Chapter 10 Building Walls [1]
After leaving the cabin, I walk towards the center of the clearing. The atmosphere around me is filled with anticipation, and a certain air of uncertainty hangs in the air. I stop in the center, carefully observing my surroundings.
I look to one side and then the other, observing the expressions of the gathered elves.
It's not good to walk around naked, so I decide to establish a gesture of goodwill, a way to connect with them on a deeper level. I raise my voice and announce, "As a sign of kindness and unity, I will wear the same attire as you." At this moment, I ask someone to provide a leaf-made loincloth. An elf steps forward and hands me the improvised garment. I thank them with a nod of my head and then conjure a workbench, using the system to create approximately 10 stone axes and 10 stone pickaxes.
With the tools ready, I raise my voice again, calling all capable men to work. They gather before me, awaiting my instructions. I observe the group of about 20 male elves, each of them representing a potential collaborator in the construction of the fortress I plan.
One elf, taller and seemingly more inquisitive, approaches and asks, "How can we build a stone and wood fortress if the forest is alive and has feelings? Wouldn't that be murder?"
Without hesitation, I raise the energy pistol and fire a direct shot, releasing a powerful burst of energy. The discharge hits a nearby target, creating a thunderous boom and sparks that fill the air. The energy is potent and imposing, making it clear that I have control over the situation.
I fix my gaze on the other elves and firmly declare, "Does anyone else have any objections?" The ensuing silence is deafening. Quickly, all the elves bow before me, repeating in unison, "No, sir!"
Satisfied with the response, I realize that I am one step closer to consolidating my leadership in the Vonzy tribe. Now is the time to direct these skilled and hardworking elves towards the construction of the fortress, a symbol of our unity and protection against potential threats.
I take the axes and pickaxes from my inventory and throw them on the ground in front of me. I look at the gathered elves and, with a serious expression, command, "Rise! Take a pickaxe or an axe and follow me. And know that any objection will result in drastic consequences. You won't see the sun rise tomorrow."
The elves begin to rise and approach the tools, each taking a pickaxe or an axe. I observe them attentively, making sure everyone is ready. Then, I address them firmly, saying, "Come!"
I start walking out of the clearing, entering a pristine forest where untouched trees stretch before us. I raise my hand and order, "Strike the trees with the axes, but don't worry about collecting the wood. Just bring down the trees. And for the others, dig without hesitation. Your mission is to extract stones."
The elves, initially surprised by the order, begin to work. The sound of axe strikes echoes through the forest, accompanied by the rhythm of pickaxes against the ground. To their surprise, they realize that the tools are magical, turning the trees into blocks and causing a tree cut in half to remain floating in the air.
The elves' eyes fill with astonishment and admiration, marveling at the magical power of these tools. The work becomes more efficient and fast, with the elves quickly adapting to the new dynamics. The forest transforms into a scene of frenetic activity, with trees falling and stones being extracted.
As I observe the work in progress, satisfied with the impact I am having on these elves, I realize that my presence and abilities are leaving an indelible mark on this tribe.
After observing the elves' work, I gather some wooden blocks from the ground, stacking them carefully for later use. Then, I move towards the holes dug by the elves, picking up the extracted stones. Each collected stone represents one more step towards the construction of my fortress.
As I move from one hole to another, I hear an elf shout in excitement, "Sir! Sir! I found something different!" Intrigued by the novelty, I quicken my pace and swiftly head towards the hole where the call is coming from. Upon arrival, I find the elf holding a handful of coal in their hands. Their eyes shine with excitement and pride, aware of having made a significant discovery.
Leaning on the edge of the hole, I examine the coal in their hands, appreciating its dark color and texture. It is a valuable find, as the coal will serve as an energy source for my future fortress. I thank the elf for the discovery and encourage them to continue exploring for other precious materials, but before I look at them and say, "I will reward you later!"
The elf smiles, thinking they will receive an enhancement item, poor soul, they will receive an extra pickaxe as a reward.
I decide to explore the holes dug by the elves more deeply in search of other surprises. In one of the cavities, another elf calls me eagerly. I rush to them and come face to face with a vein of shiny iron. My eyes light up at the potential of that resource. Iron will be crucial in creating weapons, tools, and more resilient structures for the fortress.
I thank the elf for the find and instruct them to mark the location and continue searching for more iron deposits. The discovery of this material gives us a strategic advantage and strengthens our possibilities for defense and expansion.
As I observe the coal and iron, a sense of accomplishment washes over me. These discoveries are proof that I am on the right path to build a powerful and enduring fortress. With the natural resources at my disposal and my leadership, this tribe of elves will become a force to be reckoned with and respected.
After leaving the cave, I summon my workbench once again and begin creating the items necessary for the next stage of our endeavor. With swift gestures, I materialize a stone furnace and some wooden chests. Using the coal we found, I start melting the iron ore blocks, creating shiny iron ingots. Carefully, I place the ingots in the chest, organizing them along with the previously gathered stones and woods, clearing out my inventory.
Satisfied with the organization of the resources, I set out to search for more stone and wood, closely following the work of the elves who continue extracting these materials. Focused on my activities, I am suddenly interrupted by a distressed cry and sounds of a fight coming from a nearby direction. Immediately, I follow the sound in search of the source of the commotion.
