Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.462 Fusion Gate Tournament – part 5

CH.462 Fusion Gate Tournament – part 5

After the final match of the tournament, before the entire match against the ‘game’s maker’, it was time for dinner.

And during said dinner, Nevelle approached me with a request.

“... Brian. Would it be possible for me to let my brother challenge you instead?” She asked.

“You want to give up your chance to get a dragon?” I asked.

“No! … well yes, but no. I don’t want that dragon. It … it is the dragon my brother has ridden, so I feel like it belongs to him.” Nevelle reasoned. “So I feel like it belongs to him more than me. Like he … he has more to fight for.”

I understood her reasoning, but apparently, Nevelle wasn’t done.

“I honestly don’t think I can win against you. And this isn’t just me being pessimistic. I know I came to the final matches undefeated, but I’m not sure how much of that was my skill and how much was my opponents being … not the greatest.” Nevelle added the last part quietly.

“The same goes for your brother, you know. No one in this tournament is someone I’d consider ‘the greatest’.”

“Doesn’t matter. … do you accept or not?” Nevelle asked.

“Does Elias accept this? Also, you know the reward only included one Card Summoner skill orb, so how will you share it?”

“... Alice may have told me you can make them easily, so I was hoping…”

“That I’d give both of you one? … fine. Because I’m the best and kindest host, I can do that.” I said, and Nevelle got a bright smile onto her face. “But.” I quickly interrupted her. “It will come with a cost.” I said, trying to gauge her reaction. “And not the money kind.” I know a money cost won’t matter that much to a member of the Royal family. “Instead, I will make my deck more difficult, and Elias will still have to beat me. That is my offer. Do you accept?”

“... I accept.”

I then called Elias over and asked him if he’d agree, and he did. So we were set to go for the final match of the tournament, which won’t be me against Nevelle, but me against Elias.

“And now, the creator match is about to begin!” Alice called out. She was our annoncer and judge, since I was going to be taking part in this match.

Yes the duel tables do have quite decent computer systems so they can also detect cheating, but we can also have a judge, so we will.

“At the request of the winner, Nevelle, she won’t be taking part in this final match, instead letting the silver medalist take the stage against our lovely host Brian. So please come up to the stage, Elias!”

Elias did just that, walking up to the duel table and set his deck down on the deck slot. Alice then took both of our decks and shuffled them one after the other.

With the decks shuffled, the only thing left was picking who would go first.

“As the challenger, Elias will be allowed to pick who will go first.” Alice said.

It was naturally something I came up with. I don’t care if I go first or second, so I’ll just let my challenger pick.

“I will let you go first.” Elias said.

“I see. Then let’s duel.” I said.

“Draw your opening hands, and begin the duel!” Alice said.

I did just that and looked over my opening hand. And what a hand did I get.

My opening hand consisted of Painful Choice, Dragon's Mirror, Dragon's Rage, Stamping Destruction and Monster Reborn.

Spoiler

… what? You think it is unfair that I run cards that weren’t allowed in the tournament?

Well, all of these cards actually were. I do have a few cards in my deck that weren’t, but all of these were allowed. Don’t ask me why no one ran Painful Choice or Dragon's Mirror. Dragon's Rage and Stamping Destruction I actually understand, as they can be quite specific and Big Bang Attack and Mystical Space Typhoon are somewhat better versions of them.

And Monster Reborn is literally the most common card in the tournament. It is more popular than Pot of Greed for crying out loud. There wasn't a single competitor who didn't have Monster Reborn in their deck.

But you know my opening hand, so let me show you what I can do with it. And maybe reveal one of the ‘super cards’ I added to my deck when I allowed for the switch of my opponent.

“I’ll start with my Painful Choice. I’ll reveal 5 cards from my deck. You will pick one of them. I’ll add it to my hand, and the rest to the graveyard.” I began. I then searched my deck for five dragons.

Three copies of Winged Dragon Guardian of the Fortress #1 and two Fairy Dragons later, I revealed all five to Elias.

Spoiler

“... not giving me much of a choice I see. Take a Fairy Dragon.” He picked the card for me to add and I sent the rest to the GY, while Alice shuffled my deck. “So, do you have a resurrection card? Will I see that Kaiser Dragon?”

Spoiler

“I do, but that is for later. Because you deserve to face a monster greater than Kaiser Dragon. Be prepared to face the God Dragon.” I told him, and Elias’ face seemed to lose just a bit of color when he heard that. “And that will start with this. I normal summon Fairy Dragon. Then, I’ll play Dragon’s Mirror. With it, I’ll banish the four dragons in my graveyard as well as the one on my field.”

“Five dragons unite to form the ultimate deity that brings nothing but destruction! Behold as its five heads bring calamity to all that is beneath! Fusion Summon! Level 12!”

“Roar, Five-Headed Dragon!”

Spoiler

I grinned like a maniac as the FGD appeared on our dueling arena. It just feels great to ‘legally’ cheat in my own tournament because of the opponent switch.

“Wh-What is that? That card wasn’t in the booklet!” Elias asked.

“True. It is a special card I wasn’t going to use. But since Nevelle begged me to let you challenge me, I decided I’d go all out and bring in some big guns. And the Five-Headed Dragon is the biggest and the strongest dragon there is!” I told him.

