Xiao Ran and Li Lizhi were just getting to know each other, so they decided to take things slowly and didn’t appear enthusiastic. Xiao Ran didn’t plan to engage in conversation, prepared to sleep. Half an hour later, Li Lizhi quietly got up and checked on the already sleeping Xiao Ran.
Whispering, she called out, “Xiao Ran!”
Xiao Ran pretended to be asleep. Li Lizhi thought Xiao Ran was asleep and gradually approached the dividing line. First with her feet, then her arms, and finally, wrapped in her blanket, she moved to Xiao Ran’s bed.
In the darkness, Xiao Ran sensed something was amiss. However, he smiled slightly, having intentionally slept closer to allow Li Lizhi to approach without worrying too much about being discovered. Li Lizhi thought Xiao Ran was still asleep and was pleased and continued her approach.
She successfully moved to Xiao Ran’s bed, satisfied with the warmth. Despite wearing warmer clothing, she appreciated the comfort of a cozy bed in the winter. Li Lizhi fell asleep content, unconcerned about being discovered the next morning, as she had already prepared an excuse.
Much later, Xiao Ran pulled the quilt for her, seeing Li Lizhi asleep. He then looked at the sleeping Princess Changle and eventually fell asleep himself. In the early morning, Xiao Ran woke up to the beautiful face of Princess Changle. Not wanting to disturb her, he quietly observed.
Sensing Li Lizhi waking up, Xiao Ran immediately pretended to be asleep. Li Lizhi, seeing Xiao Ran awake, wasn’t surprised, remembering her discreet move to his bed last night. Despite having an excuse ready, Li Lizhi was happy that Xiao Ran didn’t notice. This was the best possible outcome. Li Lizhi carefully prepared to leave, and seeing her return to the other side of the dividing line, Xiao Ran pretended he had just woken up.
“Good morning, Your Highness!” Xiao Ran greeted with a smile.
The unexpected greeting caught Li Lizhi off guard, making her feel guilty.
“Early…early!” She stammered.
Xiao Ran, sensing Li Lizhi’s discomfort, left the bedroom. Seeing him go, Li Lizhi began changing clothes on her own. Even though she was wearing thermal underwear, she preferred privacy.
“Your Highness, care to join me for breakfast?” Xiao Ran called out.
“Breakfast?” Li Lizhi questioned.
Xiao Ran remembered the meal schedule of early Datang and explained, “Yes, would you like to try it?”
Li Lizhi hesitated but couldn’t resist the temptation of delicious food. “Okay, but I haven’t finished grooming…”
“No worries, you can freshen up at my place,” Xiao Ran reassured her.
Li Lizhi, curious about the grooming process over a thousand years later, agreed. She followed Xiao Ran to the bathroom, where he had prepared toiletries for her. Xiao Ran explained the usage, and Li Lizhi, feeling like a curious baby, was surprised to find hot water.
“Hot water comes out!” She exclaimed.
“It’s heated up here,” Xiao Ran pointed to the water heater.
Li Lizhi nodded, and when toothpaste and a toothbrush were presented, she admitted, “I don’t know how to use these… Xiao Ran, teach me.”
Xiao Ran, understanding her confusion, demonstrated and explained the proper use of toothpaste and toothbrush while brushing his own teeth.
