Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.464 Fusion Gate Tournament – part 7

CH.464 Fusion Gate Tournament – part 7

“I am so proud of both of you. You both took to this game like nothing, and masterfully commanded your decks through the tournament.” I began my speech at the award ceremony. “Honestly speaking, when I added some of the cards to my own deck, I didn’t think you stood a chance. But not only did you stand against the power of my Five-Headed Dragon, but you even took down the Dragon Master Knight.

“And Nevelle, I didn’t forget about you. You gave up your chance to challenge me to let your brother have the chance. I cannot say if you would have won or not, but since you are still studying here, I’m sure we can find the time for a match at a later date.

“But enough about my yapping. Let’s get onto the awards.”

“Nevelle. For winning the Fusion Gate Tournament, I’d like to reward you with the Fusion Gate trophy.” I said, as I brought a large trophy out of Storage. It was mostly gold, but it had different kinds of gems embedded into it, the gems forming a decently accurate depiction of the Fusion Gate card. It even had the cards effect text carved in and everything.

Spoiler

“On top of this trophy, there is the award I promised.” I continued as I opened up Pack Opener and my Collection. “Gaia The Fierce Knight and Gilford the Legend. Two amazing warriors for you two summon.”

Spoiler

“But of course it might be difficult for you to use them without this.” I got a Card Summoner skill orb out of Collection. “A skill orb for the Card Summoner skill. A skill required to use those cards.”

“Thank you.” Nevelle responded, as she received her award.

I then moved to Elias.

“As for you, the one that defeated the Five-Headed Dragon, I will admit, I didn’t have a trophy prepared for you. But luckily, I had just enough time to get one made.” I said, as I brought out a second trophy. His wasn’t gold, but instead a kind of a pinkish purple. I wanted to make something almost exactly like the color of Fusion monster cards, but I somewhat failed, because I didn’t have the time to make the perfect color.

… oh yeah, Elias’ trophy is anodized aluminum.

And naturally, as it is his reward for taking down the Five-Headed Dragon, It had a carving of the Five-Headed Dragon. It wasn’t a gem inlay like Nevelle’s was, because again, this was a rush job, but it looked decent in my opinion. But I did use some metallic paint to make sure each of the heads was coloured properly at least.

Spoiler

“For you, I also have the reward promised. Victory Dragon and three Troop Dragons. It is fitting that this dragon would end up with you, as you are the one who has been riding on its back. But from now on, you will be able to call it yourself. Because like your sister, you will also get your own Card Summoner skill orb.”

Spoiler

After handing all of that to Elias, I took a step back and looked at my winners. While also making sure Tahlia was taking mental pictures that I could print out later.

“Oh and one last special reward. I will be making both of you your own custom duel disks.” I added. “So please have a look at the duel disks my employees and fiances carry, see what you like, and think about what you want in yours. It will take a bit of time, but I will make them and make sure you get them.”

After the award ceremony was naturally a dinner. It had been a day … well, the tournament actually took place over two days, but whatever. First day were the qualifiers and second day had the semi-finals, the finals and then finally the ‘creator’ match.

I know it is wrong to call myself the creator, because I’m just using a game that is already a thing, but I am reintroducing it in a different world, so from their point of view, I am the creator of the game.

After dinner, some of the competitors decided to leave, while others stayed for the night. There were even some more duels after dinner, like Alice and Ula having their bronze match.

I won’t go over it in detail, but Ula won 2-1. Her ‘weaker’ monsters were just a better go at Alice’s Magic Cylinder strat, while Non-Fusion Area prevented Alice from easily summoning her monsters.

Spoiler

The next day, I showed Nevelle and Elias how to summon a monster, even though both of them got it before I ever had to do anything. Elias was a bit saddened by the fact that he couldn’t summon his Victory Dragon until he had a duel disk, but sadly that is just how it will have to go. I don’t have generic GX duel disks ready to go and since I added Owner’s Seals into all the duel disks I’ve produced, I can even lend him one.

Spoiler

Maybe I should make a few generic GX duel disks just to have them. And if I make them so that they can’t fully compress into a bracer, but just fold up like the anime versions, they won’t even be all that expensive.

Well, something to consider before the next tournament. Or more like before I hand out the next Card Summoner skill orbs.

Later that day, I returned all the competitors to their homes, really putting this tournament to rest.

And now that it is all over, it is time for me to get back to what I do. … which in this case is opening packs.

… what? I want to open some packs after a few days of actually playing Yugioh. It was fun and I need new cards, so I can host another tournament.

And while I know I’ve still not yet fully completed Light of Destruction, I won’t be going with that set today. Today I want to open some packs with Synchro monsters, like .

So let’s do ten packs. If I feel up to it, I may do more.

