Chapter 870: I Have Buffs Too
It took me quite a long time to gather up all the loot from the monsters we killed.
Unfortunately most of them could not be used since they were smashed into meat paste but at least the Mana Crystals remained intact in those cases, though we had to dig them out from the meat paste itself to get those.
Thankfully, I wasn't the one that had to dig through them to get the Mana Crystals and my Shadow Guards were more than happy to help me get them before I cleaned them up afterwards.
Once that was done, I moved towards the stairs that led upwards and tried to leave, only to see a line of words appearing beside the wall.
'Just one more floor~ Your reward is down there too~ Love you~'
Bleh… Fine…
I turned towards the other set of stairs and stepped towards it before peeking at Lisa and my other Shadow Guards.
"You girls ready?"
My Shadow Guards nodded while Lisa immediately jumped on my back and giggled, "Ehehehe~ I'm ready now!"
I didn't argue with her and merely adjusted myself to accommodate the new weight on my back to make sure she was secure before I descended the stairs with the rest of my Shadow Guards in the same formation as before.
When we reached the bottom of the stairs, I realised that this floor was a boss floor and I wondered if the boss here was just a standard floor boss or the Dungeon boss itself.
Peeking through the doors, I found a suit of armour standing at the very centre of the room with a spear in its right hand and a tower shield on its left.
The suit of armour itself was at least two and a half metres or at least eight foot tall and the spear was twice its height.
I guessed that the armour was the boss and used [Screened] on it.
[Name: Living Armour Legion
Race: Monster
Stats:
250 Strength
120 Dexterity
250 Endurance
50 Magic
Unique Skill:
I Am Legion]
Hmm… Well, considering how this Dungeon has been working so far… I'm going to make a guess that the unique skill it had probably would summon even more followers or something and we'll have to fight them all.
Well, nothing new I suppose, since this wouldn't be the first boss monster I had to fight where they could summon more followers during the fight.
The Dungeon Minotaur Warband Leader being one of them of course.
Looking behind the Living Armour, I realised there was another set of stairs behind it so that meant this was not the Dungeon boss and merely just a floor boss.
I unsheathed my swords from the start and did a final check on all of us before stepping past the doorway to enter the boss room.
The fog wall appeared and the Living Armour Legion stirred from its position.
It took a step back and hefted its spear to point it towards us while lifting its shield to slam it down in front of it.
The ground shook before the area in front of it glowed, causing even more suits of armour with spears and shields to appear in front of it to form an entire legion of them.
Thankfully, the ones that got summoned were normal human sized ones so we weren't dealing with an entire army of giant spearmen.
There were six columns of them and five ranks deep, numbering thirty summons in total with the boss remaining behind the lines and hiding behind its shield.
I used [Screened] on the smaller one just to see if there was a difference in stats.
[Name: Living Armour
Race: Monster
Stats:
100 Strength
50 Dexterity
50 Endurance
10 Magic]
Ok, it's not a direct copy of the boss at least.
Just as a test, I tried to shoot a [Laser] at the boss to see if I could just kill it but the shield seemed to emit some kind of invisible barrier as my [Laser] hit something invisible in front of the boss and got deflected up towards the ceiling.
It seems like all of their shields have some kind of magic barrier because when I tried to shoot at the smaller Living Armour, they also had the same invisible barrier that protected them from my magic.
At least… I believe it was their shields that were emitting that barrier. Could just be their passive skill or something, I dunno.
Guess we'll have to do this the hard way.
A quick mental command from me prompted my Shadow Guards to charge towards the legion of Living Armour standing between us and the boss.
Eins led the charge with her shield raised while Vier and Drei flanked her left and right respectively.
Following behind them were Lisa and myself while Zwei and Funf remained behind to provide us support.
As we got closer, the Living Armour at the front ranks pulled back their spears before thrusting forward suddenly.
I was thinking that it was weird that they were doing that since we were still out of range of their spears when their spears suddenly extended and shot towards us without warning.
Eins immediately jumped in front of me with her shield raised to block the spear that was aimed at my head.
Unexpectedly, the blow was stronger than we thought and she was sent flying back to crash into me and caused us to skid back a few metres.
Drei managed to dodge underneath the spear thrust but Vier was slowed down by her halberd and ended up getting stabbed in her side by one of the spears and got flung back to our backline, narrowly missing Zwei when she flew past.
That was odd… Even if Eins had been taken by surprise from the spear extending, the blow should not have been strong enough to push her back… Not to mention Vier being flung back like that…
Eins quickly recovered and stood protectively in front of me with her shield raised as the Living Armour pulled back their spears once more.
Lisa materialised her light armour over us right as the Living Armour column thrust their spears forward once more.
This time, Eins was buffed by Funf with [Strength] to prepare for the inevitable strike from the spears.
I thought that would be enough for her to hold her ground but even with that buff, Eins still ended up sliding back a good metre from the blow.
Drei could not avoid the attack aimed at her and ended up having two spears penetrating her abdomen and chest.
Despite the wound, she did not show any signs of pain and looked more annoyed that she was hit instead.
She fell to the ground as the Living Armour pulled back their spears and I decided to retreat back with Lisa and Eins instead of continuing our charge.
The Living Armour did not try to chase us and simply remained where they were, their spears still braced to thrust again if we got back into their range.
I had to recall Drei back into my shadow to heal her before letting her materialise again.
"How are their blows that strong?" I wondered aloud.
"Master… I believe their stats are stacked on top of each other's thanks to the floor boss's Unique Skill," Eins suggested.
Oh.
That means… All the Living Armour in that legion basically had their stats amplified so their real stats was whatever I saw from earlier multiplied by thirty before adding the boss's stats on top of it…
No wait… That can't be right…
If that was the case, their strength would be well over three thousand and that would have been enough to send us flying all the way back to the entrance of the boss room instead of just causing us to skid back a few metres…
Hmm… Six columns and five ranks deep… If the front is only receiving the strength of the four Living Armours behind it and the boss itself, that would bring their strength to seven hundred and fifty… Yeah, that makes more sense.
Well, guess what? I can play that game too.
With that thought, my Shadow Guards rearranged themselves to my sides with Eins, Zwei and Drei to my right and Vier and Funf to my left.
All of them switched their weapons to equip themselves with a sword and shield and lowered themselves into a combat stance alongside me.
I then called up even more of my Shadow Guards behind me, arranging four of them behind each of us.
We then started advancing towards the spear wall without fear, looking like we were merely out for a stroll instead of marching towards a legion of enemies.
Just as we reached the edge of their range, all of us were buffed by our own group of four Shadow Guards with [Strength] while also adding our own buffs on top of it.
The first ranks of Living Armour thrusted their spears again and I dug in my heels in preparation for the impact.
The spear hit my chest with a loud 'clang' and… It did not even move me a single inch.
Alright, time to die you bastards.
