Chapter 3: I Wonder How Much It is Worth
Going back ten minutes in the past, Linfel noticed that the waves of magical energy from that generator were not very pleasing. They were indeed feeble and constant, but perhaps because the lowest grade of Magic Stones was being used, it didn't attract the Tunas very much.
Linfel, now familiar with this Magical Energy, could feel the presence of this energy in the environment and the sea, although the concentration was many times lower than within the Magic Stones. When he compared the waves created by the generator and the energy within the sea, Linfel had an idea.
"All I need to do is to recreate the same feeling for the Whiskers Tunas in the area so they think a natural source of Magical Energy is near this boat. The generator isn't bad, but I can do it much better," Linfel told Lucau. "Watch!"
Linfel took a few of the Magic Stones that were fuelling the equipment and absorbed their energy. He couldn't use it all since he was very weak, but he could redirect their energy as soon as it passed through his core. Why? Because he could eliminate a good part of the impurities, making it a lot better for use.
The only problem was that due to the quantity of impurities, not even 10% of the energy of the stones remained. In fact, if Linfel removed the impurities completely, perhaps not even 1% would be left behind. They were that bad.
Regardless, he used the now much cleaner energy from the stones and sent it into the water, dissipating it in the surroundings. Linfel was indeed a quite young wisp, not very experienced, especially with this new Magical Energy. He wasn't able to control his emanated Magical Energy past five meters.
Still, the Magical Energy itself began to disperse in the surroundings on its own. The result?
*glush, glush, glush, glush...*
Out of nowhere, hundreds of Tunas from nearby rushed to the boat with everything they had! The boat even felt a little unstable due to the underwater movement. It was obvious that the Magical Energy created by Linfel was so much better than the Magical Energy from the boat or the Equipment that the Tunas went crazy!
"Holy shit!" Lucau's eyes lit up, seeing that huge amount of Tuna. The nets attached to the boat, which were made of a special material from this world to be able to hold the tunas, were being filled with them nonstop. "Hahaha! This is great!"
Lucau quickly went to work, pulling the nets back into the ship and releasing the tuna inside the boat's container keel. In a few minutes he got more Whiskers Tunas than he would have acquired in several days out in the sea. Soon, he noticed that the container would be filled, so he turned to Linfel. "Little friend, that's enough. We've got everything we need."
Linfel looked at him, puzzled. "But the big fish has just arrived..."
"Big... fish?" Lucau got puzzled for a moment.
*Bang!*
The boat suddenly got a huge impact from the boat's hull, which immediately sent it halfway out of the water! If Lucau hadn't held on to something, he would have fallen in the water already. It was then that he noticed a sea beast jumping off the water for a moment before diving right back in. "What the hell?! It's a White Stripped Demon Orca!!!"
Linfel was still floating in the air, so he didn't seem to mind the impact that much. "Oh! That's really a big fish. Quick, quick, cast the net!"
Lucau was speechless. That Orca was almost as big as the boat itself! Not only that... he now saw several of them coming for the boat! "Cast the net YOUR ASS! Stop it now!"
"But... aren't they a lot more valuable?" Linfel got puzzled.
"Sure... they are more valuable... if you are fucking alive to sell them, idiot! Just stop attracting them!" Lucau was already feeling desperate.
Linfel could only do as asked and let go of his task. Too bad, though. The energy he released in the water was still there, and it would stay for a few minutes.
*bang, bang, bang...*
The boat was thrown right and left, but the boat was indeed built to navigate through these waters, so it was very resistant. As the boat went everywhere, Linfel took the chance to ask. "By the way, I feel some Magic Energy in these Whatever Orcas you mentioned. Are they different?"
Lucau wanted to cry already. It was as if Linfel couldn't even tell the situation they were in. Fortunately, the Orcas eventually began to leave the boat's range. "They are Level One Magical Beasts! They are definitely different!"
Lucau tried to get up, feeling his legs giving away. Seems like the worst part was finally over. "My boat has a Magical Dissonance Device that usually keeps those Magical Beasts far away since it bothers them. Whatever you did must have been incredibly enticing for them to ignore it and come for my boat. Fortunately, the energy you released in the water seemed to have dissipated.
The Orcas are finally going away, so the dissonance must be working."
"Dissipated?" Linfel shook his head. "That's not it."
*Shua!*
Suddenly, a giant mouth, capable of engulfing the entire vessel, came from the bottom of the boat. Lucau only had the chance to see the teeth of the creature closing on both sides of the boat while Linfel finished his words. "They were just scared of this guy. Now, this is a big fish! I wonder how much it is worth."
*Crash!*
With a single bite, the boat was completely destroyed. Lucau thought for a moment he was dead, but he saw himself floating in the air a few meters above where the Magical Beast had just swallowed his boat. Linfel acted in the last second and pulled both of them away.
"So scary..." With the source of the Magical Energy gone, that enormous Magical Beast turned in their direction, its eyes glowing.
Linfel noticed Lucau's pale face while the Magic Beast was right in front of them. "Errr... See? This is how you attract fish."
