Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Chapter 239: Chapter 239 Wan Guliu

"Don't come over, I'm enough here by myself," Lin Shen called out to stop Lin Miao, who wanted to rush over to help. His eyes narrowed slightly, he took a step forward, and dodged Wan Guliu's sword with the posture of Stepping on the Immortal Court.

Almost at the same time, Lin Shen opened the information on his watch, and the smiling face of the Netherworld Sulfur Wolf was once again projected out, forming a not-so-large holographic image above his arm.

It was because of the suppression by the Blood Prison King that the watch could not be activated, but now that the Blood Prison King had lost control, Lin Shen naturally wouldn't leave it unused.

The moment the image of the Netherworld Sulfur Wolf was projected, Wan Guliu's sword, which was like the sun, suddenly erupted with intense light, radiating like a mini sun.

The light and shadows from the holographic image projection were interfered with by the light from the sword, distorting and blurring the image, making it difficult to exert its effects.

Lin Shen could only continue to move quickly, as the Life Base Sword, like a mini sun, kept coming at him with attacks, its speed already quite fast within the realm of the First Turn.

Luckily, Lin Miao understood his intention and didn't rush over to help, just watching from a distance.

Even with their sibling teamwork, they were still no match for so many Ascenders, and the deterrence from the previous punch would also be completely lost.

Lin Miao not coming over was a deterrent in itself, but the deterrence did not come from Lin Miao.

"Although this Wan Guliu is only at the First Turn, he is more troublesome to deal with than Wan Shuiliu," Lin Shen knew he had really met his match.

Although Wan Shuiliu was powerful, he never considered Lin Shen to be a rival, and arrogance was his original sin.

Even though Wan Guliu was far from as strong as Wan Shuiliu, he made Lin Shen feel more troubled.

Lin Shen had thought he was about to scare off all these Ascenders from the Wan Family, but unexpectedly, Wan Guliu turned the tables.

"It just goes to show that one mustn't underestimate these families capable of leaving their home planet; you never know how many talented individuals are among them," Lin Shen sighed inwardly.

"Do you see? He no longer has the ability to launch that strike. He's just a Mutator, at best slightly stronger than an average Mutator, with strength and speed not even on par with a common First Turn Ascender. Let's join forces to kill him, in just an instant," Wan Guliu shouted to the other Ascenders.

He had no other choice, for he possessed only one Life Base, without pets or other Spirit Bases on him.

Wan Guliu was not supposed to be this destitute, but who would have let Wan Shuiliu be his elder brother?

Because Wan Shuiliu had nurtured the Blood Prison King Life Base, all of their family's resources were poured into Wan Shuiliu, hoping to raise his Life Base to the Tenth Turn as soon as possible.

If Wan Shuiliu, who possessed the Blood Prison King Life Base, were born to the Interstellar Wan Family, the Blood Prison King would have reached the Tenth Turn long ago.

Unfortunately, he was born to the Wan Family on the home planet. Though also of the Wan Family, those who stayed on the home planet were, frankly, akin to being eliminated.

The resources and the environment in the universe are naturally far better than on the home planet; anyone with the capability would choose to establish themselves in the universe, so why would they stick to the home planet?

Those who are able to venture out are like the talented individuals who emerge from remote valleys, carving out their own place in the world, whereas those who cannot leave are relatively less capable.

Although Wan Shuiliu could venture into the universe, there is still a big difference between the Wan Family of the home planet and the Hanji Star's Wan Family; resources and other aspects will not be inclined in favor of Wan Shuiliu.

They all bear the surname Wan, but their bloodlines have already branched off.

In order to allow Wan Shuiliu to grow quickly, their branch of the family bloodline did their utmost to support him, and Wan Guliu, being Wan Shuiliu's younger brother, was also willing to give everything he could.

Even though his contributions were insignificant and he could only hunt down some First Turn Ascended Creatures, he gave all the Spirit Base he could obtain to Wan Shuiliu.

Wan Guliu was very clear-headed, knowing that as long as Wan Shuiliu grew strong, as long as he broke through Ascension, only then could their branch of the Wan Family bloodline leave their mother star, and one person's success would lift all associates to heaven.

Yet Wan Shuiliu, the one on whom their family had placed great hopes, was murdered on their mother star by a Mutator. This was nothing less than a catastrophic blow to Wan Guliu's branch of the Wan Family bloodline.

A Seventh Turn Ascender who had nearly no rivals on their mother star had died like that, beyond anyone's expectations. Wan Guliu, too, had found it inconceivable—how could a Mutator kill a Seventh Turn Ascender?

But he no longer had the time to dwell on these issues, for with Wan Shuiliu's death, the Wan Family still had to survive. He had to minimize the losses.

He believed that Lin Shen couldn't unleash a second strike with that same strength. This notion wasn't purely speculative, in fact, he had noticed some details.

When Lin Shen used that terrifying strength, a blood-colored halo bloomed around him.

After using it, Lin Shen's blood-colored halo shattered and rose as if dispersing.

Which was unlike a normal Innate Skill where, after use, the glow would retract normally.

Based on various inferences, Wan Guliu concluded that Lin Shen couldn't launch a second strike. He was prepared to risk a bold gamble.

He needed to retrieve the Blood Prison King Life Base. Only by doing so could he maximally mitigate the loss.

But Wan Guliu couldn't retrieve it himself; he had observed that Lin Shen kept hovering around the Blood Prison King, never straying far from it.

Clearly, Lin Shen also understood the importance of the Blood Prison King and wouldn't allow him to take it.

Wan Guliu also had gained a clear understanding of Lin Shen—up close, Lin Shen had the ability to kill Ascenders, so he must not give Lin Shen the chance.

Now, as long as the other Ascenders attacked Lin Shen together, Lin Shen would undoubtedly die.

Even if he didn't die, as long as he was forced to leave the vicinity of the Blood Prison King, once Wan Guliu got hold of it, Lin Shen would still be on the path to death.

Wan Guliu was relieved that Lin Shen was only a Crystal Base. If he had been an Ascender, even just a First Turn Ascender, he probably would have already used the Blood Prison King.

Then, for these Ascenders, the question wouldn't be about killing Lin Shen, but rather, even escaping would be very difficult.

"Guliu, this man is extremely sly and cunning," an Ascender said. "Just now in his fight with Liu Zhong, he deliberately concealed his true strength, tricking Brother Shuiliu into entering the fray, resulting in a one-strike kill. We must not be deceived by his treachery again. Let's retreat for today and discuss a longer-term strategy afterward..."

Wan Guliu nearly spat blood in anger; he had never expected to have such cowardly teammates, who were pigs only in name, at his side.

Even at this point, they didn't even dare to make a move.

"Haha, are all of the Wan Family's Ascenders such cowards?" Lin Shen laughed heartily, taunting them.

Wan Guliu forcibly suppressed the rage in his heart and said in a grave voice, "You should all be very clear about the orders coming from Hanji Star. If we fail to retrieve the object this time, you should know the consequences. Think carefully."

The Ascenders, who had originally thought to run away without regard for Wan Guliu, hesitated once more upon hearing his words.
