Chapter 102 Michael Meets His Master
Rumble
Before John could even react, the bookshelves behind him started to move.
"Wow! A secret door! At that level!" Michael said with shock.
"Be silent. You shouldn't say these things out loud." Jake smiled, but his words were in no way harsh. This was just an older brother making sure that his younger one wouldn't be frowned upon in the public later on.
"Right." Michael nodded as he stayed close to Jake. The duo walked toward the opening of the bookshelves, while John was just struck shocked.
Jake walked into the giant secret hall number one, and Michael's mouth was agape looking at the hidden real estate that no one outside knew existed.
"How did they hide so much place? This is so crazy!" Michael said with shock and curiosity.
"Ah! So this is the person that you want me to mentor for a while, is it, Shadow King?" Nolan's voice came from the side of the entrance that they just walked through.
Jake looked at the old man, who had a cane this time, and was looking at him, or rather, at Michael, with interest.
"That is right. A bright child and I am sure that you would rather have someone like this by your side and at the helm because he is my brother. I will not hesitate to help him out when the time comes after all." Jake said.
"Now then, when you said that you would bring me a promising disciple, I thought that you had a bright friend in mind. I didn't think that you would bring your brother here." Nolan had a faint smile on his face.
"Well, isn't this only fair. I have my brother at your place, and Myriad Arrows stays next to me. It will be quite the alliance that will be forged between us." Jake smiled.
"Ah! And the rules that we have discussed will be implemented to perfection. That is my guarantee." Nolan nodded.
"This is my baby brother, Chairman. If anything happens to him, even though this is a game, I will not forgive you." For a second there, Jake's face became the face of the lord of hell, before it returned back to normal.
"It will be his absolute honor to be learning from a legend like you. I can only hope that he will learn to use his instincts as you do." Jake said, changing the tone in an instant.
"Haha!" Nolan nervously laughed. When it came to protectiveness, it was clear that Jake wouldn't let anything happen to Michael.
The pain of losing him once was enough for Jake. He would not let anything happen to Michael again.
"Can we have a talk in private though, Shadow King? I wanted to discuss a little thing about the deal we had." Nolan said, glancing at Michael for a second.
"Sure," Jake nodded and then bent down to Michael.
"Look around. This is where you will be for a while. If you do not like it, then tell me immediately, and I will take you back to school. But if you do like it, then this will be a great place for you to stay." He said.
Then, getting back up, he walked toward Nolan alone, as Nolan ushered him to a corner of this giant hall.
Once they were clear of anyone else, Nolan looked at Jake with a weird face.
"You want me to mentor your little brother? Do you understand how stupid this seems?" Nolan said, his voice getting hoarser by the minute.
"I have little time left. That was why I was willing to let the future of the guild rest in the hands of a foreigner. And now, you are telling me that you want your brother, what? A kid so young? What is the point?" He asked.
"I understand your anger, Chairman. But there is a method to this madness." Jake tried to calm the chairman down.
"I understand that you are low on time, but what you do not understand is that I am not asking you to make Michael the guild master once you are gone. In fact, I would want nothing more than for you to stay here forever."
"But as we all know, humans cannot live forever. And that is why, I am asking you to give me a favor and pass on your invaluable knowledge to my brother, just as I pass on mine to your grandson. It will be a win-win situation." Jake said.
"I should have never revealed the fact that Kyle was my grandson to you. To think that you would leverage it in such a way," Nolan jokingly said.
"Well then, you want me to teach my ways to your brother. What do I call him again?" He expectantly looked at Jake.
"Nine Star Celestial Phoenix," Jake said.
It was a long name, longer than what Jake wanted. But unfortunately, he didn't have override functions on Michael's screen, and this was the name that he chose, as childish and long as it was.
"So you insist on keeping your identities private once more." Nolan sighed.
"This is only for our safety. As you have long suspected, we are not like you. We do not have the deep pockets that we do, so we cannot just reveal our identities on a whim." Jake said.
"Fine. I will teach your brother, Nine Star- this is too long. I will just call him Star, for now, it will be easier. And in return, whenever the guild needs Bright Horizon, it will help us out. And that includes priority of the expeditions. We want to be above everyone else in this alliance of yours." Nolan said.
"That was already set in stone. The moment that you agreed to take in a disciple I will suggest you." Jake smiled.
"Fine. I will take over this boy now. I don't even know what to do, teaching him. How do I teach him of my ways?" Nolan shook his head.
"Just let him go through your everyday stuff, and in the middle, throw him a few scraps and let him increase his level. He is still in level one after all." Jake said, chuckling.
"Ah! So an over-glorified assistant that I just can't overwork. That is much better." Nolan chuckled.
