Chapter 116 Tarzan Mode
As Jake sorted out his stats, Myriad Arrows was taking care of the loot that was on the ground.
Once everything was taken care of, Jake looked back up.
"Alright. With this, we know that we are not exactly in the bottom of the food chain. But that doesn't mean that we can just act like we own the place. If we aren't at the bottom, then we are maybe a tier above that. Let us try hunting a few more of these and try leveling up. That should help us out." Jake said.
"First, we need to do a clear canvas of the place, should we not? We need to know what we have around here. I am not sure we have a good idea of what this place is." Myriad Arrows said.
"You… are right. I was too hasty. We need to take a good sweep of this place." Jake nodded.
The both of them looked up at the trees.
"Maybe we should us the trees for transport? I think the ground is way too dangerous." Myriad Arrows suggested.
"You read my mind. It is way too dangerous on the ground, with a lot of dinosaurs probably roaming around. I just hope that none of the bigger dinosaurs will be able to see us in these thick trees." Jake nodded.
They climbed the trees, both of their weapons in their inventory, and started barely crossing trees, sometimes jumping to the nearest branch, and sometimes using high hanging vines to swing from tree to tree.
They had embraced the Tarzan within them, but that was much safer than traveling by foot. And they saw the fruits of their hard work in just a few minutes.
Just as Myriad Arrows was about to swing to another tree, Jake held his sleeve and tugged him back, putting his index finger on his mouth, shushing him.
Then, he slowly pointed to the ground.
On the ground, there were ten dinosaurs. Small, agile, raptors. They were a little shorter than humans, but at this many numbers, they were a deadly force that Jake did not dare mess with.
If they wanted to fell one tree, they could do that with ease.
And he wasn't willing to go to a fight at this moment. If he descended against all those raptors, he would be ripped apart to shreds in moments and would definitely lose one or two items that he couldn't afford to just throw away.
Myriad Arrows nodded understanding what was happening.
Without saying anything, the duo looked down and tried to see what was happening. The raptors stopped exactly below them, and looked around them.
They knew that something was here, something tasty. But they just couldn't find it.
One of them even looked up, and Jake's heart skipped a beat.
But then, the raptor looked back down, and didn't do anything. The trees were way too thick for the raptor to see anything.
After a few moments, the raptors just left, unable to find anything. Even beasts like these only had so much patience.
Once they were gone, Jake heaved a sigh of relief.
"Thank god they are gone. Well then, let us get going. We know that there are raptors here now, but we have to see which places we definitely have to avoid. There have to be a few zones were the big monsters have their nests." Jake said.
"Are we sure that dinosaurs are the only monsters in here? It could be a collection of all the monsters that used to exist in the jurassic era?" Myriad Arrows postulated.
"That would be something interesting to see, don't you think?" Jake smiled.
They continued moving through the trees. It wa a slow and arduous process, as walking would definitely be much easier. They had to move slowly, careful not to make too much sound, and they had to try not to fall down on every jump.
"If only World Online was like a normal game, we would be able to cruise through these trees with such ease. They just had to make things so realistic." Myriad Arrows cursed as he scratched his hands landing on a branch.
Sure, the cut healed itself in a few instants, as any normal game wound would. The higher the level, the faster the healing for any player.
They continued jumping through the trees, until they stopped.
And this time, it wasn't because there was a monster that was about to spot them. This time, it was because they were running out of trees.
"I didn't see this spot of barrenness when I looked at the entire canvas from high up. Looks like the rendering of the scene was a little inaccurate when we first viewed it." Myriad Arrows said.
"We should go higher and try to take a closer look at here every thing is. In hindsight, we should have moved toward the long neck dinosaurs. They are supposed to be vegetarian right? I hope that they are. If we go toward them, then even if there are strong monsters around us, they will target these big monsters instead of us." Jake suggested.
"We can let another monster get the aggro? That is interesting. If we can successfully pull that off, then as long as we find and note down exactly every single strong monster, every time we find a huge predator that we cannot handle, we lead them to the giant monster that is also a predator!" Myriad Arrows said.
"We should try it first. I am not sure if we can actually do it." Jake said.
But he knew that he could. It was supposed to work. But no one actually tried it this early into the game. He wanted to try it once with a smaller monster and see if he could do it. And if that worked, then he would definitely put all of his remaining stats in agility so that he could try this out.
