Chapter 80 - Sweet Talking Thy Shou
Ji Yao swam to the bottom of the pool seeking out the broken antler he saw the last time. It didn't take him long to spot it and this time he was met with no resistance because of his awakened Qilin side.
He was going to use it to find her and when he does he would take back his father. He grabbed it but just as he turned to swim back to the surface he noticed that smartass cavefish gawking at him inside a crevice.
Ji Yao sneered and fired at the roof of the crevice before capturing the cavefish as well. Ji Yao didn't even spare Nemo too. That fish was coming with him besides who knows how many secrets it's hiding.
Cavefish, "..."
'Here I was minding my own business buying soya sauce only to be captured for no apparent reason,' thought the cavefish inside Ji Yao's closed palm. It seemed minding one's own business wasn't enough to keep it outside the line of fire.
Ji Yao got out of the water and searched around in his storage ring for a bottle or something. Lucky for the cavefish he had a bottle of elixir in storage. He poured it out not caring what type of elixir it was.
He filled it up with water and the cavefish in his hand tried to escape. "You won't die, right? It's not like you are a regular fish," said Ji Yao with a sneer. He dropped the cavefish in the bottle before partially closing it. "Be good and I will get you a better fish tank," he reassured the livid cavefish.
This seemed to anger it some more because it began to kick the wall of the bottle with its tail trying to break the glass. 'Who wants to live in a fish tank when I have a freaking pool? What the hell is wrong with you?' it said to itself with a fierce kick at the glass.
"Don't bother. This glass is reinforced with minerals from Niuq so give it up," he said putting the glass bottle down. The fish stood on its tail and folded its fins like a human folding their arms across their chest in exasperation.
Ji Yao took out a silk cloth to wrap the broken antler inside but when he stared at it he halted his actions. It was the most beautiful thing he had seen with a mesmerizing pattern completely out of this world. He traced the lines with his fingers spellbound for a second. He wondered if he would have antlers as well and if they would be this beautiful.
He sighed as he brought himself back to earth. Ji Yao carefully wrapped the antler in the silk cloth before putting it away. He planned to find a box from his father's study and store the antler.
The moment he had taken that antler Qilin Hao never reappeared again as expected. To be honest, he felt a little upset. That's because his mother didn't take him too. Wasn't he also important to her or maybe he was just a package she dropped after carrying him in her womb for others to raise?
Ji Yao tsked as he stored away the protesting cavefish and antler. He had a lot of things to do as the load left in Ji Wen's absence was weighing over his shoulders.
He stepped out of the cave in large strides intending to go have a nice relaxing bath then tackle each problem one by one.
Just as he stepped foot outside his steps faltered when he saw Rui Fei who had been waiting for him outside the cave. His face was sickly pale but that didn't deal any damage to his handsomeness. He was casually leaning against a tree with his arms folded across his chest like a delinquent in high school.
Ji Yao's chest tightened as a wave of cold sweat swept past his back. His body's natural response spoke volumes. The fear was like an instinctual thing that couldn't be easily suppressed. Thinking he could just ignore him he walked past Rui Fei without saying a word despite having eye contact a second ago.
Rui Fei seemed to have read his movements as he lost the smile on his face. He blocked Ji Yao's path without a second thought and tried to persuade him to talk. He couldn't bear being ignored by Ji Yao.
Ji Yao could beat him and scold him as long as he didn't ignore him. Rui Fei knew he was in the wrong when he lied about who he was but if he didn't he would have lost the qualifications to be beside Ji Yao.
This meant he would have lost this precious opportunity. He had to convince Ji Yao that this lie was absolutely necessary that is if Ji Yao gave him a chance to explain himself.
"Yao-ge... le-let," he said but Ji Yao had already stepped aside expressing his desire not to talk but how could Rui Fei give up that easy? He blocked his path again but this time he stretched his hands out and mimicked Ji Yao's movements. If he goes to the right then Rui Fei would move to his left and if Ji Yao took a step to the left he would take a step to the right.
Flustered, Ji Yao stopped moving and glared at this childish person. He said, "Rui Fei get out of my way," in a commanding tone.
Being called by his full name in that tone made Rui Fei's heartache like he had been stabbed multiple times. He gulped nervous as hell but he stood his ground. "I just want you to hear me out," he mumbled feeling somewhat dispirited.
"I said get out of my way or else..." replied Ji Yao through gritted teeth. He was seriously considering kicking Rui Fei off the island at this moment.
Rui Fei raised his head as though asking, "or else what?" but he didn't dare say it out loud. He knew well enough not to ask questions he didn't want answers to.
Ji Yao managed to walk past Rui Fei while he was stuck in a stupor but he (Ji Yao) had barely taken a step when his arm was suddenly grasped and he was pulled into an embrace. Ji Yao's heart stopped when he was suddenly hugged from behind with Rui Fei's face buried in his neck.
"Hear me out just this once..... please," whispered Rui Fei hoping to sweet-talk his way out of this mess. Well, either of three things would result from his blatant action. One, he would probably get evicted from the island with immediate effect. Let's call this option A.
Or two, get his ass kicked till Ji Yao vents out all that pent up anger. Option B sounds brutal but at least he gets to stay, right?
Maybe the third option where he gets both an ass whopping plus an eviction. That would be option C.
Let me know what you all think.
