Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.445 Seaside Paradise Fissure, part 1

CH.445 Seaside Paradise Fissure, part 1

“Hello again, Brian.” The Goddess greeted me. I was once again invited from my dreams, which I don’t actually remember having, to the System parlor. But this time, I was alone.

“Pleasure. So … another fissure?” I guessed.

“Yes, but this one is problematic. Because it is going to appear in a dungeon.”

“... yeah. That’s not good.” I agreed, realizing how bad the excessive amount of mana, miasma and creation energy could be for a dungeon.

At best, it will just give the dungeon a major boost in miasma and mana levels, without causing any adverse effects. Sure monsters will be a bit more powerful and there will be more of them for a while, while the levels come down. But that is the best case scenario.

Much more likely is a mass evolution for the dungeon monsters. Or a mass forming of new monsters. Both of which could lead to overcrowding in the dungeon and possibly a stampede of monsters coming out of the dungeon.

Or one of the monsters might start killing all the others, gathering more power and evolving further.

And all of that isn’t even considering the chance that the fissure will just give birth to a new SS-rank monster.

“Okay. Which dungeon and where?” I asked.

“It is an SS-rank dungeon called the Seaside Paradise, located on the south-east shore of Bella Kingdom. I’ve had one of my agents appear as an angel in the visions of the priests there, so they will know something is wrong with the dungeon, but they won’t know what, as that detail is still something we wish to keep hidden.”

“So at least we don’t have to act like nothing's wrong.”

“Yes. I wish for you to head there as soon as you can. You can explain things better than agents can in the visions.”

“... Yeah. Doesn’t mean that I like it.”

“I do apologize for that. There is simply no one else we can trust to do this.”

“... you need to give more people a System Support.”

“Do you believe they would have the power you do?” The Goddess asked. “And more than that, do you believe they wouldn’t use that authority for something bad? As you’ve learned, System Supports become System Agents after they retire. Be it because of the holder's death or because we must remove the System Support.

At that time they became a part of the System, and they get the right to vote on System decisions. And while their rights can be removed, and they can even be destroyed, it isn’t a simple process.

Because of that, we have to be either very careful, or very interested in someone to give them a System Support. In your case, it was because of our interest towards your unique skill. But I do have to say, if asked to vote on it again, we would all vote yes.”

“Good to know I’ve lived up to your expectations.” I told them.

“You really have. Also, after the fissure, if possible, I would like you to go and check on the dungeon’s core. It may get damaged by all that power.”

“Sure. I’ll just have to get the dungeon master to help me. Wouldn’t want to intrude.” I said with a smirk.

“Yes. Because you have never intruded into a dungeon to do unkind things to a dungeon core. What did you call it? Hacking the dungeon core?”

“Hey! Those were with … okay, one of them was with permission. I’ll admit that the Hallow Prison was without, but that was a special case.” I complained. “And besides, when did you start being sassy?”

“Perhaps I’ve been holding back.” The Goddess said, in a voice that didn’t sound like she usually did. She sounded quite a bit more sadistic than usually.

“... okay. Now I know you are just acting. You are way too motherly for that voice.”

“Yes. Perhaps I am.” She responded, with a gentle smile forming on her face. “The information shall be sent to Laura. She will have it by the time you wake up. So just enjoy the rest of your night.” The Goddess said, before my vision went dark.

“Sorry, but I can’t come.” Lua said. “I still have dhampirs to train, and I can’t just leave them to your monsters.”

“Don’t worry. I understand. Alice?”

“Of course I’m coming.” She responded.

“Good. … Cailie, what do you think?”

“... Yes. I want to come.” She said. “As long as you don’t think I’ll be in the way.”

“You won’t be.” I reassured her. “In fact, I think your unique skill will be extremely helpful.”

“T-thank you.”

“... but you may need a bit more power.” I said, as I got a skill orb out of Storage. One of the Card Summoner kind. And yes, I do keep a handful of them on me. Only five, plus the first one, but I won’t use the first one.

“A-Are you sure? Aren’t these expensive?” Cailie asked.

“Come on. They aren’t that bad.” I told her. “And besides, I use resources for dummer stuff than giving people skills. Especially when you consider how powerful Card Summoner can really be when you are with me.”

“And he already gave one to Paulina. If he can spare one for my aunt, he can give one to you.” Alice pointed out.

“I … I suppose, but…”

“Cailie.” I said, trying to sound as sincere as I could. “I know you have some … issues when it comes to receiving gifts, but you have to let me spoil you. The Goddess knows you haven’t been spoiled enough.”

“... I don’t mind … if you spoil me more. … but maybe not with gifts. I think …”

“I can show you physical affection as well.” I promised.

“... I don’t mean to cut in.” Unika raised her voice. “But isn’t this supposed to be a strategy meeting and not a cuddle session?”

“Oh? Someone is jealous.” Alice teased.

“... maybe if he was in his cat-folk form.” Unika said so quietly that I doubt most of us heard. But I did. “No.” She then answered Alice. “I just want to get this meeting over with, so I can take Nitrum for a ride.”

“Good.” I said to bring us back on track, while making sure Cailie was holding onto the skill orb. “Because you are coming too.”

“Sure.” Unika accepted.

“Einar, Eline. Do you two want to come?” I asked the two cat-folk. I won’t force them like Unika, but their help would be nice. They are still quite powerful and we have a dungeon we need to clear.

The two cat-folk looked at each other, before Einar answered for them.

“If you want us to come, Master.”

“Your help would be appreciated. While I won’t allow you to fight the SS-ranks or whatever comes out of the miasma blob, you can help with the regular dungeon monsters.”

