Chapter 138 - The Scarred Deity Of Wind
"And there she is, that poor girl," Lady Shen Yuan sighed as she looked at the young girl who was standing alongside the 2nd prince. She simply stood next to the 2nd prince without showing any expression on her face. She looked as if she was not a living being, but rather a beautiful statue that could come to life any moment.
Unmoved by the current situation she was in, she looked around the stadium until her eyes landed on two elders who were standing at one of the sections. Her eyes landed on the lady in a white robe.
A smile lit up on her face when she saw Lady Shen Yuan. She bowed down slightly which was returned in the same spirit by Lady Shen Yuan.
It was the only expression she showed but that too was short-lived. The smile faded away once again, only to be replaced by a cold demeanor.
Elder Lin looked at the girl and back at Lady Shen with a complicated gaze. She felt like she was missing some point here.
"That is my little sister," Lady Shen Yuan sighed.
"And also the soon-to-be bride of the royal family," she added as she looked at her sister. Elder Lin widened her eyes in surprise when she heard something unexpected. She had not expected anything for this level.
"It is what it is, we need connections to make things work," she balled up her fingers into a fist as she watched the chariot lift from the sky and make its way towards the seat of the higher delegation.
"She has been a sickly child ever since her childhood," Lady Shen Yuan smiled a bitter smile. "Her cultivation is weak, but her body is made up of pure yin essence."
"So, she is sent to him to not just be his wife but to be his dual cultivation partner?" Elder Lin expressed her shock. If the young miss's body was made up of pure yin essence, then that will explain why anyone will want to marry her despite her weak cultivation and body.
"Lady Shen," Elder Lin looked at her with a worried face.
"It's fine Elder Lin, the whole clan agreed on offering her to the royal family in exchange for permission to run a ritual, which I can not say," she said as she looked at Elder Lin.
"And this stupid agreed despite…" her voice trailed off as her eyes traveled to the 2nd prince and her sister.
Meanwhile, in the crowd of thousands of people, Le Fang Ling was sitting to enjoy the first day of the tournament. Just like any other person here, she was excited to see what and how this tournament worked.
Since she was just an outer court disciple, she was not given a dime of attention by any of the people. And to be honest, she was happy about it.
She wanted to enjoy and learn everything in peace without getting weird glances at her from all sides. That was going to ruin the experience of watching the matches.
Well, it did get ruined by the unexpected explosion and the appearance of the golden chariot with some stupid man flexing his money and status.
'Who the hell makes entrances like this?' she cursed whoever the guy was as she dusted off her clothes.
"That is the 2nd prince of the continent, he is someone you do not want to anger," Nagina's voice echoed in her ears. She looked at her lap where a small white snake was sitting.
"Royal family, yikes!" Le fang ling exclaimed when she learned the identity of the guy. She was thankful she did not whisper what she thought a few moments ago.
But she breathed a sigh of relief a little too early.
"Ehh!! That small snotty brat!!" A shrill voice pierced her ear. "He still looks the same, hahaha!!"
"Feng Po Po!!" Le fang ling hurried to block her mouth but stopped herself when she remembered that she was invisible to many people.
Retracing back her hand, she glared at Feng Po Po.
"Wait, you know him?" she was surprised shitless when she heard her wind fairy call the 2nd prince of the whole continent a snotty brat!!
Look at her guts!!
"Of course I do, back then when I went to meet my big brother in the royal palace, this kid was wiping his nose in one of the curtains of the palace," Feng Po Po narrated the past with a smile on her face. Thinking about back then, she could not help but laugh.
"He was caught red-handed by one of the masters and made to recite the rule of decency of cultivators while kneeling on the ground," she added with a peal of laughter.
When she was pretty much done with narrating everything, she looked at Le fang Ling and the little snake who was watching her as if she was some weirdo.
"Err…." She felt a bit uncomfortable and embarrassed so she started to scratch her neck.
"Pfft…. Wahahaha… That was funny, god!!" Both Le fang Ling and Nagian burst out laughing at once. Wiping the tear that had appeared on the corner of her eyes, Le Fang Ling coughed as she tried to control her laughter.
"That was some dark history," she sighed as she covered her mouth with he palm to stop another wave of laughter that was about to emerge from her mouth. She turned away to look at the ground only to see that the dust has finally settled down.
"Oh, wait there is someone else too," she leaned a bit forward to see another lady who was standing there beside the snotty prince.
She narrowed her eyes to get a clear picture of the lady there but the dust was still making it hard for her to see properly.
"Ahh!" She cried out as she abruptly stood up from her seat, startling a few people around her. Nagina had somehow foreseen this tragedy, so she had moved away from her laps before. If not she would have become a flattened snake.
Le Fang Ling gasped once again as she confirmed that she had indeed seen her before.
"I know her," she clasped her head on her palm as she tried to rummage through her memories to remember where she had seen her.
"The harvest festival!!" she widened her eyes in surprise when she remembered the time she collided with a Nobel-looking lady and her maid in the marketplace. That was the time when Nagian had been out of control.
"I know I MET her there!!" she exclaimed as if she had met her long-lost twin who was lost in a fair.
"But why is she here?" she turned her head to look at the girl again who was now standing on the higher section with the prince waving in the air. Le Fang Ling frowned as she looked at the lone figure of the girl.
She was not with the small girl who ran her mouth before her mind. She could still vividly remember the girl who scolded the hell out of her for colliding with her mistress. That time, they looked as if they were inseparable but now, things looked a bit different.
'Why is she not here with her? And why does she look like it is the end of the world?' She mumbled with concern. The meeting was short but she held that lady in high regard.
"Hey, tell me who is she and what is she doing here?" Le fang Ling asked Nagina.
Immediately, the light blue panel appeared in front of her. It glowed for a bit. When the light finally disappeared, she could see the information written about the lady in that panel.
"Her name is Shen Qinyue," Nagina said as she looked at the girl that was standing with the 2nd prince. Le fang Ling nodded her head as she ran her eyes over the thing written on the tab.
After she was done reading the information that was available to her, she felt as if something heavy has been kept on her shoulder.
"I think the last time you met her, she was enjoying the last bit of her freedom before being a human sacrifice for her Sect and clan," she added.
Le fang Ling said nothing as she nodded her head once again. She frowned as she recalled everything she had read right now. So many things did not make sense.
"She is being traded by her family? This is simply…" she sighed in exhaustion.
"Well, it is what it is." Nagina sighed with her.
Feng Po Po who had been looking at them and hearing their conversation continued staring at them.
"You two think this is weird?" she asked with a slight doubt.
"I mean, when I was still in the mortal world, this was pretty common," she said as she placed herself on one of the seats. She had been hovering all this time in the air.
"I was just a normal cultivator, you know," she said as she wrapped her arms around her knees. Although, she looked mature and an airhead at times, this was the first time both of them had seen her making this face.
"I was made to fuse with a huge magic core of the demonic beast," she said as she lifted her dress and showed her bare thigh.
"My cultivation broke through even the heavenly realms, but at what cost," she sighed as she trailed her hand on the inhumane-looking marks on her skin. It looked as if it belonged to a heinous beast rather than some lady or deity.
"I am just a scarred deity of wind," she chuckled as she hid the legs that once almost claimed her sanity and life.
