The World's most Overpowered Side-Character

Chapter 395 Past and Future Godslayer.

"What have I gotten myself into this time?" Sol asked, the last thing he remembered was getting struck by Primordial Divine lightning before everything went black, but now he was suddenly safely seated in a comfortable chair facing a man who had his head hidden under a hood with shadows for a face.

"That is a good question, Sol Vestic," The man answered. "I often wondered when you would offend the wrong person and end up here."

"Did I die?"

"Let us converse a little before-"

"No, if I'm not dead then I have to return, Ikaris and everyone else is waiting for me." He stubbornly stood, looking arounf and frowning when he realised where he was. "What the hell is going on, how can I be inside of the Grey and not feel it at all?"

"Take a seat, Sol." The man raised his hand and gestured to the chair again. "Let us converse."

Sol stood there staring at him silently, he had no presence, he had nothing that hinted at them ever being acquainted in the past. "Who are you, and why am I here?" He asked already in the mind to become hostile, but the moment he turned to the man fully he was again seated. "What the...?"

"You offended the wrong person, you played your luck too hard and ran out of it, that is why you are here, and as for who I am, I do not know that either, but in the meantime I will assume the appearance of someone that you once knew and you may refer to me as that person."

The man slowly raised his hands and removed his dark hood, revealing a head of messy blonde hair and blue eyes, clean skin with a strong jawline and thin lips. The mystery stranger had taken the appearance of none other than Han.

"There are so many better options, why did you choose this one?" Sol frowned as soon as he caught on.

"This face is one that you often remember I assume, someone who played a pivotal role in moulding the person you are today." Han answered. "If you were to see my face, it would cause... complications."

"I don't like this one bit, I need to go."

"Please," Han gestured to the chair. "Remain seated, we are conversing."

"How can I be inside of The Grey and have no power, are you some kind of Omnipotent intruder, are you here to steal my power?"

"Nothing of the sort, Sol," The man wearing Han's face chuckled.

"I am he who dwellled before."

"What the f..." Sol took a breath and leaned forward. "Okay, I am listening, what does that mean?" He asked, taking a rational approach to this irrational and unexplainable situation.

"I am the one who possessed this place before you did, you are here because this is where you ran to after you were attacked by whomever caused you to end up here." He answered.

"That doesn't make any sense, if this is actually the Grey then why am I not in control, It seized total power after I was stranded on a farm on Central Province over a year ago.

"Because you should not be here, Sol Vestic, you are out of sync, out of sorts, out of time." He answered direcly.

"What?"

"This is the past, you are in the distant past, long before I your predecessor died, that is why you have no power here."

"Oh... Sol closed his eyes and began rubbing his forehead. "I suppose that is okay then, I thought I was stuck in some kind of nightmarish dimension without a way to return, but if I am in the past then I suppose there is nothing to worry about.

"That is not how time works," The previous Godslayer shook his head. "You being in the past does not mean that the future will stop moving; although the flow of time in here is different, it does not mean you have the luxury of waiting for an eternity and just hopping off when your time is here."

"Time is linear, every point in time is a fixed point, even if you are here in the past, your future is still moving, everything you have experienced is still your past, unless you directly tamper with reality and change the past, it will remain the past."

"Then," Sol's eyes went wide with hope. "Does that mean I can-"n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"It will cause irreprible damage to the flow of time and destroy your present, replacing it with a future you cannot return from a second time, as I said, it is linear, even if you fix a paved road and replace every grain of sand and stone with identical ones, they will all be different stones, the hole mined to create those will remain, and the stones and sand that were previously lost will remain lost."

"So... I have to return, but I can't tamper with the flow of time to do it and I can't even use my powers." Sol summarised. "I'm fucked then, what am I supposed to do?"

"Do not fret, visitor from an uncertain time, I have the power to return you to the future, this too, is a fixed point in time, although we are having this conversation for the first time we have already had this conversation in your past; my present, which is also now your present..."

"Okay, stop, it's confusing, just do it." Sol sighed in relief.

"Not yet, I am not yet powerful enough," He chuckled. "I need to first banish the darkness and her minion to save this dying reality, I am in the middle of recovery." He admitted.

"How long will that take?" Sol asked, remembering the few details Ikaris knew of this time.

"I do not know, but do not worry, the flow of time will not be disturbed, I have to return you to your time though so rest assured, it will happen."

"Man..." Sol dragged his hands across his face, groaning in disbelief and impatience. "I fucked up, this is bad... The Emporium, the war I have to-"

"Please refrain from mentioning anything in the future, Sol, I am a being that is fated to perish soon, that I know, and that is all I should know, do not give me a reason to try and change the present and alter our future."

"Understood," Sol obediently complied and rested his head on the back of the chair with another long sigh. "I guess... asking about your past should be fine then, right?" He asked.

"Indeed."

"Okay, were you born a godslayer, or were you chosen?"

"I never knew there were those who could be chosen, what a peculiar question," The godslayer answered, but I understand a little better now, you are incomarably powerful to myself, that is how you ended up so far in the past."

"I'm pretty strong, yeah," Sol flexed his muscles and smiled. "So, this darkness, I already know that she was jealous of HIS children because she could not form the same bond with her child Void, but why did she have to go this far?" Sol asked. "From what I know of her and beings like herself, they are not that hard to get along with."

"I came to the same conclusion as well, the problem they face is one of their nature, not of their personality or beliefs and goals. "Any being can be changed, but those with fixed roles, no matter how hard they try, their ultimate destination is at the end of their assigned purpose by fate."

"Beings such as Darkness and the children they are fixed after, they are fated to follow a linear future, Void, HER below all, HIM above all, the Goddess of Balance; child of the first light, they are all fated to a singular goal that can never be changed, even in death that outcome is inevitable, as is your fate, as is mine."

"I rejected my fate, I already changed it." Sol scoffed. "

"If you did manage to change your fate, then you would not be here, you would not be the Godslayer who rules the Grey in the future, that title is only given to the fated."

"That has nothing to do with fate, I chose to-"

"Then you went along with the paved road, Sol, you are no different from the rest of us, you may be special, but not by that much; fate guides us all, it was your defiance of your fate and role in the linear path of time which led to this outcome, I warn you, if you deviate any further then the consequences will be beyond horrible."

"Deviation, linear fated roads, I dont like nor do I accept a single one of those, every decision I have made is for the benefit of myself and my family and loved ones!" Sol responded heatedly. "Fate can't dictate what I do with my life, that's just a fact, not a wish nor a dream, got it?!"

"Hm..." The Godslayer wearing Han's face shrugged. "I suppose you may do as you please, I will not deviate, so the future may not change, it seems that the future is in trouble because of your actions primarily, such a strong anomalous presence."

"I've had enough of you, the past is not where I belong so do what you're supposed to and send me back to my time, there are people counting on me." Sol shook his head, he hated the topic of fate, everything he had been through, all the power he had gained, he refused to believe after becoming this being that everything was guided by a power that not even he could see.

"Very well," The Godslayer stood.

"I had hoped that the conversation would be to your benefit but I have seemingly offended my successor, I will leave now, Sol Vestic, and I will not live past this moment, please, keep Ikaris safe, we are her Godslayer and her's alone, that is our purpose, even if you deviate from all other paths and become the king of evil itself, never stray from that path, she must forever be Ikaris."

"Don't worry, Ikaris never changes, she never deviates, and I won't ever abandon her."