“Yes, Master.” Eline answered.

“What about us?” Ria asked, referring to herself and Agunan.

“You can come or stay, Ria, but Agunan has to stay here. I don’t know how many days this will take, so I need my dungeon master taking care of HomeBase. Sadly there still are things my monsters can’t take care of.”

“Do not worry, Master. I shall make sure your domain is in perfect condition, awaiting your return.” Agunan promised. “... unlike what you did with mine.”

“Hey! I just added a Lava Golem and a prisoner there. If anything, it made your volcano a lot more popular, as the dragons visit it so they can see the prisoner.”

“... I didn’t know my sister turned into a showpiece. I wonder if she hates it or loves the attention?” Cailie pondered.

“She probably strives for it.” Alice commented. “She just seems like that kind of person, especially as she’d been imprisoned somewhere where only someone who brought her food would visit her.”

“We are getting sidetracked again.” Unika pointed out.

“Yeah. Sorry. But we are pretty much done. Ria, your answer? Are you coming or not?”

“... I’ll stay. Don’t want to leave Lua all alone with all the students. And besides, I did just have my little adventure with Agunan, so I don’t need another one.”

“Alright. So with our squad decided, I’ll let you all of to prepare for the trip. If you need anything specific, contact Wilma or I as soon as possible.” I said, bringing the meeting to an end.

I then headed for my office, so that I could get in contact with the guild master of the guild closest to Seaside Paradise.

The guild master had already shared some news about priests in the area getting visions about an up and coming danger in the dungeon, and he had asked for reinforcements. But with minimal information on what was coming, it really wasn’t all that helpful. The Goddess really needs to improve the Holy Vision spell, so that it can actually give some nice information and not just messy images.

Luckily I was able to fill in the information people were missing, but sadly, it didn’t make things better. Learning that an ‘ancient curse of the demon lord’ would cause a miasma accident inside a dungeon didn’t exactly reassure the people.

Instead they began looking at high ranking adventurers they could bring in. And when they said they are looking for high rankers, it means they are only looking for S-rankers. I did promise to taxi over anyone from Ruiso Kingdom, as picking them up on the way won’t be too big of a problem. Even picking up people from Bella Kingdom won’t be a detour. The only one that really is would be Narra Kingdom, and still, me going to pick them up is by far the fastest way to travel. Supersonic space ships for the win.

And while I waited for the guild masters to contact their S-rank adventurers, I did what I do when I’m slightly stressed and I just want something fun to do. I opened some packs.

Some Light of Destruction to be specific. It is my newest set and the one I’m missing the most cards from. Sure I could dig Phantom Darkness for a Yubel, but I’ll do that later.

So 10 packs of Light of Destruction coming up.

Spoiler

Don’t know who designed Batteryman Micro-Cell, but it is surprisingly good for its time. A flip effect to summon a monster from the deck and you get a draw when it is destroyed by battle. For 2008, that is not bad.

Except "Frog the Jam" Forcefield on the other hand is just a worse Mirror Force. But I suppose Mirror Force was limited at the time, so I can somewhat forgive it.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Okay. Limit Reverse is just Call of the Haunted but worse. … but it does actually go well with Yubel, so it is good in that deck. You can just activate Limit Reverse during your opponent's battle phase, they either attack the Yubel or end their turn, then during your turn you put Yubel into defense mode, Limit Reverse destroys Yubel and Yubel’s effect summons Yubel - Terror Incarnate.

… What? I like Yubel, okay? It is a really interesting card, even if it isn’t all that good, so I do know some of the ‘secret’ tech cards for a Yubel deck.

Destruction Jammer is okay. I think I have cards that do the same with no discard cost, but that doesn’t make Destruction Jammer bad.

And Phantom Dragon is … I guess it isn’t terrible, but I wouldn’t call it good. It does special summon itself, but it doesn’t have high enough stats. Especially considering the ‘2 of your Monster Card Zones cannot be used.’ part of the effect.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Repeats here. Next.

Spoiler

Again, nothing new. Next.

Spoiler

Oh? Lyla, huh. One of the better Lightsworns for the TCG. Free Spell/Trap destruction is always nice. And I also really like her dress. I wonder if Lua would be willing to have a Saint dress similar to it.

Next pack.

Spoiler

All repeats, but I honestly don’t mind another Gragonith.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Garoth is a new Lightsworn and he is … okay. A bit too much milling for my taste, but he isn’t bad.

Hero Blast is also new, but it only works with Normal Monster E-Heroes, so it isn’t all that good. I guess you could resurrect Neos with it and destroy anything with less than 2500 attack, that is a decent use for it.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Wait! Wait! Wait! Owner’s Seal is in this set? How didn’t I realize that!? I need like … seventy copies of that card, and I needed them yesterday. With it, I can finally make equipment that can only be wielded by a single person, with no worries about it getting stolen. That is so good.

… I guess Helios Trice Megistus is also there, but I can’t summon it without Helios Duo Megistus, so for now, it is useless for me.

Next pack.

Spoiler

Another super rare? Nice. Sadly DUCKER isn’t good, but it is a super rare.

Light Barrier though. Now that is the Good stuff. Sure it is basically just training wheels for one of the worst archetypes ever, but it is still a great field spell. No matter how awful the rest of the Arcana Force cards are.

Last pack, let’s go!

Spoiler

… And we are going out with a whimper. All repeats. At least you could have given me a repeat of Owner’s Seal, not Ribbon. But whatever. I still got 2 ultra rares and 2 super rares from 10 packs. That is great luck.

Now just to visit the Factory so that I can have like 50 copies of Different Dimension Capsule getting me Owner’s Seals.
