Chapter 194: Calamity
Chapter 194: Calamity
Back within Mythos, Pier have just arrived with the body of the fallen king on his shoulder. Glade was alive and well of course but, because of the crystal injected on him, it would take a while before he could regain consciousness. Yet, when he does, he will learn that a lot of things have already changed.
"Maybe a few weeks. Not that it's relevant." Pier continued as he viewed the scenery before him.
It was the edge of the Demon Continent of Helios. Yet it didn't have the miasmic feel that it always had which the god found strange. This was, of course, due to Sylph and the elites clearing the [Mythical Creature] out of the rift.
"I wonder how much destruction I should cause before they break the taboos one by one." He continued; thinking of the other gods who were still in the heavenly realm.
There were still a lot of things that Pier needed to accomplish but he didn't mind. He had all the time in the world for all he cares. There was nobody who could stop him. Maybe this was the reason why he got shocked as he felt a presence nearby.
"To think that there would be people tailing me even until here. I must be gaining popularity." He said, making the figure come out to the open and reveal himself.
It was Quinn. The former leader of the elites who had his body holding one of the [Chaos Monarchs] within it. There was a safe distance between them. One which allowed maneuverability and escape if needed yet, close enough for them to hear each other.
"Oh you're more popular than you think." Quinn said in reply.
Even with them talking casually, without even an ounce of killing intent being released, Quinn could feel that his enemy was unlike any other. That no matter how hard he tried, he wouldn't even reach half off the strength of this entity in front of him.
"Look kid, I really have no time for whatever shenanigans you have in mind. I'm having a terrific day you see so I'm going to show you my good side."
"What are you talking about?"
"Now that I'm in front of you, I'm sure you can feel how far the gap between our power is. So, if you step aside, I won't kill you." It was a tempting offer of course but Quinn knew that he couldn't back away. Not with Vask being inside him.
Hence the elite went into stance. Something which Pier found to be a poor choice for a human who seemed intelligent enough to know otherwise.
"Suit yourself." He said dropping Glade to the ground as, a rain of spears followed.
"I don't' know who that is but I'm sure you'd be protecting him." Quinn thought to himself. Watching his enemy stay in the middle of the torrent. Taking the full blow of the attacks as he prevented the fainted elf from being harmed.
"My my. So you do have a brain." Pier continued, deflecting each attack and thinking of something right away.
"Well since you came to play. I might as well entertain myself and stretch out." Pier continued, hitting the spears one by one which met the incoming ones. Effectively negating the attack of Quinn. This much was expected by the human of course and, he charged his ultimate attack casting:
"Singularity."
Quinn knew better than to prolong the fight. He knew that the enemy would take him lightly and would probably drop his guard on the first few minutes of the fight.
That is the only chance he had. He knew that no other opportunity would come after it and so he maximized the move. Placing all of his mana on the swing. Enhancing his body to its limit and, attacking at pinpoint accuracy.
The sea became silent as it was cut in half and so were the clouds in the sky. Just like every other time when it was casted, the world seemed colorless for a moment. Yet, Pier stood there with only a look of annoyance showing. There was a small wound on the god's chest. One which was but a scratch and, the only thing that actually got affected by the attack was Pier's clothes.
"You know that I just got these?" Pier began, snapping his fingers and repairing his clothes right away.
"Well at least you tried right?" Vask said, watching the whole fight and getting impressed by the quick combinations of Quinn. Yet it wasn't at any level that could seriously damage a god.
"Let's just swap places again before things get ugly." Vask continued, with Quinn getting hit by three daggers that came out of nowhere. This was followed by a couple more, making the human drop to his knees as the blood gushed out.
"Judging by your appearance and your actions. This isn't some random encounter." Pier said even before Quinn could respond to Vask. The god then snapped his fingers. Removing all of the wounds which were nothing but an illusion.
"Okay let's try this again since I'm not entirely pissed." Pier stabbed the elite multiple times over. The sensation was as real as it could get. The image of his own blood was vivid. Yet with another snap of his fingers, Pier made everything vanish.
