Lucas cursed the brothers and understood that if he wanted to gain two loyal subordinates, he needed to kill Sawyer.

Even though Reece and Harper's strength recovered a little, it was not enough to go against a General knight.

Only Harper's advanced spell could kill Sawyer; however, he just used that spell to kill a rank 4 shadow wyvern and his magic sea barely has any magic points.

'With your strength, you are going to die if you go against him.'

After thinking for a moment, Lucas tried to talk sense into them.

'Sorry, young master. We know that it was a suicide but If we don't even try to kill him, there is no meaning in living for us.'

Since Lucas looked like a young master from some family and healed their injuries, they called him young master as they informed their idea of confronting the general knight.

Lucas frowned as his evaluation of them decreased a lot for acting foolish; however, from another perspective, he felt these two would be loyal subordinates for him after seeing how much they care about their friends.

In the end, Lucas could not help but sigh as he looked at the two brothers in front of him before saying, 'I can help you kill him but in return, you will become my followers.'

Reece and Harper raised their brows as they didn't expect Lucas to say those words.

'What do you say? With my help, you can avenge your friends today.'

Before they could say anything, he whispered to them with a slight smile on his face.

As for why he was confident in killing Sawyer was, because of the rank 3 talisman he bought from the sovereign shop.

'Young man, we are grateful you healed our injuries but you should not promise the things you can't guarantee.'

'Young man, please get away from here. If we can kill him, we will find you to repay your help.'

Both Reece and Harper shook their heads as they asked Lucas to get away from the place.

Even though Lucas looked like some family's young master, from his robes, they could say it was not a top family and the chances of him having powerful items to help them were rare.

Moreover, they didn't want their saviour to get killed in the process of them taking revenge.

So, they asked him to leave.

'You are not believing me?'

Lucas pointed his fingers at himself as he asked the brothers and before they could say anything, he walked out of the tree.

"So, if I kill him, you two will become become my followers?"

While walking out of his hiding place, Lucas intentionally spoke in a loud voice while pointing his fingers at Sawyer.

Not only Reece and Harper were shocked by the sudden actions of Lucas, but even Sawyer was surprised to see a quasi-lesser knight.

Sawyer mocked Lucas as he tried to release some wind blades at him; however, the rank 4 shadow wyvern was not letting him take a break.

As soon as he said those words, he drank a red-coloured potion and soon, the aura around Sawyer started changing.

With the sudden boost in his strength, Sawyer pushed back the rank 4 shadow wyvern before tossing three seeds towards Lucas, Reece and Harper.

In no time, the seeds turned into thin vines that wrapped around the three of them.

"These are energy-sucking vines."

As the veteran adventurers, Reece and Harper knew about them; however, they didn't have the time to escape. So, they were bound by the vines as they lay on the ground.

"Let's see who will win now."

Once he was sure that Lucas and others had no way of escaping, he completely focused on the rank 4 shadow wyvern.

Until now, the battle between them ended up as a stalemate; however, after Sawyer drank the strength potion, he was able to dominate the fight.

Nevertheless, the rank 4 shadow wyvern was still keeping up the fight while continuously receiving cuts all over its body.

"It's all because of you young master. You should have just run away."

Reece was angry as he looked at Lucas and shouted at him; however, he was still respectful toward Lucas as he addressed him as a young master.

"Sigh...young master. Why didn't you run away; instead of involving yourself in our troubles?"

Harper was kind-hearted compared to Reece and sighed when he saw Lucas would be dying along with them.

"Also, don't mind his words. Even though he blamed the young master, he was just angry that you got involved with our mess."

Before Lucas could say anything, Harper explained Reece's behaviour.

"It is my own will to get involved in this mess."

However, Lucas shook his head as he continued saying, "So, about the earlier offer. It still stands. As long as you give your word, I can kill him right in front of your eyes."

Even in his current situation, Lucas still has a slight smile on his face as he informed them about his earlier offer.

"Young master….are you telling the truth?"

Finally, Reece and Harper felt there was something off about Lucas after seeing the confident look in his eyes and the smile on his face.

"Why will I lie to you? Actually, I was observing you from the moment you were fighting the shadow wyvern and I liked your quick decisions in the battle and superior leading skills."

While Sawyer was beating the crap out of the rank 4 shadow wyvern, Lucas explained everything from the start.

Of course, he skipped the part when he wanted to kill their entire team.

"Young master, if you can really kill him, I will definitely swear my loyalty to you and do whatever you want me to do."

Reece was the first one to agree to become Lucas' subordinate without thinking much because the only thing he wanted now was to see the death of Sawyer.

"Reece...you?"

Harper was surprised when he heard Reece agree to Lucas' offer so quickly; however, he shook his head and looked at Lucas before saying, "Young master, can you promise me something before I become your follower?"

"Sorry...if it is about 'killing only those who you think deserved to die', then you don't need to become my subordinate."

Before Harper could say what his request was, Lucas replied to him.

According to Lucas, in this world, there was no good or bad, innocent or evil, only the way they look at it.

So, he didn't want a subordinate that hesitated to kill when he ordered it.

"It's not about that."

Surprisingly, Harper shook his head as he continued, "My brothers and sisters who were killed by him have children and I have a duty to protect them now. So, I hope the young master doesn't mind me bringing them with me."

Even though it looked like both Reece and Harper were the leaders of the lightning squad, it was mainly Harper who made the decisions for the squad.

"No problem."

Lucas felt it was not a problem and nodded his head as he said, "From today onwards, you are my subordinates."

"Do you believe our words just like that? We thought you would use some kind of contract to bind our words."

Seeing that Lucas was not taking out any contract, Reece asked with a curious smile.

"There is no need for that. I trust you, guys."

With a slight smile on his face, Lucas replied to the brothers.

"Young master, what if you ever feel like we betrayed you?"

Soon, Harper felt another doubt as he asked Lucas about it.

"You better hope I will not feel that."

Suddenly, Lucas' eyes emitted a cold killing intent that made them cover in a cold sweat.

"Yes, yes."

"We will never think about it even in our dreams."

Reece and Harper nodded their heads.

"Good."

In the next second, Lucas turned into a normal smiling young man as he asked, "So, shall I take care of him?"

In the distance, Sawyer and the rank 4 shadow wyvern's fight had barely come to an end.

Of course, it was Sawyer, who was standing on the shadow wyvern as both he and the shadow wyvern was completely covered in injuries.

"Time to end your damned beast life."

After fighting with the shadow wyvern, Sawyer felt frustrated as he became excited when was about to kill it.

'System, I want to use the rank 3 talisman now.'

Since he felt it was the right time to use the rank 3 talisman, he ordered the system about it.

Consumed a rank 3 talisman 'Lightning spear'.

'Ding,

Please select the target to release the advanced spell 'Lightning spear'.

As soon as he ordered the system, it sent him two system notifications, asking him to choose a target.

Lucas focused on Sawyer's head and as soon as he selected the target, a long lightning spear materialized in front of him out of thin air.

Within no time, it rushed towards Sawyer and since he was focused on dealing the final blow to the shadow wyvern and confident in the vines he used to bind Lucas and others, he didn't think about the lightning spear which pierced through Sawyer's head and blasted it into pieces before he could kill the shadow wyvern.
