Chapter 126 - Generic Answers
That's when Ji Yao realised he might have been experimented on. He looked down at the half-empty bowl then at Old Du before saying, "Did you just use me as a guinea pig?"
But Old Du didn't answer that question in particular. He just stroked his beardless chin and said, "Huh, no effect? Interesting..... fuck!" That swearing at the end was because the bowl of concoction was thrown to the door causing a loud crashing sound. He ran out saying, "let me call Rui Fei!"
Okay, fine the old man didn't want to say anything but someone had to spill the beans. Anything other than poisons didn't interest Old Du, what more idle gossip? But as more and more crew members came in it seemed no one wanted to tell the truth as they answered, "I didn't do nothing, I didn't see anything and this speech is not being rehearsed."
Ji Yao almost rolled his eyes at the back of his head when he heard this generic response. He had to find the ring leaders.
While looking for the ring leaders someone he had no intention of interrogating showed up. She looked especially stunning in her white dress complimenting her gorgeous green beach wave hair hanging on her shoulders.
She looked especially tantalizing but Ji Yao was more concerned with what happened that night that he didn't even spare her a glance. Without raising his head he asked, "Do you know anything?" He could smell her perfume a mile away so he knew it was her.
Xiaoyu placed a tray down with jasmine tea and sat opposite him with a confused look on her face. She saw everyone getting into the cabin one by one and thought it would be her turn next but who would have thought after making herself look pretty she wasn't called.
Using the excuse to send him some tea she waltzed in only to find out this was an interrogation and she put herself in the suspect pool. She had no idea what Big Hei saw that night because no one dared to tell her. If you want to live then don't tell her, it's as simple as that.
Xiaoyu didn't know how to answer so she simply poured out some tea for him and asked, "About what?" watching him like a smitten puppy.
"About the last night in the imperial palace?" said Ji Yao finally looking up to her.
Being stared at she grinned foolishly as she replied, "No, why are you asking?"
Ji Yao sighed before replying, "Oh, thanks though," with a look of disappointment. That look on his face was so upsetting that she decided to do her own investigation but unfortunately for her, she got the same generic answer. I mean if the new pirate king got the same answer what more her. Their lips were sealed with super glue.
Ji Yao locked a target on Xunshi Zhe and Big Hei which was very difficult considering they were hiding from him.
After much difficulty, he found them and set them down. From their expressions, they were sweating bullets. Ji Yao didn't say anything. He was pacing around them with a cold stare. The longer the silence, the greater the tension in the atmosphere and the greater the tension the more cracks began to appear.
Ji Yao could see he was getting to them so he asked in a low voice as he stood behind them. The pressure on their backs was so intense that they felt cold sweat run down their backs. This is exactly what he wanted so he struck while the iron was still hot.
"What happened that night?.... And don't give me the broken record speech you taught each other," he said with his head between the two people as he released a little of his seraphic energy. That's when Xunshi Zhe panicked and confessed.
He pointed his finger at Big Hei who was sitting beside him selling him out with no second thought. "It was Big Hei..... he saw something," he said before scurrying out like a rat.
Ji Yao grinned maliciously as he leaned down before sitting right where Xunshi Zhe was sitting before. He looked like a non-violent school bully trying to figure out who stole his lackey's lunch money.
"Are you going to say it or do I have to pry it out of you?" he asked with a face as intimidating as Ji Wen's. Big Hei was resilient he wouldn't barge despite being so nervous that he was rubbing his sweaty palms.
Ji Yao admired his resilience but unfortunately, he had a trick up his sleeve. He grabbed the last issue of the manga he had been working on and held the corner of the first page clearly demonstrating his intention.
The tough guy expression on Big Hei's face fell replaced by a look of panic. He grabbed the book away from the vile beast and embraced it like he was afraid Ji Yao would take it back.
"How about you talk now?"
Big Hei was chirping like a bird after that. Ten minutes later Rui Fei who had been dragged into meditation by his uncle under the guise of controlling his outbursts and not being ruled by emotions had his collar pulled open all of a sudden. Granted, Rui Fei felt like this was a waste of time.
He was at the best part of his book when this uncle dragged him out of bed and brought him to the forward deck of the ship. He was glad when someone came to rescue him from this annoying session but soon he was regretting it.
Ji Yao grabbed his collar and exposed the beautiful blue and dark purple mark that looked like a gorgeous painting. Ji Yao grimaced with his hand on his forehead. He couldn't believe it. This is why they say liquor is the devil's backbone.
While he was wasted he was busy gnawing on his junior in a tit for tat. He felt so bad that he had nothing else to say. What's worse is that he declared sovereignty on Rui Fei while drunk and almost roasted Big Hei. This is why he missed his father, at least he would be here to stop him from doing stupid things.
