CH.382 Preparing for TinaWood Challenge Rooms

CH.382 Preparing for TinaWood Challenge Rooms

With HomeBase still moving towards Alewatch, and my goal being the TinaWood dungeon’s challenge rooms, I kept powering up anyone that wanted to fight. I didn’t have many employees that said no, but a few did.

For one, Olia said she wouldn’t fight. That wasn’t overly surprising and I’ll accept that. The other one that didn’t want to fight was the more surprising part. Karl said he wouldn’t partake in fights. Again fine, but I just thought he would. But he said he is happy just working in the workshop, and I won’t force him to fight. I’ll still probably give him some Level Ups to his crafting skills.

Maya was also a bit hesitant, as she has never really fought before, but she was willing to try. And she has been practicing a bit. I’ll add her to the Level Up roster, so soon she will be powerful enough.

The first one in for a Level Up and install today is Cailie. She wasn’t getting an install today, mainly because she wanted to focus on the skills she already has, so I just leveled her up.

Spoiler

“... I’m sorry.” Cailie said after the level up.

“What for? I don’t think you have anything to apologize for.”

“... But you couldn’t have me sing in front of the guests because I got stage fright. Wasn’t it awkward for you?”

“Cailie.” I said her name with as much care as I could. “I don’t think anyone even noticed something like that. They experienced so much that missing a song isn’t what they will remember.”

“But … but you even made a stage for me and everything.”

“Don’t worry. It’s fine. There will be other parties, and eventually, I hope you will be willing to sing in front of a large audience again. But even if you don’t, that is fine.”

“... thanks.” Cailie said. “I’ll go to the CropFields.”

“Take your time.” I told her.

After Cailie, it was Unika and Valoa’s turn. The two of them also got installs, Valoa getting Molten Destruction so he would get access to Fire Magic, while Unika got the Spell Shattering Arrow for the Spell Destroying Shot skill.

Spoiler

Unika really has all the ‘Shot’ skills. I do wonder why she evolved into a Tamer instead of an Archer. And can she evolve into some sort of ‘Archer - Tamer -  Flame Fox-kin’. And if she can, how soon will that happen? At LV.60? Or at 70?

Should I test out if I can force an evolution with the combo of Level Down and Level Up with her?

Spoiler

I mean, it is just a theory, but in theory, every time she goes over an even 10 level, she should have a chance to trigger an evolution. And Unika more than fulfills the conditions to evolve into an Archer race class. I had Laura check and the only thing you need for that race class is Bow Technique of 4 or higher and one ‘Shot’ skill with a level of 2 or higher.

I’ll ask Unika about it the next time I level her up.

Oh and in case you were wondering why Valoa’s overall level has only increased by 2, while he has gotten 3 skill level ups, that is because I chose to do it that way. At low levels, skills are more important than overall level. And since the number of skills seems to be related to when/how you evolve, building up a good base of skills might be better than focusing on overall level.

… that might also explain why I evolved so late. I really lack regular skills.

After Unika and Valoa, their mother visited. She still didn’t want to show her status in front of her children, and I still don’t hold it against her.

Spoiler

I did also offer Olia an install, either Harpie’s Feather Duster or Mystical Moon, but she refused. And in case you were wondering, Mystical Moon turns into a racial skill that boosts all stats when you are under moonlight and Harpie’s Feather Duster turns into an extra skill called Cleaning Magic. Cleaning Magic is pretty versatile, but basically useless in combat, so I’ve never really bothered giving it to a combatant. But since Olia is quickly working her way towards the role of the head maid of HomeBase, she could use a skill like that.

But she refused the skills.

Spoiler

And by the way, since I know you will ask, Sheou is the current head maid. And no, Olia will not take her position, more like be the second head maid. Something like Sheou being in charge of my monsters while Olia manages the others.

Spoiler

After Olia came Cina and Molly.

Spoiler

Both of them got their second install, this time in the form of Rush Recklessly which turned into the Reckless Rush racial skill. It basically makes them gain strength based on how fast they are moving, so if they rush at an opponent at high speeds, they will hit very hard. But it can be a bit dangerous, so I’m thankful that I made them take the Defense Boost skill last time.

Spoiler

Next up and coming is Wilma.

Spoiler

Wilma got herself an install of The Reliable Guardian. It is such a safe choice, as Defense Boost is just a generally good skill. She does also have a somewhat ‘tanky’ build, so having more defense is great for her.

Spoiler

Also, as you can see, the level ups she has been getting between last time and now have been focused on crafting, enchanting and the Block skill she got from her last install. But she does have a bit of a problem with her Mana Control being lower in level than Enchanting, so we will likely focus on getting that Mana Control level up next.

After Wilma was Karl. He was in the ‘level up services’ for the first time, so I quickly explained everything to him, and then leveled him up. Sure he won’t be a part of our combat force, but I do need my smiths at their best.

Spoiler

And oh boy is Karl strong. I mean, he has almost 1300 Strength. That is a ton. That is more than what Wilma has, and Wilma is LV.76 and she has evolved.

He also has two titles, and they are … just alright. Miner makes him get more EXP when he mines while Blacksmith does the same but for Blacksmithing. Both great titles, but nothing that special.

Karl also has two magic skills, Fire and Earth Magics. That would honestly be great, if he was willing to be a fighter. But Karl doesn’t want that, and he himself admits that he is bad with Mana Control and memorizing spell chants, so he rarely uses magic.

But as if all of that wasn’t enough, he has Fire and Earth Resistances, as well as Defense Boost. All great general skills. But as I said earlier, I won’t force him to do something he doesn’t want to, so I’ll just level up his Blacksmithing and overall level and call it a day. I would have leveled up Crafting, but Karl prefers Blacksmithing, as he can leave the Crafting part for Wilma. And since Wilma evolved into a Craftswoman, maybe Karl can evolve into a Blacksmith. Then I’d have both a Crafter and a Smith.

Spoiler

Oh and I didn’t offer him an install, as I need to have Laura check what might be good for him. But honestly, with all the skills Karl already has, he is pretty strong already. And no, that isn’t just another pun on his Strength being over 1000.

The last one on today’s level up block is Maya. Like Karl, it is her first time, but unlike Karl, she was willing to at least try to be a combatant, so that is where we are aiming with her.

Spoiler

Maya is interesting in the fact that she has a different racial skill from Einar and Eline. The two of them of course had Night Vision, which evolved into Night Stalking, but Maya has Rending Claws. It just allows her to make these mana blade claws to … well, rend her opponents. Quite the powerful skill, but I’m not sure it is as good as Night Stalking. Then again, Night Stalking is an evolved racial skill, so it isn’t a fair comparison.

I’ll just level up Maya’s Unarmed Combat Technique, as well as her overall level and call it a day.

Spoiler

Coming that evening, HomeBase began to approach Alewatch. I stopped us some ways away, just in case someone actually spotted us. I didn’t want to cause a UFO threat at night.

We’ll get to the town tomorrow, and go from there. I wonder how the people have been since the behemoth? I know Alice has visited a few times and she says things have been fine, but I do want to see for myself.
