Strongest Mystic

Chapter 52 Zen Focus

Sasha hummed, "Yeah, I also wish… wait what?" She looked at him in confusion.

Seeing his hesitation, Sasha encouraged him to speak, "Ethan, you just talked about communication." He smiled bitterly and said. "I don't know. I am affected by something and now I can't control my thoughts."

"No one can control their thoughts," Sasha said.

"I mean that my thoughts get dark and extreme way too fast. Not even that but my actions have also been unpredictable for a few hours. Only with you am I able to calm down. Still I am afraid that I may do something to you."

"So that picture was true." Sasha looked at him with a worried gaze. "Are you hurt somewhere? Can you tell me in more detail what you are experiencing?"

eαglesnᴏνel Now that he had started speaking, he didn't hide anything from her except the dark, gritty details.

Ethan told her about the events since he met Izora. How he got attracted to the fox woman and then had sex with her. After Sasha called, Ethan was going to meet her and apologize but then he discovered the small room and the events after that. Sasha paled listening to him, her clutch on him tightening.

Ethan didn't tell her about the things he was himself not sure of, like the Berserk and Prophecy ability. Ethan even told her how Remora got affected after she gave unneeded help and then the craziness on the rooftop except his stupid jump from the eight story building.

Sasha felt a surge of horror as he finished his story. She looked at him with disbelief and said, "You need help."

Ethan gave a bitter laugh. "Of course I'm not right in the head."

"No, I mean it." Sasha stood up and grabbed his hand, her voice trembling with worry. "You need medical help. Why did you leave the hospital? You should go back there. They can do something about it. I'll talk to Dr. Emily and other doctors I know."

She tried to pull him up, but he resisted, shaking his head. "I just need some time. Trust me, I'll be fine in a few days."

Sasha let out a frustrated cry. "Ethan, I'm a certified nurse! I can't just ignore this."

She felt a wave of panic wash over her. She had never heard of anything like this before, and her mind raced with terrible possibilities. The worst one was losing him.

Ethan rose and wrapped his arms around her, stroking her hair gently. He whispered in her ear, "Don't worry. Everything will be alright."

But Sasha couldn't stop the tears that should have dried up from flowing. They spilled over her cheeks as she sobbed into his chest. "B-but what if something happens to you? I-I'm scared."

Ethan immediately decided. He opened the system screen again and created a new skill—Zen Focus.

The system had prompted him a better suggestion. Zen focus became a unique ability that could be used both passively and actively. Passively, it would reduce his stress by 2 every hour.

Its active use was similar to a calming pill from the system shop but slightly less effective. Plus point was that it could be used on other people too. If those people had emotional connection and even better a soul connection then the effect would multiply.

As Ethan used Zen focus on Sasha, she felt a sense of tranquility wash over her, as if a cool breeze had blown away all her worries and anxieties. Her tense muscles relaxed.

Sasha looked at him in amazement. He smiled and wiped her tears. "See. I can do it."

Sasha sniffed and asked, "Why did you not use it on yourself before when you were in trouble?"

Ethan used divine sense to survey the surroundings and went near her and whispered in her ear, his hot breath tingling her. "I created this skill just now."

Sasha blanked out. Created? What? Ethan quickly explained about his system. The more Sasha heard, the more she felt like she was in a dream.

Ethan stepped back and smiled as he looked at her dazed expression. But then a frown formed on his face. Why did he tell her this?

The reason he was not telling anyone about the system was clear to him. It was for his own and that person's safety. And now just to make her stop worrying, he spilled the secret.

In no time, Ethan understood why this happened. Since the time he saw her in the park, he couldn't think of anything else but just her. Did he start to like her so much that he'd do such a thing that might bring her harm sometime in the future but calm her down currently? That didn't make sense.

That was why he concluded that the culprit was again the thing that affected him. Ethan had a faint feeling of this that was why he didn't reply to her confession. He didn't want to hurt her later on when he became normal. As in what if he didn't like her as much as he thought he would?

Ethan took a deep breath. At least he felt extremely relaxed. Simon was again right. Sharing one's secret and opening up with someone closed one really made a person feel great. Just then something happened, stunning him.

Sasha got out of stupor and was about to say something when she saw Ethan standing like a statue with closed eyes. It was similar to when he got enlightened. She was again speechless. Wasn't enlightenment really rare?

But then she thought about the impossible to exist 'system' Ethan mentioned and sighed. If it was Ethan then it was possible.

Sasha hesitated and took many steps back. What if he used some new skill again? She bit her lips and looked at him anxiously.

A few seconds ago, Ethan was stunned as he saw the system screen in front of him.
