Transmigrate to another world

Chapter 50: Blitz!

I finish carving the scabbard and put it aside for now, put the sword in my lap and enter the inner world. When I look at the sword with the inner sight it looks like it's made of mana, there are so many mana dots that it's hard to separate them. This is definitely going to take a while, but I don't plan to do it the same way I did with Ruby's swords.

I turn my attention to my own core and start to chip away at it, but this time I collect the fragments that break off instead of letting my body absorb them. Once I have what I consider to be a decent amount, I begin to move them down my body to the tip of my finger resting on the hilt of the sword.

Pulling the shards out of my body hurts enough to make me scream, but I keep going until all the shards are in the hilt of the sword.

- Core upgrade progress: 4%.

I get up and stretch before heading back to camp to get something to eat and sleep. For all I know, I've been working for at least a couple of days. After eating and sleeping, I return to the forge room and resume my meditation. I concentrate again on the sword and begin to carefully move my core fragments together, then begin to move the mana points to the same place one by one.

My hope is to make the sword core form around the fragments of mine and bind the sword to me, but for all I know, this will make it explode. The hours fly by as I move each mana point very carefully to the center of the hilt.

It seems like days have passed when I move the last piece of mana to the hilt. When the last piece falls into place, there is a flash that blinds my inner vision for a few minutes.

When I can look again, the core of the sword is complete and the mana veins have begun to grow on their own. The core is pure white and throbbing when I look at it. Now comes the dangerous part as far as I can see. I focus on the core and cast a lightning bolt.

MP: 656/716

There was no explosion, that's a good sign! I looked closely at the core and saw only a tiny yellow flash. So I launched the beam again and again.

When I check the core again, I see a yellow line on the target - it works! I can turn it into a lightning sword, but it looks like it will take a lot of lightning to make it work. I cast the lightning ten more times.

- By having an Intelligence greater than 100 the Superior Intelligence has evolved to Supreme Intelligence.

√ Supreme Intelligence

- You gain your intelligence stat as damage to magic attacks.

When I check the core again, only one eighth of it is yellow. I also notice that streaks of mana now run all over the sword. I start to worry that I can complete the enchantment before I turn it into a lightning-based sword.

Then I start disenchanting things faster and bombarding them with lightning bolt after lightning bolt. By the time I'm done with the remaining armor, I've launched another fifty lightning bolts at the core.

⟨⟨-DING-⟩⟩.

- Congratulations, the Lightning skill has advanced to level 5!

√ Lightning

√ Level 5

- MP cost 40

- You launch a lightning bolt that deals 225 points of electrical damage.

I'm surprised that the sword is taking all this magic damage and didn't explode. I'm glad, but when I decided to try this I never imagined it would take this much lightning. When I check the core again, it looks like half of it is yellow.

I look around but I've disenchanted everything I had stacked in the armory, so I take the giant axe and comet shield off my back and disenchant those as well. That gives me another twenty-five lightning bolts, but even with that the core is still not complete. So I go into normal meditation and meditate for fourteen hours to recharge my mana.

MP: 728/728

That gives me enough mana to cast lightning eighteen more times. If this core is not completed soon, I may end up evolving lightning next, that is, if it is a skill that can evolve. The core is not ready yet, so I meditate again for fourteen hours and then cast lightning eighteen times.

⟨⟨-DING-⟩⟩.

- Congratulations, the Lightning skill has advanced to level 6!

√ Lightning

√ Level 6

- MP cost 40

- You launch a lightning bolt that deals 250 points of electrical damage.

When I check the core again, I am happy to see that almost everything is yellow with only a few white spots, so I meditate again for fourteen hours to recharge my mana and start throwing lightning bolts at the core one after another. After the sixth lightning bolt, the sword suddenly explodes with lightning flashing up and down the blade.

'Yes! I've done it! I created a more powerful magic item and didn't kill myself.

I grab Blitz and hold it with both hands, I can feel the tingling energy just by holding the hilt. I quickly walk out into the cave outside the forge room and take a few swings with Blitz. It feels amazing, the balance is perfect and wielding it feels totally natural.

"Now that's a sword that kills demons!"
