Chapter 51

Chapter 51 - Military Training

Zhong Sifang shot Ye Hao a resentful glance.

He was aware that Ye Hao had embarrassed him.

Ye Hao was simply too powerful.

Their combined attack, all four of them, was futile.

Once Zhong Sifang had departed, Zhang Lan gazed at Ye Hao with sparkling eyes, “Have you ever studied martial arts?”

“Somewhat,” Ye Hao replied, careful not to reveal that he was a cultivator.

“Will you teach me?” Zhang Lan asked eagerly.

After appraising Zhang Lan, Ye Hao responded, “You don't have the aptitude for martial arts training.”

Annoyed, Zhang Lan retorted, “If you don't want to teach me, just say so.”

Ye Hao just smiled and remained silent.

Truth be told, Ye Hao had no idea how to identify someone's talent for martial arts, nor did he know how to go about teaching it. Moreover, even if he did, he wasn't inclined to instruct others.

After purchasing some breakfast, Ye Hao made his way back to the dorm.

“It's already 6:20 AM. How long do you plan to sleep?” Ye Hao joked as he set down the breakfast.

“Is it 6:20 already?” Zheng Xiaolong said, rubbing his eyes.

“I'm still not fully awake,” Xiao Laoshi complained.

“Whose fault is it for staying up so late?” Ye Hao teased, gesturing to the breakfast on the table. “I've brought breakfast for you guys.”

At the mention of breakfast, Yuan Gaoxing and the others perked up.

After freshening up, they eagerly devoured their breakfast.

“Why are you up so early, Ye Hao?” Zheng Xiaolong inquired, biting into a meat bun.

“Morning run.”

“A run? You're always so full of energy,” Xiao Laoshi remarked, impressed.

Considering Ye Hao was the last one to go to bed the previous night!

“I've got plenty of energy,” Ye Hao said, donning his military uniform and checking his reflection in the mirror.

Ye Hao noticed that his skin had become smoother and more resilient thanks to the transformative effects of the Divine Blood.

Even the small blemishes on his face had vanished.

“I think I've gotten a bit more handsome,” Ye Hao mused, stroking his chin.

“You're not as good-looking as I am,” Zheng Xiaolong quipped, approaching with a hand on his sparse stubble. “Do you think I should shave off this beard?”

“You've always been the ugly one,” Yuan Gaoxing chimed in, freshly washed hands on his hips, standing behind them. “I'm clearly the best-looking guy in our dorm.”

“I'm the best-looking guy in our dorm,” Zheng Xiaolong countered immediately.

“You're about to be late,” Ye Hao said, glancing at the time before turning to head toward the sports field.

“Ye Hao, wait up!” Xiao Laoshi quickly pulled on his clothes and ran after Ye Hao.

“Last one out locks the door,” Zheng Xiaolong called out as he dashed off.

By the time Ye Hao and the other three reached the sports field, nearly all their classmates were already there, lined up in two rows by gender.

Ye Hao and his companions naturally joined the line of boys. To his surprise, Bai Hehua was standing right next to him.

“Ye Hao, I want to switch spots with you,” Zheng Xiaolong murmured, coming up beside Ye Hao.

Without hesitation, Ye Hao moved over to Zheng Xiaolong's spot.

As Zheng Xiaolong was pondering his opening line, Bai Hehua swapped places with a girl behind her, ending up next to Ye Hao once again.

“Don't think you can shake me off,” Bai Hehua said, fixing Ye Hao with a cold stare.

“Look, I've got nothing against you,” Ye Hao replied, exasperated.

“Why didn't you add me on WhatsApp?”

“I'll add you right now.”

“I don't feel like it anymore.”

“So, what am I supposed to do?”

“You need to apologize.”

“Fine, I apologize.”

“You're not even sincere.”

“Damn.”

“Ye Hao, are you cursing at me?” Bai Hehua accused, pointing at him angrily.

The whole class turned to look at them.

With a stern expression, Leng Xue approached and inquired, “What's the problem here?”

“Miss Leng, you've got to stand up for me,” Bai Hehua implored, looking at Leng Xue with pleading eyes.

“The instructor is about to arrive. Bai Hehua, if you keep causing trouble, I might just deduct your credits,” Leng Xue warned, giving Bai Hehua a sharp look before walking away.

Leng Xue was aware that Bai Hehua was at fault.

What was happening?

Bai Hehua was completely taken aback!

And just as Bai Hehua was about to speak, a chorus of gasps echoed around them.

“The instructor has arrived.”

“They're all so good-looking.”

“I'd love for one of them to be my boyfriend.”

Despite the boys' jealousy toward the instructors, they couldn't deny that the instructors looked sharp in their military uniforms.

The instructor for Ye Hao's class was a man in his twenties.

“Starting today, I am your instructor. My name is Ho Jing. Now, line up in two rows by height.”

Once Ho Jing had finished speaking, some students immediately began to rearrange themselves.

After a brief wait, Ho Jing approached Zheng Xiaolong with a stern look and asked, “Didn't you hear me?”

Ho Jing's demeanor was intimidating. Zheng Xiaolong, young and impulsive, was not one to back down easily.

Thus, Zheng Xiaolong chose silence.

Noticing Zheng Xiaolong's lack of response, Ho Jing commanded sharply, “Run three laps around the track.”

“I won't run,” Zheng Xiaolong stated, facing Ho Jing.

“Obedience to orders is a soldier's primary duty.”

“Sorry, I'm not a soldier.”

“You seem unaware that university students are members of the reserve forces, and you are currently in military training,” Ho Jing said with a stern look in his eyes. “I'll say it one last time, run three laps around the track.”

Ho Jing knew he needed to instill a sense of respect in the students if he expected them to follow his commands.

He had intended to set an example by disciplining a troublemaker to establish his authority.

But he hadn't anticipated Zheng Xiaolong's defiance.

“I won't run,” Zheng Xiaolong insisted, clenching his teeth.

“You may choose not to run, but I must inform you that I will mark you as unsatisfactory in your evaluation, which will be noted in your record,” Ho Jing said gravely.

Zheng Xiaolong's face fell, yet he remained unmoved.

Yuan Gaoxing hesitated, then spoke up, “Xiaolong, just go run.”

“Who gave you permission to speak?” Ho Jing turned his gaze to Yuan Gaoxing.

Yuan Gaoxing was cut off by Ho Jing before he could finish, “You need to report before speaking.”

“Report.”

“Go ahead.”

“Xiaolong, please, just go run,” Yuan Gaoxing urged with gravity.

Zheng Xiaolong's gaze wavered for a moment before he stepped out of formation and sprinted toward the field.

“You're up for three laps as well,” Ho Jing directed at Yuan Gaoxing.

“Why?” Yuan Gaoxing inquired, perplexed.

“No reason. You just need to follow orders,” Ho Jing stated bluntly.

Realizing the futility of resistance after recalling Zheng Xiaolong's predicament, Yuan Gaoxing left the formation and took off after Zheng Xiaolong.

Xiao Laoshi paused briefly before speaking up, “Permission to report, sir.”

“Go ahead.”

“Instructor, I'd like to request three laps too,” the straightforward Xiao Laoshi declared.

“And why is that?”

“Because I share a dorm room with Zheng Xiaolong and Yuan Gaoxing,” Xiao Laoshi replied truthfully.

“Well, if you're so keen on running, make it five laps,” Ho Jing said, glancing at Xiao Laoshi with a nonchalant expression.
