Chapter 156 Carmilla House (3)
"Do you really think they've met Elias?" Genevieve asked Catherine and Rowena. The three sisters led the way to the Carmilla House's abode and were currently discussing what Theodore had claimed.
"I don't think Elias would have simply let them walk away if that was true." Catherine disagreed. "What if we contact him? Let him know that we found these people who claimed to be Vardokens?"
"Two of them claimed to be Vardokens, and the other one said he was a Farkas." Genevieve wrinkled her nose.
"I think the first one was lying just so he could leave without problems." Rowena muttered.
"But it doesn't make sense to lie about that. It's just confusing… especially when he's just with more liars too." Genevieve said.
"...What if it's true though?" Catherine hummed and rubbed her chin. "Then it would make a little sense for him to lie if he intended to hide the two from us. But why would an extinct House suddenly have people?"
"It means that there's something in Lux that has been kept a secret." Rowena said. "Either way, I don't think it's our best intention to let the Aurelius House know, it is better to confirm it with ourselves first and then decide from there."
"Don't you think that it's a useless thing to hide? They'll end up learning eventually and the Aurelius Overlord is scary." Genevieve shuddered. "If we do contact Elias, at least we won't have to face the wrath of his grandfather."
"Doubtful." Rowena said. "He'll still be frightening, even if we contact them. Great grandmother will appreciate it more if we simply let her know in advance."
The three Carmilla House sisters continued to exchange words until they reached their home.
The city of Nyx was separated into four sectors, and they took the west sector of the city and mostly had good relations with its various residents.
"...and I thought that the Weisse House was rich." Alexei let out a whistle. "Makes me realize how much of a backwater place we are."
"Now's not the time to act like that." Stacy sighed.
"It would be in our best intention to cooperate with them." Theodore said.
"Thanks for stating the obvious." Alexei said.
"I mean, really cooperate." Theodore frowned as he stopped the van. "While Lux City has considered the Vardokens as treasonous, the Matriarch of the Carmilla House was said to have at least good relations with the Vardoken Overlord before the great war. It would be in your great interest to gain her favor."
"Wait, what?" Alexei shot a look at the assassin.
Stacy's own eyes widened and her heart pounded. Someone who knew Anastasius dis Vardoken before everything had descended into hell?
"I would have kept this information to myself, but there is good reason for me to want the two of you to be pardoned and excused." Theodore sighed. "Nobody besides Lux knows that the Vardoken House had defected, with a reasonable conversation, there's no doubt that you two may be pardoned. It's quite unlikely that the young lord Aurelius' claim of you two being elevated is likely once I reveal the reasons."
"Oh, so you're still going to say that our ancestors joined forces with humans." Alexei chuckled. "That's definitely going to put us in a better position."
"Better than to lie and for them to send word at Lux." Theodore said. "They'll reveal the same thing, so it's better for me to state it now."
"... then what was that thing about being a Farkas?" Stacy asked. She was more or less on board with the plan–and knew that if the Carmilla House's Overlord didn't favor them, then it simply meant that the noble bloods were not people she could put her faith in.
Theodore became silent and then shook his head.
"That was something I said that might have allowed us to leave without intrusion. It failed–so now it's unnecessary. Let's just go. It's best to not let them keep waiting."
There were multiple guards at the area of the Carmilla House and at the request of Rowena, several Vampires met the trio at the gates.
Theodore, Alexei and Stacy were led through the home of the Carmilla House, traveling through various corridors and noticed a lot of children roaming around. If it weren't for the guards at their side, the children would have poked and disturbed them.
"Who are they?" some children pointed directly at them.
"Are they bad people? Is grandma Heloise going to eat them?"
Those words weren't the most reassuring to hear, but soon the trio and the Carmilla sisters stepped inside of a master's bedroom. There was a certain sensual atmosphere within the place along with sounds that quickly came to a halt.
"What's the meaning of this?" an annoyed woman's voice came from the bed. "I told people not to interrupt me unless it's a life or death matter."
A couple of young Vampire men were also present in the bed, all of them in different states of undress.
Stacy immediately looked away and Alexei would have covered her eyes, if he hadn't been using his hands to cover his own.
Theodore was also looking everywhere else but at the bed.
The three Carmilla House sisters were at least used to the rather active sex life of their Matriarch and simply curtsied.
"Matriarch Carmilla, two of these people have claimed to be descendants from the Vardoken House–"
"What?!" The Matriarch of the Carmilla House was a mature-looking woman, and if she could have been compared to Charlotte Atticus… the Matriarch would have called the latter a fraud.
The Atticus woman retained her beauty through her 'gift' of changing her form while the Matriarch didn't age like other Vampires because of her bloodline.
"Out now, all of you except for my granddaughters and these newcomers." The Matriarch sent her lovers away and sat up from her bed, looking a bit disheveled but also serious.
Unfortunately, the Vardokens and Theodore were still not meeting her eyes.
"Why are they covering their faces? I can't see what they look like."
"You're still naked, great-grandmother." Rowena said.
