Chapter 53 Revenge
The corridor was soon filled with hurried and chaotic footsteps.
Faint human voices were also audible.
"Damn, finally made it in!"
"Everyone okay?"
"Heh, don't worry boss!"
"With shields in hand, those zombies couldn't even scratch us!"
The voices grew closer, and soon a rotund figure who nearly burst out of his shirt—looking like a tin can—strolled out from the corridor.
He was the big shot of Sanjiang Technical College.
Fat Cat.
"Yo, everyone's asleep?"
"Living the good life, huh? Even got cigarettes to smoke."
As he entered, he saw Wang Hu and the others cramped into the room on the right; he glanced at the cigarette butts on the floor, and a broad smile bloomed under his helmet.
Damn, finally got these guys cornered.
"None of you are leaving today."
Fat Cat's tone turned cold.
A dozen more figures immediately rushed out from behind him in the corridor.
A few of them tried to position their shields at the front but were promptly slapped on the side of their helmets by him, dislodging them.
"Are you blind?"
"Can't you see the size of this place?"
"Do we really need shields for this few people?"
The one who got hit didn't move, but his companions began frantically clamping the shields onto their backs.
Wang Hu just silently watched, not uttering a word.
He seemed resigned to his fate.
After Fat Cat finished scolding his underling, he turned back to the room, where Wang Hu and his group were now sitting ducks, and grinned mischievously.
"Why so silent all of a sudden?"
"Weren't you quite the tough guy before, calling everyone 'little fucks'?"
"Dared to steal from Fat Cat, and now you think staying silent and acting weak will spare you?"
After he spoke, his underlings burst into unruly laughter, arrogance oozing from their stance.
The grudge between the two sides had started just a few days earlier.
Wang Hu had taken his men out for supplies and ran into a few students from the nearby technical school, which led to a conflict.
Fat Cat, being outnumbered at the time, beat a hasty retreat.
But he came back before long.
This guy might look honest, but he was actually quite sly.
He first brought over a dozen men to lull Wang Hu into complacency, then pretended to flee, luring Wang Hu and his pursuers into a house where an ambush awaited them.
Two workers were beaten to death by the gang in the ensuing melee.
Later, the chase continued all the way to the construction site.
The horde of zombies scared Fat Cat off.
But the guy somehow managed to come into good luck.
The next day, he snuck back in with over a dozen thugs in riot gear.
If it weren't for one of them panicking and abandoning his shield to run, the unfinished building might have fallen that day.
But Fat Cat, with a strong desire for revenge, simply made a habit of treating this place as a training ground.
He brought people over every now and then to assault the building.
Today, he finally succeeded.
Fat Cat was feeling smug, but Wang Hu suddenly cracked a smile.
"Heh."
"You're right."
"Indeed, not one of us can leave."
No sooner had he finished speaking than two figures burst out from another room in the corridor, grabbing hold of a thug who had been about to take a look inside.
Without a shield to block them, the zombies that lunged face-first bit directly into his neck.
The scent of fresh blood instantly spread throughout the corridor.
"Argh!"
Low growls began to rise from every corner.
Numerous figures emerged like wild grass sprouting from the ground through the rooms.
The relaxed thugs hadn't expected dozens of zombies, each donning a helmet, to be hiding in the rooms next to them, which greatly reduced the effectiveness of their weapons.
By the time Fat Cat reacted, the corridor was already filled with cries of agony.
"Fuck!"
"You tricked me!"
His eyes instantly turned red.
Fury made his already obese body seem even larger.
Fat Cat's gear was the most complete, from the riot baton used as a weapon to the bomb suit and the riot helmet he wore.
Bang! Bang!
The two charging zombies were instantly knocked down by him!
The gaping mouth that aimed for his arm almost had its skull smashed in by a stick he raised!
In the blink of an eye.
The fatty had already turned around and rushed to the stairway entrance.
"Quick!"
"Don't let him get away!"
Wang Hu, who stayed in the room as bait, saw this and quickly charged out with a shovel, toppling a little thug trying to escape with two swift strikes.
Du Chao and the others behind him hurriedly picked up their weapons and followed suit.
This was a rare opportunity to shine!
They had to seize it!
But just as they reached the stairway entrance, they saw Fat Cat, who had half his body already squeezed through, suddenly tremble all over.
Crackling—
In the dimness, there was actually the flash of electricity.
Two figures who had come up from the staircase were already hugging his body tightly.
The intense electric shock penetrated the protection, causing Fat Cat's body to convulse continuously until he finally collapsed on the ground with his legs going soft.
Wang Hu's heart pounded as he watched the two figures with painted smiles on their faces.
Zombies using stun batons?
No matter!
First, deal with Fat Cat!
Without another word, he lifted the shovel in his hands and viciously chopped it down on Fat Cat's neck!
The sharp edge of the shovel slid right into the neck!
"Gurgle gurgle..."
Blood flowed from the wound.
Fat Cat's eyes widened with an expression of disbelief.
He desperately slapped at the shovel on his neck, but the closely following Du Chao swung his shovel down again!
By the time Zhang Ye arrived with Ai Bing from above, Fat Cat's head was only held to his neck by a flap of skin.
"Wang Hu."
"You're quite ruthless with your blows."
Zhang Ye remarked as he surveyed the body on the ground.
Wang Hu, who was behind him, glanced at the gathering zombies in the hallway and quickly bent over to say,
"Hehe, didn't we have a grudge before?"
"Got a little carried away."
Zhang Ye nodded without saying much more, and stood up to walk over to the captives.
They were a few youths who looked to be under twenty years old.
At that moment, all had faces full of fear.
"The gear you're wearing, where did you find it?"
He asked gently.
The terrified young thugs glanced at Tian Gou and the others and immediately began telling, one by one, the location and process by which Fat Cat had obtained this equipment.
"Just these ten or so suits?"
"That's all of them?"
Zhang Ye asked again, not content with the response.
Seeing them nod, he finally stood up with an expression of disappointment and said,
"Wang Hu."
"The people are up to you."
"Remember to strip off the gear when you're done."
As soon as he finished speaking, the workers were already looking sinisterly at the seven or eight captives in the corner. Without waiting for Wang Hu's signal, they were already pushing and shoving each other to get at them.
These seemingly green and tender youngsters were not seen as children in their eyes.
But as living demons.
The continuous harassment over several days had driven them to the brink of collapse.
Now that they saw an opportunity for revenge, how could they possibly be soft-hearted because of their age?
Screams instantly filled the hallway.
Zhang Ye didn't look further but turned his head to look at the woman beside him.
Ai Bing's face was pale, her gaze fixed on the tragedy unfolding on the other side, her expression extremely complex.
But in the end, she slowly became more indifferent.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Let's go, Zhang Ye."
"We still haven't checked the construction materials yet."
"If we're going to repair the wall, we'll need more than just a construction team."
She suddenly turned her head to look at Zhang Ye, her complexion restored to normal.
