Chapter 377: 377: The Beautiful Reporter’s Invitation

Chapter 377: Chapter 377: The Beautiful Reporter’s Invitation
Luo Ziling, carrying a bunch of bags, was prepared for an interrogation when he returned to his dormitory. Surprisingly, when he got back, the room was pitch dark, with not a soul in sight, no idea where those three guys had gone off to waste their time!

This suited Luo Ziling just fine as he didn’t have to explain himself.

After tidying up the clothes and fruits in the bags and preparing to wash up, Luo Ziling’s phone rang.

Looking at the caller ID, to his surprise, it was Chen Xiaoyi, the beautiful journalist who had interviewed him last time.

Still, he answered the phone very politely.

“Hello, is this student Luo Ziling?” came the pleasant voice of Chen Xiaoyi from the phone, “This is Chen Xiaoyi, the radio journalist who interviewed you yesterday.”

“Journalist Chen, hello,” Luo Ziling replied politely, “It’s quite late, did you need something from me?”

“Late? It’s not even half past eight,” Chen Xiaoyi giggled, “I was wondering if you’d like to join me for a coffee, would you be so kind as to accept?”

Chen Xiaoyi unexpectedly asking him for coffee left Luo Ziling taken aback, at a loss for words momentarily.

After a moment of thought, he replied somewhat embarrassedly, “I was just about to wash up and go to bed!”

“Going to bed so early?” Chen Xiaoyi was taken aback by Luo Ziling’s refusal and quickly tried another approach, “The content of our interview the day before yesterday should be broadcast the day after tomorrow. There are some details I’d like to discuss with you. Surely, you wouldn’t refuse to have coffee with me, would you?”

This made it hard for Luo Ziling to refuse, so he agreed, “Alright then!”

After agreeing, he quickly added, “Where shall we meet?”

“Do you have a car?” Chen Xiaoyi asked in return.

“How could a student like me have a car?”

Chen Xiaoyi thought for a moment, then said, “Well then, let’s meet at Blue Mountain Coffee House near your university. I’ll be there in about twenty minutes.”

“Okay!”

After hanging up the phone, Luo Ziling tidied up his face, combed his hair until he looked undeniably handsome in his own eyes, and then put on his coat and left.

It was indeed early. Cao Jianhui, Li Fuming, and Wu Longjiang had not returned from their escapades, and there were quite a few students coming and going at the school gate.

Luo Ziling walked to the Blue Mountain Coffee House mentioned by Chen Xiaoyi. Seeing that it had been only about fifteen minutes, he decided to reserve a private room anyway.

After getting the private room, he sat there alone and took out his phone to send Chen Xiaoyi a message with the room number.

Once he took out his phone, he saw several messages had come in, including one from Chen Xiaoyi. It looked like she had messaged him to join her for coffee and then called him when she didn’t receive a reply.

He sent her the private room details and replied to the other messages.

Not seeing a message from Yang Qingyin, Luo Ziling didn’t want to bother her, thinking she was probably celebrating a classmate’s birthday and might not be using her phone.

Before he had a chance to finish reading all the messages on his phone, there was a gentle knock on the door of the private room. It opened, and a beautiful woman peeked in.

The woman was wearing a large pair of glasses, dressed in a white business suit, with her hair pulled up on top of her head.

Luo Ziling knew it must be Chen Xiaoyi, but she looked different from the last time he saw her during the interview.

“Hello,” Chen Xiaoyi took off her glasses and greeted Luo Ziling with a radiant smile, “Have you been waiting long?”

With the glasses off, Luo Ziling finally fully recognized Chen Xiaoyi’s face.

Seeing the astonishment on Luo Ziling’s face, Chen Xiaoyi explained, “I just finished the program and came here. Did you see the program I hosted tonight?”

“We don’t have a TV in our dormitory, so we can’t watch it!” Luo Ziling said somewhat embarrassedly. After inviting Chen Xiaoyi to sit down, he added awkwardly, “I even don’t know what program you host!”

This statement seemed to hurt Chen Xiaoyi a bit, as she was the star host of Yanjing Channel One and quite famous. The young man in front of her didn’t even know what program she hosted.

“Then tomorrow night at seven-thirty, pay attention to Yanjing Channel One’s TV program, and you’ll find out,” Chen Xiaoyi said, looking at Luo Ziling with a somewhat pressing stare, “After watching my program, perhaps you’ll start to like that column.”

“I’ll check it out tomorrow night at seven-thirty,” Luo Ziling said with an embarrassed smile, then asked Chen Xiaoyi, “What would you like to drink?”

“A latte and some dessert, please. I haven’t had dinner tonight,” Chen Xiaoyi was straightforward with her request, “You don’t mind treating me to these, do you?”

“Of course not,” facing Chen Xiaoyi’s somewhat dominating gaze, Luo Ziling felt a bit restrained and his smile seemed a bit unnatural, “Order whatever you like!”

Without any reservations, Chen Xiaoyi summoned the waiter, ordered for herself, and then asked Luo Ziling, “What would you like?”

The situation looked as though Chen Xiaoyi was the one inviting, rather than Luo Ziling.

“I’ll have a cup of Longjing tea,” Luo Ziling didn’t like coffee, a drink he had tried once and found little interest in thereafter.

Chen Xiaoyi told the waiter Luo Ziling’s order, then instructed the waiter to bring their items quickly.

After the waiter left, Chen Xiaoyi’s gaze fell back on Luo Ziling, and she asked curiously, “Ziling, where are you from?”

“My hometown is Yuezhou in Jiangnan Province.” Luo Ziling initially intended to say he was from the Northwest, but after learning his true hometown was Yuezhou, he corrected himself.

“Oh?! A very famous place. That little city is really quite consistent with your temperament,” as Chen Xiaoyi spoke, her eyes continued to sweep across Luo Ziling’s face, “Have your classmates at school voted you as the campus heartthrob?”

This bold question turned Luo Ziling’s face red. He wanted to admit it, yet felt somewhat embarrassed and could only shake his head, “I don’t know, I never paid attention to that.”

The slightly bashful expression on Luo Ziling’s face and the clarity in his eyes when he looked at her made Chen Xiaoyi want to laugh.

However, at that moment, her phone rang. After saying sorry, she picked up and went to a private booth to take the call.

After the call, as she prepared to return to the booth, she heard someone calling her, “Xiaoyi, you’re here too?”

“Brother, why is it you?” Chen Xiaoyi was very surprised; the man who called her turned out to be her brother, and she also noticed a very beautiful and voluptuous woman beside him, prompting her to ask curiously, “Who is this?”

“A teacher from Yan University. We’re here having coffee together,” the man introduced and seemed eager to leave, as if afraid of Chen Xiaoyi asking more, “We have to go on with our own business. You enjoy your time!”

But Chen Xiaoyi did not plan to let him go so easily. After blocking her brother, she gritted her teeth and asked, “Chen Zhong*ma, how many girlfriends have you had this month?”
