Chapter 39 – Miss Rich Girl (1)
“Tiantian, go and take a cold cheesecake over to next door, please.”
He Qingwan was busy with manning the cashier so she asked Su Tian to help.
Su Tian acknowledged her mother’s ask. The “next door” that He Qingwan was referring to was the toy shop. The new girl, on her first day of work, had already came and ordered a month’s worth of desserts.
To this day, Su Tian was a bit baffled when she recalled that one day.
It was the weekend and the dessert shop, geared mostly toward the students, didn’t have a lot of customers inside. Su Tian and Xi Yun were both working on their homework when the door to the shop was pushed open by someone.
A girl walked in sluggishly, walked around in a full circle and checked out all the desserts before she stopped in front of He Qingwan, handed her a stack of $100 bills and said, “Send me one every day. Let’s say one month to start. I am right next door. Here’s the deposit.”
Having said that, she casually pointed at a strawberry mousse cake and said, “Let’s do this one today.”
The dessert shop had already been opened for business for a little while now, but they have yet to see such a generous customer. Ten thousand dollars just like that?
Except that, as far as Su Tian knew, one month’s wage from Uncle Zhao was only $600.
Dumbfounded, He Qingwan took the money from her and counted them once. Ten thousand dollars?
She recounted them one more time. Still $10,000.
He Qingwan wasn’t sure whether it really was a direct result of her training so hard in counting money that she was now able to tell the difference from touch alone, but it seemed like counterfeit money and real money really did feel quite different in one’s hand.
More importantly, they have also installed a bill validator and cameras in the shop.
After the girl had left with the strawberry mousse cake, He Qingwan made a list of all the items in the shop. If there were to provide her with a different type every day, they will cycle through every item in just over one month. Except that she had overpaid, exactly $9,200 in excess to be precise.
Su Tian brought the change and the list of items to go talk to the girl.
Walking inside the toy shop, Su Tian noticed a new lounger that didn’t fit in with the rest of the toy shop and the girl was lying on it, listening to music on her headphones.
After Su Tian had explained her purpose of visit, the girl just skimmed the list quickly and said she didn’t care about the order and, as for that extra nine thousand in change....
“Just put some extra fruit in when you make them and we will call it even.”
She tried the desserts at the shop and they were better than those from the dessert chef at her house. She had been worried that she didn’t pay them enough, but she was a little tight on money right now....
The dessert chef at her place made about $30,000 a month, she thought.
Su Tian paused for a second and said, “My mom always uses the same proportion when she makes desserts. Plus, extra fruits can affect the texture of the desserts as well.”
Not to mention they were talking about $9,000, how much fruit would they need to put in a cake?
Finally, Su Tian insisted on leaving her change behind. After a second thought, she added, “It’s not that safe here. There are thieves and robbers. You might want to put your money away so you don’t end up losing them.”
It was close to $10,000, that’s a lot of money for a small city like this one.
Having said that, Su Tian had no idea whether the girl was listening to her, but she did her part in kindly reminding her. No need to say more, otherwise it would just be irritating.
As soon as she walked out of the toy shop, she stopped in tracks.
Exactly how did she end up meeting another another villain boss in the making again?
