Chapter 171 Events At Carmilla House (2)

It was an awkward and funny moment to have reached the Carmilla House with Chaerin and making sure that the two of you looked presentable. Lukas glanced at Chaerin up and down and checked that she was fully dressed before he inched closer and adjusted the strap of her bra from behind her back.

"Oof." Chaerin touched her back and sheepishly smiled. "Thanks, Lukas."

"My pleasure." Lukas said as he patted himself down and made sure everything was in place. His pants were properly zipped up and he wasn't exposing himself anywhere. Not that he actually minded showing off his body, but now wasn't really the time for it.

The two of them approached the gates of the Carmilla House and somehow, there were already quite a number of vehicles parked in the mansion's parking lot.

If Lukas had to compare it to the Aurelius and Weisse one, this one was actually much bigger than the two combined and it truly looked more suited for social events.

Since Lukas and Chaerin weren't exactly dressed as sharply as the others, they ended up getting stopped at the door until they explained their situation.

"Some folks came to pick us up in the Atticus residence but we only managed to come right now on our own." Lukas said.

"Is that true?" the guards looked at each other, almost as if wanting to verify it.

"The guests of the Carmilla sisters were dressed similarly as them earlier, they're probably from the same group. Let them in." Another guard called out from inside of the mansion.

A Vampire with ordinary brown hair and red eyes strolled up to them and inclined his head. "I presume that you must be Lukas and this is Chaerin?"

"Yeah. Who are you?" Lukas raised a brow. He hadn't almost detected the guy until he showed himself… the guards of the Carmilla House actually had people with the real deal.

"Nobody important. I'm just one of the guards assigned to wait for special guests. I'll escort the two of you to the main hall."

Chaerin and Lukas glanced at each other. It was a strange way of addressing oneself and Lukas thought that was a lie, but the two followed the guy where he led them and it was something that might have fitted a Victorian-esque ballroom.

Several guests were located in their tables, though some were standing around and intermingling with each other.

Banquet tables lined at the side of the hall and was open to the peckish guests who wished to snack while they waited.

If Lukas didn't know any better, this seemed like a banquet that had been organized at least a day or two prior to this. The decorations were tasteful and beautiful, a certain luxurious theme that signified opulence and class.

"We're really underdressed, huh?" Chaerin said as she hugged Lukas' arm.

Lukas didn't seem all that bothered with the people's glances their way, but Chaerin was a little uneasy similar to when they attended the banquet at the Weisse manor.

"We're making our own statement." Lukas patted Chaerin's hand comfortingly and glanced around. "Where's our friends though? We don't see them around here."

"They'll be coming out once they're introduced by the Carmilla Overlord." The Vampire explained. "For now, let me find you an unoccupied table and—"

"Oh, I see Elias." Lukas let out a whistle.

The blond Vampire was seated alone in a table without his grandfather and he looked particularly uneasy, despite the fact that Lukas had a feeling that this event normally seemed to be in his territory.

Before the guard of the Carmilla House could stop the couple, Lukas ventured forward with Chaerin and went to greet the Vampire.

Not for any particular reason… except that it was probably really useful to be associated with another Overlord in case anything were to go south.

To his credit, when Von Elias Aurelius saw Lukas and Chaerin, he immediately stood up and smiled as if he had expected them.

"Ah, I almost didn't think you'd make it." Elias said and then nodded at the guard. "Hello, Duncan. I did not expect to see you out of the shadows… but I presume these two require your attention?"

"Please do not disturb me when I am working, Von." Duncan clicked his tongue, caught himself but then bowed. "I've been instructed to look out for the special guests of the people that the Overlord will be introducing."

"The two of you know each other?" Lukas raised a brow. He wasn't interested in people who didn't want to introduce themselves, but if the guard caught the attention of a young lord of a noble house, then it meant that they really were someone.

"Ah yes, Duncan here is from the Durand House." Elias gestured with a small smile.

"That… I'd prefer if you keep such things to yourself." Duncan stiffly said, but then glanced at Lukas and Chaerin. "Will the two of you be seating with this young lord?"

"Yeah, I think so." Lukas said. "I mean, unless Elias here has any problems."

"Not at all." Elias said, looking calm and unbothered now.

"Very well then, I'll take my leave." Duncan bowed his head and then stepped out from the small atmosphere formed with the trio being around.

"Er… hello again, Young Lord Aurelius." Chaerin curtsied a little. She looked not necessarily comfortable, the fact that more people looked at them was terrible, but she understood what Lukas was going for.

"Ah, pardon my manners." Elias' gaze finally fell on Chaerin and Lukas, before he pulled out a chair. "Would you care for a seat, Miss?"

Lukas raised a brow at the sudden gesture. "What about me? Not gonna offer me a chair?"

Elias' expression finally returned to something more present and he glanced at Lukas' way. "I did not expect that you'd want such treatment from me. But very well, you can take the chair if you want to."

At this, Chaerin's brows finally rose. She hadn't actually seen Lukas being prickly with Theodore or Alexei… this was quite new.
