The Alpha's Return

Chapter 75 - Separated (Part 2)

"We got transported out of the building?", Michael exclaimed.

"We did.", Praneeth's expression was grim.

"What's the problem?", Michael asked him.

"Look around. Lucas is not with us.", Praneeth said.

"Wait a minute. What?! Lucas is still in the building, but we are not? He is all alone? How the hell did that happen?", Raphael asked.

"I should have known that they had the power to control the portals as well. That was why the portal was placed like that. They wanted us out, so that they could get to Lucas alone.", Praneeth said.

"We can still try and go in, right? The building is right there.", Michael said.

"It is too dangerous. Lucas was our strongest fighter, and he was what gave me the confidence to go to any floor without any worries of sneak attacks. He is the perfect tank, shield and sword. We do not have that trio among us. The people that we have faced are probably the runt of the litter, and going in will only place us in a disadvantageous position.", Praneeth shook his head.

"So then, now what?", Michael asked.

"We wait. We have no other choice.", Praneeth said.

"You have your powers back. Why not try and peer into the building? You might be able to see what is happening.", Angela suggested.

"That is- actually not a bad idea.", Praneeth exclaimed.

"Why are you surprised?", Angela flicked her hair.

"Fine. Guard me. We never know when someone might ambush us. We can never be too safe.", Praneeth said as he sat on the ground in front of the entrance of the alley where they entered from. No one was in the alley, or around it, and it seemed that the place was extremely secluded for some reason, even though it was in the middle of the city.

Praneeth closed his eyes. He took a few deep breaths, and started chanting a few verses.

His third eye started opening. A purple glow came from the eye, and it became a beam of light that was focused on the top floor of the building.

Praneeth started breathing heavily, and in his mind, images started appearing. He could see Lucas walking towards the door with the receptionist, and him opening the door.

Immediately after that, he felt two pairs of eyes on him. He recognized one of them, but not the other one.

"My, my. Why not give us some privacy?", a voice rang in his ears, and Praneeth coughed out some blood. He opened his eyes, and the purple light faded away.

"What happened? What did you see?", Angela asked.

"She knew that I was watching them. Her and Fenrir. She attacked me, while Fenrir did not do anything to stop her. I am afraid that we might have to prepare for the worst.", Praneeth said.

"And what might that be?", Michael asked solemnly.

"I never trusted Fenrir. Lucas, I knew, but Fenrir is too volatile. Now, he is in his element. The apostle of destruction and chaos is in front of the god that is meant to carry out Ragnarok. They are literally meant for each other. That was why, the moment that I heard that Fenrir was awake when I got the news of Ragnarok, I rushed onto a plane, and landed here.", Praneeth said.

"Lucas might defect to their side?", Michael asked.

"I know you were his oldest friend, Michael. That is why I have to prepare you for the worst. If Lucas does not defect, then the marquess will do her best to kill him, just to release Fenrir from within him. And in the nick of the moment, if Fenrir betrays him, and withdraws his powers, then Lucas is dead meat. He will be killed.", Praneeth said.

"Then what the hell are we doing? Let us break down this goddamn building, and get him out of there.", Michael growled as his eyes turned blue.

"This is not the decision that we can take. We are not allowed to show off super human strength in public. Only if Fenrir is outside, we will have to restrain him temporarily until the nearest god comes here to support us.", Praneeth said.

"Even now, you only follow the rules that the gods put. That is why James is dead right now. Why do you have to be so gaddamn uptight? Rules are dead. People are alive. We should prioritize their safety. If we don't, then they will die regardless of they know that werewolves and vampires exist, or not.", Michael shouted at Praneeth.

"This is not a decision that I can take. If we break the rules, we will be stripped of our powers, and we will be tossed down to the mercy of Lucifer. You know how much he hates us. And forget all that, even for the people here, the best thing is to wait, and just hope that our trust in Lucas was not wasted. Let us hope that Lucas can convince Fenrir not to betray us.", Praneeth said.

Michael took a deep breath. He went to the side, and looked at a wall.

"Aaargh!", he shouted with frustration and hit the wall. Cracks appeared where he hit the wall, and nothing more.

"We do nothing. A crazy woman who wants to destroy the world is next to a crazy wolf who is destined to destroy the world. And your opinion is that we wait?", Michael asked Praneeth.

"We wait. That is what I think we should do, and that is what the gods will want us to do.", Praneeth nodded.

"Great. Alright. I will see. If any one dies, then their blood will not be on me after all. All that sin will be on you.", Michael pointed his index finger right in Praneeth's face.

Praneeth did not even flinch. "And I will take that sin to my grave and beyond.", he nodded.
