He had barely taken a few steps when he saw a pile of bones resembling small mountains in his line of sight. There were animal bones and even fish and shrimp skeletons among them. Mixed within these bones were quite a few human bones.
Zhang Beixuan didn’t examine it closely. He walked directly past these corpses. A cage slowly appeared. Inside the cage, a seemingly formless soul stood motionless in place.
