Chapter 29: A Blessing and a Curse! I
If the words of the Two-Link Gem Master were to be entirely believed.
If ’they’ would truly do anything to get their hands on Claire, just what possible things could they do?
Those from the Mortal Branch of the Galanis Bloodline, or the Beasts of Corruption they were involved with? And how extensive was the communication between the Galanis Bloodline and Beasts of Corruption? Was it a few select individuals or a group within this powerful part of the Human Lineages, or was it something even more catastrophic?
"..."
He didn’t have the answers yet.
But he couldn’t sit still here as after the information they had gained, they had to make their way back towards Carthage and prepare!
The location and status of Claire herself were the only leading points they had as of right now, and this was their biggest advantage right now as it had to remain a secret.
"We’ll make our way towards Carthage as we wait to hear back from my father and yours. If they deem it safe enough to enter Carthage and plan there, great. If not…"
They could only take it a step at a time.
Alexander turned around and looked at the girl who had stopped shaking, giving her a light smile as he asked.
"Hey, how do you feel about camping?"
Her body was filled with a heavy weight as she knew all of this was happening because of her, but Alexander’s smile and words lifted her up somewhat as she nodded.
"Mmm, take us as high as you can, and let’s cross the Breach. We’ll make our exit silently."
Carthage was hours away. With their capabilities, getting back near Carthage would not be an issue.
Their next steps would unfold as time passed.
With a flash of brilliant blue hue, a barely discernible flash of lighting climbed above the trees, flying high as it began to make its way towards the highest point of the rupture stretching to the skies.
In the skies, Alexander was carried by Claire as her wings of lighting buzzed, his hand clasping a Gem Messenger Device- the one Azazel had given him as he sent his words into it calmly.
"There was a traitor in the Jungle Grounds passing information. The Mortal Branch of the Galanis Bloodline is involved, and their target is Claire…or what they refer to as the Five-Link Gem Blueprint!"
Critical news was passed forth to Azazel as this would soon reach his father!
Until then, they would continue to move by themselves.
Far, far below them.
On the green earth surrounded by trees.
The rectangular casing of ice and frost that contained a Gem Master shattered, flakes of coldness dispersing into countless shards that were carried by the wind…
—
Hours passed.
Within the City of Carthage.
Rows of Gem Masters were lined up behind the powerful auras of the Branch Leaders of the Mortal Branch of the Asmodeus Bloodline.
Branch Leaders Axel and Julius both stood at the forefront of the rows of Gem Masters as they gazed towards a descending Airship, their eyes showing serious gazes as news had already been passed regarding what happened in the Jungle Grounds to Carthage!
A few Airships had left Carthage not too long ago filled with Two-Link Gem Masters led by Three-Link Gem Masters to ensure no issues even though the latest Intel stated that the Breach within a Breach had closed.
And that it was a close call, but the lives of the newly Awakened Jewel of the Mortal Branch of the Asmodeus Bloodline were safe!
Against a surprise attack from a Four-Link Beast of Corruption, she had actually survived as she was currently in the Airship touching down before them.
This whole area was surrounded by Gem Masters as it was the Hangar of Carthage, where many Airships were being designed and built, and also where those coming and going would be stationed.
CLANG!
The Airship touched down, the metal doors opening as the rows of Gem Masters watched intently.
"..."
The eyes of Branch Leader Axel became sharp as blue lightning flashed within them, their rising intensity only cooled when a figure actually peeked out of the metal doors of the Airship!
It was none other than Azazel who looked calmly at the figures of the Branch Leaders and rows of Gem Masters behind them.
They looked like escorts to guard a single being here, a being he didn’t walk out of the Airship with as while gazing at his superiors, Gem Master Azazel actually bowed towards them while speaking out.
"If the Branch Leaders would be so kind as to momentarily board the Airship- Lady Claire and Young Master Alex wish for a word before anything else."
…!
A daring request.
One that made Branch Leader Axel explode with a heavy aura that pressed down over everything nearby as he took heavy steps towards the Airship.
"If even a single hair on my daughter is off while you stand here safe and sound…"
His words were those of immense power and oppression as Azazel kept his head bowed down, his eyes urging Branch Leader Julius to be the first as Alexander’s father took a single step to appear beside Azazel and entered the Airship!
Once both Branch Leaders passed through, the metal doors of the Airship closed- all other Gem Masters only witnessing the cold eyes of Gem Master Azazel as these doors closed shut.
Within the Airship.
The Branch Leaders were led up the stairs, Azazel leading the way in two as his voice retained its respectful tone while speaking.
"I plead for Branch Leaders to control your eruption of power regardless of what you’re about to see next. The safety of Lady Claire and Young Master Alex are paramount. If nothing else, just think of their safety."
Foreboding words echoed out from Azazel as they only caused the pressure that Branch Leader Axel emanated to get heavier, every step that Azazel took being really heavy until he flung the doors to the second level of the Airship!
A dozen or so somber Gem Masters that controlled and maintained the Airship were standing there, and Azazel spoke out to them at this moment.
"All of you can clear out."
A simple command.
But seeing the cold gazes of the Branch Leaders behind Azazel, nobody dared to tarry as they all listened.
"..."
The doors of the Airship opened and closed again as immense silence reigned.
It was only moments later did Azazel’s voice echo out.
"Come out, Lady Claire, Young Master Alex."
Words that acted akin to a signal as from the right, another set of metal doors opened.
There.
From the Doors leading to a control room where the Captain of the Airship would normally be in.
Two hooded figures stepped out.
And the moment they did so, the pressure that Branch Leader Axel radiated out became all that much more intense as he uttered out very slowly.
"Are you fucking with me, Azazel?"
…!
The surroundings vibrated as if a heavy pressure came down!