Spoiler

Well, Synchro Deflector is new. Sure it is basically just a more limited Sakuretsu Armor, but that doesn’t mean it is bad.

Next.

Spoiler

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

Ooh? Emergency Teleport! That’s nice. … well, it is nice in the TCG, but kind of useless for me. Unlimited searching and summoning and all of that.

Still a great card to have and I can probably use it to develop my teleportation tech even further.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

Nothing new here, but Cold Enchanter does remind me that maybe I should look into the ‘in between attributes’ magics. Mainly lightning and ice. Wilma and Karl can both already use Metal magic, and it is definitely a support kind of magic, not an offensive magic.

I mean you can use it offensively, but since you can’t just make metal out of nowhere with Metal Magic, it is quite a bit more limited than the other magics.

But lightning and ice magics would be cool. Sure I probably can’t learn them, since they do require an affinity for one of the ‘parent affinities’, Wind or Water for Lightning and Water or Dark for Ice. Of course the best results come from those that have both.

But yeah. I should at least have some books on the subjects, so I should look for those.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Handcuffs Dragon is new. And it is alright. Not super amazing, but equipping to an opponent and weakening them a lot can definitely be useful. And it comes back after that opponent is defeated. So a pretty decent monster.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

Mind Master is new, but … you know what I’m going to say. Unlimited searching and summoning. Still nice to have though.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Toy Magician is new, and it is a secret rare. … Sadly it isn’t all that good. It also isn’t a synchro and I really want a new synchro monster, so let’s do a few more packs.

Maybe like … five? Hopefully five more will get me a synchro.

Spoiler

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

Nothing new, next.

Spoiler

Two new cards. Power Filter is … interesting. I do wonder if it would even work. It probably will, but it will still only prevent weak summons.

And Big Piece Golem is just a worse Cyber Dragon that came out years after the OG Cyber Dragon. It really should have been able to special summon itself.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Nothing new here, but Telekinetic Charging Cell does make me think. Maybe I could use it to make some sort of Telekinesis training device? I might look into that.

Next pack.

Spoiler

… nothing new here. … and I still didn’t get a Synchro monster. So … five more?

And I swear to the Goddess, these five better have a Synchro or I’ll let lose an excessive number of pack tokens.

Spoiler

Nothing new, next.

Spoiler

Nothing new, next.

Spoiler

Sinister Sprocket is new and it … well, it is a tuner and not terrible. But it isn’t a Synchro monster.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Nothing new. And the next pack better have a Synchro or else.

Spoiler

… okay Pack Opener. You asked for this. I have the power of Laura and unlimited Pack tokens by my side, so I Will Win!

And if you don’t believe me, here, have these 100 pack tokens!

Spoiler

Okay. See now we are talking. … still somehow didn’t get a Stardust Dragon, but I did get some other Synchoes.

But let’s go over all the new stuff. First of all Izanami and Yamato-no-Kami. Both are Spirit monsters and neither is that good.

Defense Draw is fine, but there are better cards that do the same.

Mind Over Matter does negate summons, but again, I have better stuff for that.

Ice Master is nice. She looks pretty, has good attack, a decent effect and is just all around a good Water Spellcaster. And as you might know, I don’t have that many amazing Water Spellcasters, because all my Spellcasters are freaking Dark Attribute.

Avenging Knight Parshath is a good Synchro monster. Not amazing, just good.

Kinka-byo is another stupid spirit.

Magical Android is a Synchro so that is nice. It also has a healing effect, which is also nice.

Kunai with Chain is somehow something I didn’t have yet. I honestly thought I did, but apparently it wasn’t printed earlier, or it is stuck in some structure deck or bonus set I don’t have access to.

Intercept sound cool, but it is a bit too specific.

Gladiator Beast War Chariot is a decent counter trap, but sadly it only works with Glad Beasts.

Montage Dragon is really cool. And I can easily summon it with an absolute butt ton of attack. I can just toss three LV.12 monsters for it, and it will gain 10,800 attack.

Nitro Warrior is a pretty decent Synchro monster, and I got both the ultra and ultimate rare versions of it.

Thought Ruler Archfiend is luckily draconic looking enough to where I think I can use it without someone thinking I just summoned an actual demon. It is also nice and strong, so very nice to have.

And Goyo Guardian is busted. Honestly. I can’t believe the fact that Goyo Guardian was in the first set with Synchro monsters. It is … well it used to be, a generic LV.6 Synchro with 2800 attack. And it summons the monster it destroyed by battle to your side of the field. That is amazing. … which is why Goyo Guardian was banned for a while.

But it isn’t banned from me and I like having it.

Spoiler

So 14 new cards in total. Not as many as I was hoping from 100 packs, but I guess I’ll just have to live with it.
