Chapter 76: Prelude to ??????
[3rd POV]
It was the a couple of days after the date, and not a lot had happened, besides Gwen returning and Korra and her team finding out that Asami's dad was working with the equalists, and was actually the one making most of their weapons.
Asami, Mako, and Bolin had all moved to Air Temple island as a result of this, as otherwise, they'd have nowhere to stay. Considering the pro bending arena was shut down after the failed attack by Amon.
At the moment Gwen was on air temple island, waiting the the three to arrive to give them a tour, due to the insistence of Korra for her being there.
Standing next to Korra, Ikki, Jinora, and Meelo, Gwen watched as the small boat carrying the three had landed at the docks.
"You're finally here! Welcome to Air Temple Island, your new home!" Ikki exclaimed as she waved to them as they walked off the boat onto the docks.
"Yes, welcome to my domain" Meelo said with a grin.
"Well aren't you sweet, little monk child" Bolin cooed, looking at Meelo, before Pabu ran between the childs legs.
"What's that fuzzy creature?" Meelo asked, pointing to Pabu who was sniffing Nala.
"That is a fire ferret. An aboreal mammal common to the bamboo forests of the Central Earth Kingdom" Jinora explained, which just left Meelo even more confused.
Gasping at the sight of the adorable creature, Ikki ran in between her sister and exclaimed "He's cuuute!"
At the sight of her running after him, Pabu hissed and began to run away as she giggled. At the same time, Meelo launched himself into the air, landing on Nala's head and exclaiming "Yip- yip! Fly sky bison! Fly!"
'How does Tenzin take care of those two?' Gwen thought as she watched the...chaotic children run around.
"Thanks for sending the air acolytes to help us with the move" Mako said to Korra, a smile on his face.
"Yes, they've been amazing. Such tireless workers" Asami said, as the air acolytes walked off the boat with a literal tower of bags and luggage, with one of them holding it with his back, and the other supporting it from the behind.
"Oh...I thought you were only bringing a few things?" Korra said, watching the air acolytes struggle with all the luggage they were carrying.
"Trust me, it could have been worse" Mako replied, causing Gwen to glance at the amount.
'Worse than that? There's like 20 cases in total! That's gotta weigh a couple hundred pounds at least' Gwen thought with a eyebrow twitch.
"No problem. Everyone here wants you to feel welcome" Korra said, as they finally began to walk up the stairs to the main island.
"What're you doing here, Gwen?" Bolin asked, causing Gwen to glance at him.
"Korra wanted me to be here to give you a tour or some crap. Honestly I'm not even sure, I was kinda just dragged here" Gwen replied, causing the three to glance at Korra who looked to the side sheepishly.
"You're Korra's teacher, right?" Asami asked, causing Gwen to turn to her and nod.
"In firebending and some...other things" Gwen replied, causing Asami to nod as her question was confirmed.
Meelo decided that was a good moment to cut in, as he staired at Asami and asked "You're pretty. Can I have some of your hair?"
'Meelo really is an...interesting kid' Gwen thought with a sweatdrop.
"Looks like I've got some competition" Mako said with a chuckle at what Meelo had said.
As they made it up the stairs, they stopped in halfway across the walkway leading to the stairs that would take them to the main tower. Turning, Ikki began to speak.
"And now for the grand tour. The flying bisons sleep in those caves down there. And that's the temple Grandpa Aang built. And that's the greenhouse where we grow the vegetables we eat" Ikki said before turning back to the group with a smile.
"I have a couple questions. Is this an all-vegetarian island? Is that where you train air bending? Do we have to wear Air Acolyte clothes? Do we each get our own Sky Bison? And final question: how many trees are there on the island?" Bolin asked Ikki.
"Yes, Yes, No, No, 10,552" Ikki responded, leaving Bolin that he actually got an answer, while Gwen was inwardly questioning the sanity of Tenzin's children.
"So where are we going to be staying?" Mako asked.
"The men and women have different dormitories. I'm sure Jinora could show you where" Gwen cut in, causing Jinora to smile and nod, not minding the idea.
"Meelo, why don't you go with the boys too?" Korra asked, causing the tiny child to turn to Asami.
"We shall meet again soon, beautiful woman" Meelo said, before running off after them Mako, Bolin, and Jinora.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"That is one...unique kid" Gwen muttered, causing Korra to snort, trying not to laugh at what she said.
"My dad says he's special, whatever that means" Ikki cut in, causing Gwen to choke on her spit, while Korra was red faced trying not to laugh at what was said.
"Cmon, your rooms this way" Korra said, causing Asami to turn and follow.
The group walked to the dorm and into the halls of the dorm in silence, before Ikki decided to cut into the silence.
"Asami, did you know Korra likes Gwen?" Ikki said, which got quite the reaction from Korra, who turned to her with what sounded like a strangled scream.
"Hmm? I thought they were together? When we were at the Gala it looked like they were" Asami replied, causing Ikki to nod.
"That's what I thought too! I mean Korra gives Gwen the googl-" "Alright let's get you to the dorm, shall we!" Korra said, dragging Asami with her, fighting down the blush that was forming as she felt Gwen's amused look.
Gwen and Ikki couldn't even react at the door to Asami's new room was slammed in their faces
by an embarrassed Korra.
"Hey!" Ikki exclaimed, before Gwen placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Why don't we leave them be? And you can come help me make those cookies you guys like so much" Gwen said, causing Ikki to turn to her with stars in her eyes.
"Can I have the first cookie?"
"Of course" Gwen replied with a chuckle, causing Ikki to squeal in excitement, and begin to drag Gwen behind her, wanting the delicious cookies that the family had grown addicted to.
A couple hours later after whipping up some cookies, Gwen was on her way back to her apartment, the girls waiting for her there.
'Where should I take the next date at? The Fire Nation or one of the Water Tri-' Gwen was cut off from her thoughts as a notification blared in front of her, as her eyes widened in shock.

That's the end of the chapter!
It is also the start of the next arc, one that'll last a anywhere from 5-10 chapters. Darkseid is one of the few beings in Young Justice that is STILL a threat to Gwen, a major one.
As while she can't really die, that doesn't mean he can't kill everyone else, nor does it mean she can't be sealed away.
Next chapter will be the start of this arc, one that will be incredibly awarding for Gwen, but
also difficult.
Anyways, have a good day!
