The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 367 Flirts

Chapter 367 Flirts

Upon hearing the obvious wondering what he must have in his mind, a smile was brought across her lips. Indeed, Lexi also never understood why people would make those foolish decisions as she would always go for honesty at first.

It was not that she was judging them or anything of the sort but in her point of view, letting the involved party, especially your partner, know should always come first. Even in Victoria Tang's situation, whether she and Louis Lu wanted a child together or it just happened, still, since they were the parents and have created someone that would connect them for a lifetime, the very least they could do was settle things as both parties would now know what's up.

"That's because not everyone is like you my love," Wrapping her arms around his neck, her gaze traveled across his exhausted yet dashing front. "Not everyone is as brave as you are and I'm lucky." Winking, the corner of her lips curled into a gentle smile because once again, Lexi appreciated that her man was a genuine, honest person— though sometimes a headache would form when it comes to other things. Nevertheless, she never thought that anyone could win in comparison to the only man in her eyes… aside from Frederick Yang of course.

As Ethan Lu heard her last remarks, a blush on his cheeks could not help but show. It was not a daily thing that Lexi was this verbally sweet towards him. After all, his romantic banter has become his daily habit towards her, but something cheesy that coming out of Lexi's mouth, it was rarer than the rarest kind. Therefore, the rollercoaster ride he had tonight felt all the more worth it.

"You are what again?" Resisting the bright grin that was tempting to plaster itself across his entire face, Ethan Lu requested that she should repeat her last remarks as he wanted to hear it again. If he has a choice, he wanted to hear it every single day, or every minute of the day so he could feel more motivated.

"I am lucky," Arching her brows as Lexi giggled while slightly teasing the eager Ethan Lu.

"And why is my love lucky~?"

"Because…" Biting her lower lips as she paused, a sly grin formed on the side of his lips. "Because I am pretty."

"Yes, you are my love but, may I know the other reason?" Pouting his lips a little, he simultaneously raised his brows in an up and down motion as Ethan Lu wrapped his arms around her waist and slightly shook his shoulder.

"I am lucky to have you." Rolling her eyes as hearts and flowers sprinkled suddenly that soon spread across the whole villa. It was as if the whole place could wobble with the sweetness of the two that would surely startle the people who would witness it.

After the two continued to be lovey-dovey with no care in the world, finally, they decided to head back to the master's bedroom. As soon as Ethan Lu assisted Lexi to their bedroom, he went back downstairs to fetch the untouched pizza and some water so she could eat inside the room.

****

Chowing down on the portion of pizza, Lexi was resting her back against the bed's headboard while Ethan Lu had his laptop on his lap to finish some documents to lessen his workload in the morning. After all, he was certain that both of them will wake up a little late and he didn't want to come to the office feeling all grumpy and groggy.

"Love?" After gulping a mouthful of water, Lexi glanced at his laptop screen before she shifted her gaze to see his solemn side profile.

"Hmm?" Without looking away from the monitor screen, Ethan Lu hummed a questioning tune as a response.

"How can you claim that you are a good friend of everyone while not knowing what's happening to them?" Tilting her head to the side, Lexi was rather interested in knowing how he could have absolutely zero clues on what's happening to his friends.

Granted that Lexi only has had fake, user friends in the past. Still, she could safely say that she was, one way or another, had been a good friend as she was always updated and would always be there for them if they needed some company. Hence, from Morris Liu's tight situation in the past, and Lexi meeting all his friends, even Kevin Woo on occasion, and now, Victoria Tang's situation, she wondered what he was doing all this time.

Lexi's harmless question surprisingly made him produce a series of coughs as he realized what she meant. Clearing his throat after recovering, he turned to his side to face Lexi.

"You know my love, I respect everyone's privacy so, unless they tell me, I don't ask."

"But, have you ever thought that sometimes, you have to be the first to reach out for them to open up?" Arching her brows, Lexi didn't mean to argue. However, she thought that sometimes, a person just needed someone to ask how they are because sharing problems with someone wasn't that easy, especially if no one seems to care. She was talking from personal experience at this point.

"*sigh*" Heavily sighing, Ethan Lu slightly raised his hands to his shoulder's level as if conceding defeat. "Alright, I concede. I admit that I am not as good as I claim but I am not bad either. It's just that, we have so many problems to deal with individually and I don't want to deal with other's problems." Stating his honest answer, deep down, he knew that he had been a selfish friend to everyone yet, he still claimed that they were his good friends.

If not for the fact that he fell head over heels for Lexi and that he felt the need to chase her love to the ends of the world, he would not understand what she was saying and would adamantly remain on this twisted mentality of friendship.

"Oh… So, you really never thought that Vic and Lou had a thing?" Nodding in understanding, Lexi wasn't surprised about this confession as she doesn't expect much from the old version of Ethan Lu. After all, he already stated that he was a scum but not the lowest of the low.
