Chapter 160
Chapter 160 - Guessing Game
Ye Hao turned around and was immediately greeted by the sight of a beautiful young woman.
With excitement, Ye Hao exclaimed, “It's you!”
The young woman before him was none other than Ming Yue, the SAT runner-up.
Ming Yue smiled and said, “Back at the Proverb Championship, I wanted to talk to you, but you seemed so aloof that I never got the chance.”
“May I have the honor of talking with you now?”
Ye Hao replied with a smile, “Ming Yue, you're too kind. The honor is mine to have this conversation with you.”
“Could we add each other as friends?” Ming Yue asked, her expression tinged with sadness.
“I'll add you.” Ye Hao pulled out his phone and promptly added Ming Yue.
Ming Yue glanced at Ye Hao's phone and asked, “Why have you added so few friends?”
“Why should I add more?” he countered.
“You have a point,” Ming Yue conceded. She then gestured ahead and inquired, “Did you come to the University of Finance and Economics for a date? If so, I don't want to intrude.”
“No, I'm just tagging along with a friend,” Ye Hao clarified, shaking his head.
“Is that so?” Ming Yue asked gently.
“I wouldn't miss the chance to see you. I'd postpone even the most pressing matters,” Ye Hao assured her, admiring Ming Yue's grace.
“Let me show you somewhere special,” Ming Yue offered with a smile.
Listening to Ming Yue's melodious voice was a treat in itself.
She led him to the musical fountain at the University of Finance and Economics.
A sophisticated violin melody filled the air, harmonizing with the dance of the fountain, while numerous couples congregated around them.
“Is this really the right place for us?” Ye Hao remarked with a wry smile, noticing the romantic setting.
“It's fine,” Ming Yue reassured him. “Look at the top of the fountain.”
“What about it?” Ye Hao looked up but saw nothing out of the ordinary.
“A riddle will appear there soon. Whoever solves it will receive a mysterious prize,” Ming Yue explained with a grin.
“The mystery prize could be anything from a cash cheque to toys, or even designer bags and cosmetics.”
“Who's giving out the rewards?”
“You'll find out soon enough,” Ming Yue teased.
Just then, a procession of people made way for an elderly man, radiating vitality, as he approached the fountain.
The elder gestured with a wave of his hand, prompting dozens of individuals to encircle the students.
Ye Hao scrutinized the elder, squinting slightly as he sensed a complex and formidable energy emanating from him.
Pulling out his phone, Ye Hao quickly informed Xiao Ming about the situation.
Soon after, Xiao Ming texted back, revealing that the elder was none other than Xiao Luori, the former head of the Xiao family.
“He must be at least a middle or late period expert of the Sea-overturning realm,” Ye Hao murmured to himself.
Truth be told, Ye Hao harbored no fear of Xiao Luori. Given Ye Hao's level of cultivation, not even a late period Sea-overturning practitioner like Xiao Luori could best him in combat.
Cultivators were known to defeat warriors of their own rank, and Ye Hao was a peerless force among his fellow cultivators.
Thus, Ye Hao was significantly stronger than other cultivators of his rank by two minor realms.
“Is he the one who sent the mysterious gift?” Ye Hao inquired.
“Yes. Rumor has it that our University of Finance and Economics was established with his financial support,” Ming Yue whispered.
Ye Hao wasn't surprised by the Xiao family's capabilities. After all, in Ubliasia, it's these Houses of Martial Arts that wield true power. Even the elite must pay respect to such families, as the nation relies on their members.
Just then, a word puzzle materialized at the fountain's apex. As the puzzle appeared, every couple present lapsed into contemplation.
Ye Hao quietly voiced the solution.
Following his words, a black-clad youth nearby snapped his fingers, and the word puzzle at the fountain's peak vanished instantly.
The young man in black approached Ye Hao and invited, “This way, please.”
Without hesitation, Ye Hao followed him to meet Xiao Luori.
Xiao Luori gave Ye Hao a cursory glance and remarked, “I don't recognize you.”
“I'm not a student at the University of Finance and Economics,” Ye Hao responded.
“That explains it,” Xiao Luori said, who was a familiar presence at the university, having met over 95% of its students.
Xiao Luori presented Ye Hao with a brocade box, saying, “This is your reward for solving the riddle correctly.”
Upon opening the brocade box, Ye Hao found a pure silver plaque inside.
The plaque was worth over five hundred RMB.
“Thank you.” With those words, Ye Hao turned and rejoined Ming Yue.
At that moment, a new riddle materialized above the fountain.
As soon as the riddle appeared, Ye Hao fell into contemplation.
Suddenly, Ming Yue called out the solution.
With Ming Yue's answer, the riddle at the fountain's apex vanished. A young man in black then escorted Ming Yue to Xiao Luori.
“Ming Yue,” Xiao Luori greeted her with a smile, recognizing her extraordinary talent.
Xiao Luori was aware that she had been the one to solve the riddle each month and claim the prize.
“Mr. Xiao,” Ming Yue greeted him sweetly.
Xiao Luori, still smiling, handed Ming Yue another brocade box.
Inside the box, Ming Yue discovered a bracelet crafted from yellow rosewood.
“This is incredibly valuable,” Ming Yue whispered.
“The yellow rosewood has imperfections; otherwise, the bracelet's value would be tenfold,” Xiao Luori remarked casually.
Ming Yue gratefully accepted the bracelet, aware of its worth exceeding thirty thousand RMB.
“The next riddle is the same as before,” Xiao Luori said, looking at Ming Yue. “Have you figured it out yet?”
Ming Yue gently shook her head.
At that moment, a new riddle emerged at the pinnacle of the fountain.
Ye Hao caught sight of the riddle and was momentarily taken aback.
He had encountered this riddle at Riverbank Academy and remembered its solution.
