Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 401 Calling for Help

The leader of these bandits stepped forward while the Talisman in his hand glinted ominously as if it was ready to be activated.

"Don't resist, and wear the handcuffs we prepared for you." As he said this, the others tapped the handcuffs on their waist as they waited for Diana's group to lower their weapons.

However, there was no way they would let themselves be captured without a fight.

Diana glanced at Sandra and the others. They were all ready to start the battle.

"Gregor and Kaela will attack first… Since you both can use Aura… You should be fine… We will support you behind." Diana whispered.

The leader smirked as he realized that they wouldn't be going down without a fight. He had already expected this much, so he didn't mind.

Then, a glint of menace appeared in his eyes. "Then you leave me no choice. Prepare to be... subdued!"

As the ringleader raised his Talisman, the air crackled with energy, and the rest of the group moved to encircle them.

"Silence!"

The Talisman activated and at the same time, Diana and Sandra realized that they could no longer use their Talents and Survivor Skills.

Sandra immediately felt a chill on her body since if this Silence Talisman had been activated while he was flying, she would definitely die once she dropped to the ground.

However, it seemed that this Talisman still had some limitations. Perhaps it wasn't a high-grade item since Gregor and Kaela could still use their Aura!

Diana then noticed that the others were also about to attack them with other Talismans. She had to act quickly…

She turned to Gregor and Kaela…

"Gregor, Kaela, attack first! Let's see how those talismans work. Defend with your Aura. We'll support you from behind."

Both warriors nodded, and they fearlessly made their move.

Gregor gripped his axe tightly, the muscles in his arms flexed as he charged forward… Kaela shifted her stance, halberd in hand, as she prepared to unleash a long-range attack with her Aura.

As Gregor charged forward, the leader's smirk deepened. It seemed that he was waiting for it… He looked at the charging Hunter and made his move.

"Foolish choice!" he shouted, raising his Talisman high. "Let's show them the power of our magic!"

It was a signal for everyone to use a certain type of Talisman.

Each Talisman usage would cost them 20 Spirit Points. It was a bit expensive, but it was because the Talisman was special. They were confident that with this set of items, they would be able to capture even the top 10 Survivors in the leaderboard!

Then, among the eight people, four of them activated their paper talismans…

"Bind!"

As soon as they shouted, black chains materialized from the talismans, coiling like snakes and slithering toward Gregor and Kaela. These chains aimed to ensnare them!

The chains were also oozing with black smoke as if it would also poison its captured target!

Simultaneously, the other four enemies, including the leader, unleashed their talismans.

"Fire Ball!"

Just like the name of the Talisman, fireballs erupted from the paper in their hands.

It started with the burning of the Talisman, and the flames from it started spiraling and turned into fireballs! Just a single Talisman could actually produce a total of three fireballs!

Then, they flew toward the two warriors!

"Watch out!" Diana shouted, instinctively raising her pistol to provide cover. The fireballs arced through the air, a fiery storm seeking to engulf her allies.

However, the two Legendary-Grade Warriors had already acted.

Gregor, quick on his feet, swung his axe in a wide arc, slicing through the chains attempting to bind him. "I won't be caught by some chains!" he yelled. Even a couple of chains that tried to wrap on him was not enough! His pure strength and Aura were able to overpower the magical bonds.

Kaela also released her attack, and her two Aura strikes hit two heads, smashing them into paste!x

Thud! Thud!

After killing two of them, she finally turned her attention to the fireballs and faced them head-on. With a jolt of her weapon, she angled her halberd and struck the first fireball!

Bam!

The impact caused a fiery explosion that sent flames scattering in all directions.

The power of the fireballs was indeed very strong, like a cannonball but with her halberd and Aura, she believed that she could stop even a dozen of them at the same time.

"Is that all you've got?" Kaela taunted, and her confidence rose as she dodged or parried the remaining fireballs.

Boom! Boom!

Of course, the other two didn't just watch their recruits.

Diana and Sandra took aim, firing their pistols at the enemies wielding the talismans, hoping to disrupt their focus.

Bang! Bang!

Each shot rang out, as they sought to kill these bandits…

However, after one of them was shot to death, the others immediately took cover!

There were still five enemies alive!

The leader was already having a bad premonition as he realized that the chains and fireballs weren't enough to even defeat one of their enemies!

He felt too unlucky to encounter them!

Well, he was indeed unfortunate as he had no idea that he was dealing with two warriors who had been recruited with Legendary Recruitment Stones.

However, they still have a few Talismans in their possession.

Indeed, despite the chaos, the enemies pressed forward and activated another set of paper talismans.

Several chains reformed, and their fireballs continued to rain down.

"Die! Die! Do you think you can defeat us? We have tons of these Talismans! We've also called for reinforcements!" The leader shouted as he started feeling desperate. Nothing was going according to plan.

A few days ago, he was also about to capture a few people who had been fleeing from them when they suddenly obtained powerful prosthetics… A bunch of people who had lost their arms and feet should've been an easy win for him.

However, it was too late when he realized that someone in the marketplace had been selling strange prosthetics. When he was able to confront those groups again, he had been defeated and had to escape with his life.

This time, he recalled the same event, and he wanted to ensure that he wouldn't fail anymore or his Clan Leader might really kill him!

"Then we'll end this before your reinforcements arrive!" Sandra yelled back, her eyes narrowed as she focused on the leader.

The Silence talisman was still in effect, and she couldn't use her Survivor Skills yet. She could only rely on her weapons for now.

She aimed carefully, determined to take him down… However, the leader knew that he was the main target and always kept himself hidden.

The battle raged on, with Gregor and Kaela pushing against the chains while dodging or parrying the fireballs.

Diana and Sandra provided cover fire. Their shots aimed to disrupt the enemies' concentration.

Their small group worked seamlessly as they picked off enemies one by one.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

As Kaela and Gregor's Aura started to dissipate, the victory of the battle soon became obvious.

After killing most of the enemies, the tide seemed to shift in their favor as the number of talismans being thrown had lessened.

There were only two enemies present: the leader and one of his companions.

Diana knew that they'd won this battle, but just as their spirits began to soar, the leader raised his Talisman high. His face was filled with desperation!

"You will pay for this!" He yelled.

Drawing his remaining Spirit Points, he unleashed a surge of dark energy that enveloped his remaining subordinate. Suddenly, this person burst with power and charged forward!Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Diana knew that something was off.

"Don't engage in close combat. Kill him from a distance!" Diana shouted and the two warriors threw their axes and halberd without hesitation!

Thud! Thud!

As soon as the person was struck, his body suddenly bloated and exploded!

Boom!

It was similar to the explosion of Spitter Zombie! It wasn't too strong, but it was filled with nasty blood and flesh instead of acid.

This time, as Sandra confirmed that the Silence effect was gone, she looked for the leader and realized that he was already far away. Nonetheless, this person still looked at their group.

"Fools!" He shouted…

"You may have bested my minions, but you've not seen the last of me!"

With that, he turned on his heel and sprinted into the shadows, leaving his fallen comrades behind.

The group exchanged glances, catching their breath as the adrenaline from the fight began to disappear. They had won, but there was little time to celebrate!

Suddenly, the earth trembled as they heard the sound of off-road cars rushing in their direction!

A chill ran through the group as a new wave of danger started getting closer. Diana, still catching her breath, had to make a decision…

The first thing she did was to send a message to Shane and ask for help!
