Transmigrate to another world

As the darkness fades, I am back on top of the demon's corpse with my hand gripping Blitz by the hilt. I can instantly feel the difference in the sword that is now Drog's home.

I extract the Blitz from the corpse, clean it and sheathe it. I then walk away from the corpse and sit in meditation for ten hours. When I come out of meditation, I immediately check my MP.

Well, I guess the new skill is useless!

So much for my dreams of being a powerful mage. I enter the inner world meditation to take a look and see if I can heal whatever it is I've done to myself. My core, my mana veins and my mana channels seem to be fine.

It takes me a while, but I finally find the part of my brain that allows me to use mana. It's completely burned out, and nothing I try makes any difference. I guess the flood of mana from the ice burned out my ability to use magic.

It's a depressing thought, but I've never relied too heavily on magic. I'll have to look for other ways to do things. I hope it was worth it. I get up and head towards the wreckage that was on the ice with the demon to find out.

I take a look and see a skeleton with some chunks of flesh on the bones. He was wearing a loose tunic and a belt with a pouch, I also see that he was wearing two rings and a necklace. As soon as I touch him, his body turns to dust and only what he was wearing remains.

Come to think of it, he probably had other clothes and shoes, but they rotted away. Which means what didn't rot is probably haunted. I pick up the belt and bag first, stare at the bag and active observe.

Wow, what a useful incantation.

I open the bag and reach in, but I don't notice anything inside, so I turn it upside down and make it empty. Out comes a bunch of stuff: a book, some loose gems, a string, and over a hundred wrapped sticks. I take one of the bars and unwrap it, it looks like a cereal bar, so I take a bite. It's pretty tasty, so I finish it quickly, what surprises me is that with just one bar I'm full.

I put the rest of the bars back in the bag, counting as I go, one hundred and thirty-seven bars left. I also put the rope back in the bag, then I take a look at the gems but I don't see anything special so they also go in the bag. Finally I take the book, on the cover it just says diary.

I open it and start flipping through the pages to see how long it is. I quickly flip through the amount of pages a book of this size should have and it stays that way, I close the book and activate observe.

"MAGIC OBJECT."

It's going to take me a long time to read it, so I put it back in the bag as well. I'll start reading it later, when I get back to the forge room. Then I look at the belt the pouch is attached to.

Another useful object, I quickly put on the belt. It doesn't look big enough for me when I hold it, but once I get it around my waist it fits perfectly. how cool are magic items! Next I grab the tunic and watch.

Not bad but not really useful to me so it goes in the bag. The rings when I check them are both caster rings which won't be of any use to me so they also go in the bag. That leaves the necklace.

What, my observation level isn't high enough to identify it? Well, for now it can go in the bag too. That's it for the Archmage's stuff, now for the demon corpse.

I reach over and turn the demon corpse over, then cut open its chest. I extract the heart and eat it in a couple of bites.

DP? That's new, I wonder if it means demonic power? Maybe I shouldn't have eaten the heart.

"Drog, do demons use demonic power?"

Drog says "Yes, that's how we use the abilities."

"If I have demonic power does that make me a demon?"

Drog says "No, as long as you have a human soul you can't be a demon."

"Ah, okay, fine."

Reassured, a little, I pull Drog's core out of his corpse and take a look at it.

"What do you think would happen if I absorbed your core, Drog?"

Drog says "How should I know? Wait, you can absorb cores?"

"Yeah, I do it with beast cores all the time."

Drog says "That shouldn't be possible, only mana beasts can absorb cores from other beasts."

"So only demons can absorb demon cores?"

Drog says "Yes, that's how we gain power."

I look at the core again, if I'm going to do this I better do it before Ruby wakes up. That's probably a bad idea.

"Yes!"

- Demon core absorbed! The core fusion process has begun!