“And to make matters worse for you, my Five-Headed Dragon cannot be destroyed by battle, except by a Light-attribute monster. I suppose lucky you your Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon is Light-attribute. Just a shame my Five-Headed Dragon is stronger!”

“I’ll set one card face down and end my turn.” I capped off my turn by setting my Dragon's Rage.

“... alright. If that is what I have to take down to win, I will. My turn.” Elias said. “I’ll start off by discarding Thunder Dragon, so I can add two more Thunder Dragons from my deck to my hand. I’ll then play Upstart Goblin to draw a card. I’ll then fuse together my two Thunder Dragons to summon Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon in defense mode. I’ll then set a monster face down and end my turn.”

Spoiler

“... I guess that is something. You put up a defense.” I taunted. “My turn. I draw.” The card I drew was one of my three Blue-Eyes White Dragons, so I won’t be needing it for now. Instead.

Spoiler

“Before we battle, I’ll activate my Continuous Trap, Dragon's Rage. With it, when my Dragon-type monster attacks a defense position monster, you are dealt piercing damage.

“Now battle. Five-Headed Dragon, show Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon why you are called the Five-God Dragon!”

The attack naturally went through, Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon was destroyed and Elias took 2900 damage.

“I’ll end my turn.”

“... alright. My turn. I draw.” Elias began his turn. “And I’ll activate Graceful Charity. I’ll draw three cards and then I’ll discard Hibikime and Blue-Eyes White Dragon.”

Spoiler

“... then I’ll use Silent Doom to bring back Blue-Eyes White Dragon!”

Spoiler

“And so, the white dragon rises to oppose the dragon god. But it alone won’t be enough.” I said.

“... maybe. I’ll end my turn.” Elias ended his turn.

Spoiler

“Then it is my turn. I draw.” I started my turn. “And I think I’ll activate the Pot of Greed I drew. Thanks to it, I’ll draw two more cards.”

Spoiler

The cards I drew were two more cheat cards. Ultimate Fusion and Goddess with the Third Eye.

Spoiler

Originally Ultimate Fusion was going to be my one cheat card, just to guarantee I can summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, but since I was ‘allowed’ to add a few more, I added Goddess with the Third Eye to just act as another copy of Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

It is also something I can use to summon a certain cheaty extra deck monster. The one that I have there in case Five-Headed Dragon is taken down.

But maybe I’ll get to summon it later. For now.

“Five-Headed Dragon! Attack his face down monster!” I declared my attack.

Elias’ defending monster was Queen’s Double, and it only has 300 defense, so Elias took 4700 damage, leaving him with only 400 life points remaining.

Spoiler

“Go ahead, Elias. It is your turn.”

“I will! I draw!” He started his turn. “And I’ll use my Pot of Greed to draw two more. Then I’ll fuse the Blue-Eyes on my field with the two in my hand, so I can summon the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!”

Spoiler

“Now battle! Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, attack Five-Headed Dragon!” Elias went on the offense. I was just a bit tempted to trash talk, but I knew what was coming. “During the damage step, I’ll activate Rush Recklessly, so my Ultimate Dragon gains 700 more attack. Which is just enough to put down your God Dragon.”

Spoiler

I watched as Elias’ Ultimate Dragon destroyed my Five-Headed Dragon, but I wasn’t scared.  After all, I knew there was a decent chance this would happen. That is why I decided to use Five-Headed Dragon. If Elias stood no chance, this wouldn’t be fun.

“I’ll set one card face down and end my turn.” Elias said, and a small smirk appeared on his face. He must be feeling high because he took down my dragon.

Let’s see if we can take him down a peg.

Spoiler

“My turn. I draw!” I started my turn, and I got a perfect card for this situation. “I’ll play Tribute to the Doomed! With it, I’ll discard a Blue-Eyes White Dragon to destroy your Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.”

Spoiler

We both watched as Elias’ Ultimate Dragon was wrapped in bindings, before it was dragged into the GY.

“I’ll then activate Monster Reborn to bring back Blue-Eyes …”

“Not so fast!” Elias interrupted. “I’m using my Call of the Haunted to bring back my Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon! Now you cannot summon it to your field.”

Spoiler

“... two things. One, you mistimed your effect, as I hadn’t declared the target of my Monster Reborn yet, so I could just pick anything now. Two, I was never after your Ultimate Dragon. I’m summoning my own Blue-Eyes White Dragon.” I told him, as my white dragon resurrected from the graveyard.

“... but why? My Ultimate Dragon is more powerful. Why wouldn’t you go after it? And why didn’t you resurrect your Five-Headed Dragon?”

“I’ll answer the second question first. Five-Headed Dragon is powerful, but it does have a weakness. It must be Fusion Summoned, so it cannot be summoned from the graveyard, unless the card you use either ignores summoning conditions, or treats the summon as a fusion summon. Monster Reborn doesn’t.

And second, I don’t need your Ultimate Dragon. All I need is this.” I said as I activated the spell that will end this duel.

“Stamping Destruction! Since I control a Dragon-type monster, I can target and destroy one of your spells or traps. And then you’ll take 500 damage. So I’ll destroy your Call of the Haunted, and end this duel.”

My Blue-Eyes hologram stamped all over Call of the Haunted, destroying it and dragging the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon with it to the GY.

Elias then took the damage, and his life points were reduced to zero, and I won the first duel of our match.
