Chapter 121 - Don't Go
One should never ever trust a drunken man's actions but one can most definitely trust their words. And why is that one might ask? It is because, in terms of actions they are like a baseball when a player hits a home run into the stands, you never know who they are going to hit.
You never know if you are going to get either a happy drunk or an aggressive drunk. But as for their words, it is said: "a drunken man's words are a sober man's thoughts."
Unfortunately for Rui Fei, a drunk Ji Yao did a lot of doing and a whole lot less of speaking. Firstly, he refused to get up which wasn't doing Rui Fei any justice. He was as hard as a steel pipe and so embarrassed that he hoped Ji Yao wouldn't remember all of this.
Secondly, he was covering up Rui Fei's lapel as though afraid someone would see what's underneath. If Rui Fei so much as opened his robe a little, Ji Yao would slap his hand and tell him, "No." So you can imagine what this young man was feeling right now.
The only way he brought his torture to an end was through so much convincing which was incredibly hard. Has anyone ever tried to reason with a stubborn person? The frustration was the same. He was already embarrassed as it is and now he had to present an argument just to convince Ji Yao to get off.
When Ji Yao finally complied he was especially clingy. He was like a sticky rice dumpling sitting so close to Rui Fei you would think they were conjoined twins. When he wanted to get up and replace the dishes on the table, Ji Yao refused to let him go, point blank with no room to negotiate.
Rui Fei was happy they were holding hands with their fingers entwined together but he also knew if he didn't go find food Ji Yao would wake up feeling like crap.
Yes, it was his fault for having brought liquor in that tray but he didn't think Ji Yao would drink as though drinking juice and that it would be that potent. The guy seemed fine when he came back with the jade tile but things escalated from then on.
The two of them sat like this for a good thirty minutes with Ji Yao's head resting on Rui Fei's shoulders. His hand was getting numb so he tried to move a little and get back the feeling in his hand but Ji Yao tightened his hold mumbling,
"Don't.... Please stay..... the-they all come but they never stay. Sh-she left me..... *sigh..... and now he too is, is gone," said Ji Yao with his head shifting around as though looking for a comfortable place to rest, "Don't go."
Rui Fei felt numb but after hearing such words he tightened his grip on Ji Yao's hand as he swallowed his emotions down. His eyes reddened as he glanced down at the top of Ji Yao's head. He couldn't help but kiss the top of his head in a lingering emotional kiss before saying, "I won't I promise."
As though satisfied by his answer Ji Yao slowly drifted off to sleep. One hour into his sleep Rui Fei carried him into an inner chamber after making sure they had changed the sheets to a new set. He still managed to cater to his sweet heart's preferences even when Ji Yao had fallen asleep.
After tucking him in Rui Fei managed to make him drink some honey water before slipping into the quilt himself. The two cuddled to sleep like a litter of kittens which was a lovely scene.
What Rui Fei didn't realise was that the second biting incident had sparked the flames of gossip. That is to say, Big Hei couldn't keep his mouth shut despite being afraid for his life.
This though wasn't entirely his fault because when one sees such a big man running for his life everyone would want to know why and would find out the truth by any means necessary. Which meant they pried that information out of Big Hei.
When they heard this they couldn't understand what sort of foreplay kids these days are into. Biting to the point of breaking skin? is that what raves the engine these days? The veterans who had been married for years and decades even couldn't figure it out.
Because the crew was curious about what sort of relationship these two had they sent Old Du who was good at recon without being noticed. So when Rui Fei carried Ji Yao into the room and didn't come out this old fox saw everything and boy was he thrilled to spill the tea.
While some were trying to figure out this unusual pair of lovers, the other Rui siblings weren't idle. They had a score to settle with their dearest grandfather. After getting permission from Rui Fei to disfigure not kill the pair slipped away to find this man.
They knew the emperor had been locked up in the cold palace but who would have thought they would get a buy one get one free package bargain. Not only was there the emperor but the empress dowager was also there comforting her son.
When she saw them her initial response was to shout derogatory slurs at them calling them beasts and monsters while cursing their family generations a thousand times over. The irony was simply too much to bear.
It was only when she saw the little girl did her heart stop. She had plenty of grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than she could count on both her hands but she had never had one that resembled herself. The little girl was an exact copy of her as though she was a clone.
She never has anything to do with Prince Rui neither had she looked at him for years. Her hate for the Nocru was etched in her bones because they were solely responsible for her father's death during the incident fifty years ago. So when she found out her son's favourite concubine was Nocru she wasn't too accepting.
In fact, she abused her daughter in law projecting her rage on her like she was the one who killed her father. Anything from scalding her with hot congee and subjecting her to twenty lashes were on the table.. Even the little prince wasn't spared.