"I am the god of mischief and deceit. Whatever you're trying to pull won't work against me." He said, appearing right in front of Quinn.
Before the human could even respond, Pier took him by the neck and raised him up. Chocking Quinn who was slowly but surely running out of breath. He tried to move out of the hold but Pier was just too powerful for him. Needing only one arm and not even looking serious.
"Take a hint and don't come back." Pier kicked Quinn in the chest, breaking most of the human's ribcage as Quinn came crashing to a nearby forest. His body all torn from the attacks of the god.
"Oh, he dropped his weapon." The god continued, looking at the shattered blade that was used to cast [Singularity].
Meanwhile Quinn was trying his best not to faint or lose consciousness. If he did, he knew that Vask would take over and he wasn't going to let this entity do whatever he wished. Not without his consent at least. Yet as he struggled, it was this same being that saved his consciousness from fully blacking out.
"Are we going to have another episode of Quinn getting his ass kicked? It's not the best show to watch you know." Vask commented. Using some of his powers to heal the vitals of Quinn. Just enough for the human to move again.
"Not yet I still have one trick." Quinn said in reply.
He felt his whole body complaining from the fight. His regenerative skills wont even work in time because he needed to continue moving if he wanted to stop Pier from leaving. Yet all hope was not lost because even in that situation, Quinn had something planned out. One that would make use of Vask.
"You can heal whatever damage is done to me, right?" Quinn began.
"What kind of stupid question is that? Of course I could." Was Vask's monotonous reply making Quinn grin.
"Get ready then." The human advised as he casted:
"Weapon Blink."
Immediately he got back to the location of Pier. The god was still there and so was the unconscious Glade. He then prevented the enemy from moving by casting [Oblivion]. Surprising the god who didn't know that the human could make use of such a skill.
"That was your last chance. Why did you even decide to go back?" Pier commented, preparing to get out of the skill.
Yet Quinn was ready for this. Within his plan was a drastic measure that could only be made use of when the enemy has completely taken him lightly. It was a move that could potentially end his life which would not be possible to use if he didn't have Vask in his body.
Quinn activated Amare's ultimate eye skill. [Eyes of Truth] which came at the cost of decreasing the lifespan of whoever uses it depending on the duration. Yet through it, he knew that all he would be able to see was nothing but the truth of the situation. Without any illusions or fakes. On top of this skill, he used Merlin's [Illusory Vision], enhancing his sight even further. With both beginning to bleed due to the enormous train caused by the skill combination.
Through it he saw Pier casually walking towards him. The one within [Oblivion] was only an illusion as Quinn expected. He waited where he was, making it look like the skill trapping the illusion took an enormous toll on him.
"Come on, just a little bit closer." Quinn thought to himself as he charged up the skill which was about to be released. He knew that his little act could only work to an extent and that, the enemy might be able to figure out he was planning something.
Yet, because Pier was lowering his guard, Quinn was sure that the plan would work. After all, what could he do to damage a god right?
This was the exact mindset which Pier had. Walking towards a trap without him even realizing it. Thinking that Quinn is nothing but a small bug that needed to be squashed. The human didn't even have a weapon anymore. So the level of alarm was even lower. To the point where it's was non-existent. Hence he played entirely within Quinn's plan; entering within range as the human finally casted his skill.
"Calamity!"
In the blink of an eye, the terrain changed into a destructive torrent of mana. It was a skill that made use of every damaging skill that Quinn had at his disposal. Mixing them all together forcefully. The result of this is not only the excessive use of mana but also, an attack that damages even the caster.
Part of the shore got eaten up in the process. With the wind strong enough to destroy the nearby trees. In the middle of it all were both Quinn and Pier. Taking the full blow of the skill as the damage accumulated even on the god.
"HAHAHAH! Now that's the way you should do it!" Vask commented, healing Quinn quickly enough for his body not to be shattered to pieces.
"Let's see how this plays out then." The [Monarch] continued. Waiting for the skill to die out before deciding if he would switch or not hearing even the shouts of the god who was taking mortal damage.
