The Fake Heiress's Inner Thoughts Were Heard by Her Entire Family

Chapter 160

"Everything has been prepared, President Jing," Assistant Chen reported, standing in front of the desk.

Jing Zeyou shifted his gaze from the computer screen. "Let's take a look," he said, rising and walking toward the CEO's office.

The 'preparation' referred to a computer that Jing Zeyou had arranged - one that would convince Wang Boqi that data had been stolen. Setting up this computer wasn't a simple task, and to maintain secrecy, only Assistant Chen and the Software Development Director were involved.

They had put considerable effort into making the data appear authentic enough to convince Wang Boqi that it belonged to Hengjing Group.

In a separate office within the executive suite, the Director responsible for final checks sat at his workstation, eyes fixed intently on the screen.

Upon seeing Jing Zeyou enter, the Director quickly stood up.

"President."

Jing Zeyou gave a slight nod and approached the computer to examine the prepared 'materials.'

The collaboration launch event with Huarui Group was just days away, and Wang Boqi would likely make his move soon.

Yesterday, Jing Yi had approached Jing Zeyou, saying, "Brother, Wang Boqi seems to be getting anxious." Three consecutive phone calls suggested they were approaching a critical moment.

Lost in thought while looking at his fountain pen, Jing Zeyou mused, "He's indeed planning to use this launch event." The anxiety was good - it meant he'd be less likely to question the authenticity of the data.

Setting down his pen, Jing Zeyou looked up at Jing Yi. "Yi Yi, you can tell Wang Boqi now. Come to Hengjing the day after tomorrow, and I'll handle the rest."

Jing Yi nodded seriously and left Jing Zeyou's study to complete his final task.

Jing Zeyou carefully examined every piece of data on the computer. One mistake would mean total failure.

He had to deal with Wang Boqi and the Wang family decisively - not just for Hengjing, but for Jing Yi as well.

"Here, here, and these areas all need adjustment."

Jing Zeyou pointed out several spots, and both the Director and Assistant Chen hurried over to carefully note his concerns.

...

"Congratulations on wrapping up filming, Zejun," Wen Qingyan approached with a bouquet of flowers.

The affection in Wen Qingyan's eyes was unconcealed. Jing Zejun's gaze flickered slightly as she smiled and accepted the flowers.

"Thank you," she said softly, her voice as gentle as if covered by feathers.

Wen Qingyan's lips curved upward involuntarily, his gaze growing even more tender. He was grateful that Jing Zejun had agreed to take on this role.

During this time, their relationship seemed to have grown closer, as Jing Zejun no longer treated him with the formality reserved for senior colleagues.

The atmosphere in the break room grew quiet once again, with undeniable romantic tension filling the not-so-small space.

Jing Zeyou's assistant had quietly slipped away at some point, as the crew had already figured out the nature of their relationship.

Everyone was even anxiously wondering when Wen Qingyan would finally win her heart.

"When are you planning to return to North River?" Wen Qingyan broke the silence.

He still had some scenes to film, so he couldn't return yet.

Surrounded by the subtle fragrance of the flowers, Jing Zejun smiled and replied, "Tomorrow afternoon's flight."

The crew had planned a wrap party for tonight, but Jing Zejun had decided to leave early as time was getting tight.

She was still worried about the unresolved situation between Jing Yi and Wang Boqi.

Wen Qingyan nodded, lowering his eyes to hide his disappointment - it would be a while before he could see her again.

Holding the flowers, Jing Zejun looked at him sincerely, "Thank you for everything during this time, Brother Qingyan." During the filming, Jing Zejun had noticed a clear improvement in her acting skills.

Though Wen Qingyan hadn't mentioned it, she could feel his dedication.

Wen Qingyan's eyes suddenly constricted, his tone revealing panic, "Have you made your decision?" Hadn't they agreed she would give him an answer later? The filming had just wrapped up, was she already preparing to reject him?

Jing Zejun's words sounded too much like a polite dismissal, as if she was about to say: you're great, but we're not compatible, thank you for taking care of me during this time...

How could Wen Qingyan not be anxious?

Noticing his unusual reaction, Jing Zejun paused, then realized the misunderstanding.

Her eyes sparkled with amusement as she spoke gently, "Brother Qingyan, you've misunderstood. I was simply expressing my gratitude, not..."

Meeting Wen Qingyan's panicked yet loving gaze, Jing Zejun seemed to flinch and her voice trailed off.

She lowered her head to avoid his gaze, tightening her grip on the flowers.

Wen Qingyan smiled while looking down, relieved. He gazed at Jing Zejun, his eyes filled with undissolving affection.

The atmosphere grew tense again, and Jing Zejun appeared somewhat uncomfortable.

He shouldn't push her too hard - getting even a small response from Jing Zejun was already the greatest reward.

Wen Qingyan's lips curved into a smile as he returned to his usual gentle demeanor, "Do you need any help with the situation at the Jing family?"

Though he probably couldn't be of much help given his abilities, and he didn't really know what the Jing family, or rather Jing Yi, was doing.

All he could sense was Jing Zejun's concern for Jing Yi.

Jing Zejun's lips curved into a smile as she said, "It's nothing major, my brother and the others have almost resolved it." At least that's what Jing Yi had told her.

Jing Zejun hadn't told anyone about Jing Yi and Wang Boqi's situation - each additional person who knew increased the risk.

She had privately investigated the Wang family. On the surface, they seemed to maintain a non-confrontational relationship with the Jing family, but higher-ranking noble families were well aware of the Wang family's ambitious designs on North River's status.

Jing Zejun could find very little information, mostly surface-level details that were even less revealing than what she learned from Jing Zeyou.

However, through Jiang Miaomiao's connections, Jing Zejun had discovered some things about Wang Boqi.

Wang Boqi was an extremely cautious person, so much so that he had crafted an almost obsessively 'perfect' image. He seemed to possess almost every quality that would define an ideal man.

There seemed to be nothing about him that Jiang Miaomiao didn't like.

Except for one thing - he strongly disliked being compared to others. Jiang Miaomiao's assistant had occasionally overheard Wang Boqi's barely contained anger from inside rooms.

Especially when he was compared to members of the Jing family.

What Jing Zejun found strange was Wang Boqi's attitude toward her.

She had only met Wang Boqi a few times at formal events, and from her perspective, it would be a stretch to say they were acquainted.

But Wang Boqi's behavior suggested he knew her, and according to Jiang Miaomiao's assistant, Wang Boqi seemed to think she was a very fortunate person.

Fortunate? Was it just because she had been found and brought back by the Jing family?
