Chapter 22 Boss (2)
After finishing another mission with Lana and Louise, Jake found a problem. While he only made six thousand coins during that mission, he still found another Vampiric Dagger. Not to mention, he also obtained two of the same capes he was wearing. Aside from some aesthetic effects and the Stealth skill, the Cape didn't have much use, but those two returned the capes to Jake for other reasons.
"I don't look good in black," Louise said.
"I prefer more vibrant colors as well," Lana said.
It was because of that kind of thing that Jake found it troublesome to play with non-gamers. Still, he couldn't deny their skills and the fact that their presence really sped up their hunting speed.
"See you tomorrow," Lana said. "Louise, do you want to go somewhere tonight? I feel like stretching my legs a little bit."
"Well…" Louise hesitated. "I really like to do my shopping online."
Those two left while talking about that. Jake felt troubled since they assumed that they would form a party tomorrow as well. Still, he couldn't deny the benefits.
"Hey, mister popular," Luke said. "Where are your girlfriends? Did they get you trying to get the third one?"
"I want to sell these," Jake ignored the question and showed him that day's loot."
"I am impressed… for someone who only started playing yesterday, you sure know how to play," Luke said. "Let's see… I can pay you eighty thousand coins for these. By the way, we also pay one thousand coins for each herb that you might have."
Jake couldn't deny that he smelled like them. Still, he was a bit surprised since he only found two others in the last mission. Regardless, he just needed a bit more to have fifty thousand coins. He thought he would have enough the next day in the evening, but he might get it today.
"I know that you are interested in that sword, but I can sell you a stronger set for warriors like you that will grant you a new class," Luke said. "It will cost only twenty thousand coins."
A new class and new skills that sure looked pretty interesting. While Jake wanted a long-ranged skill, he wasn't in a desperate need of one. Louise could attack from a distance, and her Aim was superb.
"Nah, for the time being, I am fine," Jake said.
Truth to be told, Jake already could buy the sword. He just had to sell the herbs. Still, he didn't want to do that since he already could see the potential those could have. Jake passed the items to Luke, and then he passed the coins via a handshake.
"If you are going solo tonight, I have this group that could need a warrior like you," Luke said.
"No thanks, one group is already troublesome enough for me," Jake said.
Luke already seemed like an acquaintance that was too troublesome since he was pretty smart and could understand the way Jake thinks. Getting acquainted with others like him would be too troublesome.
Jake headed toward the crystal server and then rubbed his chin while he was thinking of what to do. The fourth map still wasn't unlocked, so he only had three options. Perhaps if he selects the second mission of the third map, then he will have enough fame to unlock a new map.
"Finding more herbs will be difficult by myself, so I guess I should return to the Deadly Forest," Jake thought.
The stings of the bees still could cause nine points of damage on him, but he could recover at least six by killing one with normal attacks thanks to Lesser Vampirism, so it was fine. Hopefully, Jake will find the dungeon this time…
Jake selected the second mission of the third map and then appeared back on the Deadly Forest. Without wasting any time, he tried to see which direction he had gone before. Still, as expected, he spawned in a different location, so it was impossible to tell. After a long sigh, he understood that the only way to find the dungeon was by relying on luck or crossing the whole place as fast as possible, and so he did it.
When the first bee appeared, Jake charged toward it like a beast and swung his sword while holding it with both hands to one side and to the other. Sensing the danger coming from the attack, the bee tried to retreat, but Jake didn't allow the monster to do so.
His first sword strike slashed the stomach of the creature and then pushed the beast back a little bit, but the momentum gave him the chance to cut the monster down before it could escape.
You obtained 05 coins.
"Two sword strikes without using skills is already enough…" Jake muttered. "This feels weird, though. It makes me think that the game isn't well balanced since I can't access the fourth map."
That makes Jake wonder, was it because the next zones would be even more difficult? That would explain why certain players were still trying to clear the first dungeon… They needed the power of the special class. That, or they were just newbies who didn't know how to fight. That was another weird thing since, from Jake's experience, everything was pretty natural.
