Sovereign of the Firmaments

Before Lucas initiated his attack, he checked his surroundings as it was his habit and he was sure that there were no other spirit beasts nearby.

'Wuuu'

Soon, Lucas heard a similar howl from the depths of the Baron grounds of the Myriad primordial forest.

'Looks like it just gave a signal to the other forest mongrels with its earlier howl. I have to kill this rank 2 forest mongrel before the other forest mongrels come here.'

Even though he was surprised that he didn't notice the rank 2 forest mongrel, he didn't think much about it and only focused on killing the rank 2 forest mongrel.

Once he decided it, he rushed towards the rank 2 forest mongrel which was trying to escape from Lucas; however, too bad for it as Lucas threw his rank 3 short swords at the forest mongrel when the distance between them was less than 100 meters.

'Time to get familiar with the terrain.'

Since he knew more forest mongrels would Lucas checked the surroundings as to how he could use them to his advantage.

'Hopefully, there will be more rank 1 forest mongrels.'

After getting familiar with his surroundings, Lucas found a tall tree and settled himself while waiting for the forest mongrels.

Even though killing 1000 rank 1 spirit beasts seemed like an easy task, in reality, it was not because it is very rare to find a rank 1 spirit beast.

Mostly, they live in groups or herds and each group is led by a rank 2 spirit beast or a group of rank 2 spirit beasts or even led by a rank 3 spirit beast.

So, Lucas had to be careful and kill the main leader of the group before fighting the group members.

'Wu wu'

Soon Lucas heard the forest mongrel's howls more and more clearly as he started chanting the spell for his intermediate spell 'Blazing wave'.

Even though it costs him a lot of magic power, Lucas needed to use the spell to kill the leader of the group.

'Growl'

Within no time, Lucas saw a huge five-meter forest mongrel followed by three three-meter forest mongrels appear in his view.

Other than them, there were more than 100 two-meter forest mongrels following their lead as they headed towards Lucas.

'Ding,

The host finished the chant and he could use the spell whenever he wanted within the next one minute.

Soon, Lucas got the system notification and didn't hesitate to move because he needed to cast the spell within one minute.

Using the trees as his cover, Lucas randomly picked a few forest mongrels in the pack and threw his hidden needles to kill them.

'Roar'

The leader of the pack was a rank 3 forest mongrel. Even he was unable to sense Lucas' movement of jumping from one tree to another until 20 of his pack members were killed.

So, he looked at the trees and roared, warning everyone to be careful.

'Ding,

The host killed 20 rank 1 forest mongrels and gained 2 sovereign points.

Lucas' 20 hidden needles took care of the 20 rank 1 forest mongrels as he circled back to his initial position and jumped in front of the rank 3 forest mongrel.

'Roar'

Seeing that a human squire killed 20 of its pack members right in front of it, the rank 3 forest mongrel was very angry as it ordered the three rank 2 forest mongrels to attack Lucas.

'Swoosh'

However, Lucas didn't give them enough time as he rushed towards the rank 3 forest mongrel with his two short swords.

'Is he wanted to die so badly?'

This was the thought in the head of the rank 3 forest mongrel as it waited for Lucas to rush for his head.

'Claw'

The rank 3 spirit beast stopped Lucas' short swords with its claws as it tried to bite Lucas to death.

'Swoosh'

However, with a simple somersault, Lucas rolled over the rank 3 forest mongrel while leaving behind his two short swords.

"Growl"

The rank 3 forest mongrel was surprised; however, when it saw that Lucas was completely surrounded by his rank 2 and rank 1 underling, it had a mocking look in its eyes while looking at Lucas.

"You think I am foolish for getting trapped, right? Sorry to disappoint you, my plan was to get trapped from the beginning."

As soon as he finished his words, Lucas revealed an evil smile on his face as he shouted, 'Blazing wave'

'Boom'

A huge explosion occurred and all the forest mongrels within one-meter radius around Lucas were blasted off.

All of the forest mongrels that were jumping at Lucas didn't have the time to dodge the spell and blasted off into the distance.

'Ding,

The host killed 3 rank 2 forest mongrels and gained 2 sovereign points.

'Ding,

The host killed 10 rank 1 forest mongrels and gained 1 sovereign point.

Even though the rank 1 forest mongrels were more than one meter away from Lucas, they still got burned to death.

'Roar'

As for the rank 3 forest mongrel, it didn't think Lucas to be a mage, not to mention he knows an intermediate spell which injured it severely.

However, the forest mongrel didn't give up the fight because it had numbers and since an apprentice mage would not have much magic power, it thought it could kill Lucas.

So, with a roar, it ordered all the forest mongrels to kill Lucas.

"I was also waiting for it."

Lucas rolled on the ground as he picked his rank 3 short swords as he started killing the forest mongrels one after another as though they were ants.

'Ding,

The host killed two rank 1 forest mongrels.

'Ding,

The host killed three rank 1 forest mongrels.

.

'Ding,

The host killed 10 rank 1 forest mongrels and gained 2 sovereign points.

Lucas was like a killing machine that dodge the incoming attacks from the forest mongrels and killed them in a single attack.

He didn't use two attacks to kill a forest mongrel which made the rank 3 forest mongrel angry and at the same time, he became fearful of Lucas.

'I will silently escape from here.'

With that thought in its head, the rank 3 spirit beast silently escaped into the forest, making Lucas shake his head.

Even though he could kill a rank 3 spirit beast with his rank 3 short swords, he could not catch one if they decided to escape.

So, he only focused on the rank 1 forest mongrels as he had a mission to finish.

'So far, I killed 112 rank 1 forest mongrels. Not bad as I was faster than my calculated time.'

After a few minutes, Lucas finished his killing and silently stored the corpses.

'Anyway, I should not feel relaxed yet.'

Soon, Lucas started searching for the rank 1 spirit beast; however, he only found the group of less than 10, making him waste so much time in searching for them.

'I just want a few more packs like the forest mongrel.'

Lucas felt that after he killed the forest mongrel pack, his killing efficiency decreased a lot and hoped for some large pack.

"Roar"

All of a sudden, Lucas heard a loud roar from the distance.

'Huh? That roar is very powerful.'

Even though Lucas was not powerful enough to sense the strengths of the spirit beasts that were very far and could not be seen by them, he could tell that the spirit beast which roared, was at least a rank 4 spirit beast.

'Judging from the roar, it must be fighting with someone.'

Lucas didn't want to waste his time on that spirit beast; however, he heard the whispers and he was sure that they were humans.

'Let's see whether I can fish in the troubled waters.'

With that thought in his mind, Lucas silently moved towards the location where the fight was ongoing.

Soon, Lucas saw a scene of a black-coloured spirit beast that had a close resemblance like a dragon was fighting a dozen humans.

"Eight tier 5 lesser knights and four tier 5 lesser mages."

With the help of the system, Lucas learned the cultivation of the 12 humans fighting a rank 4 spirit beast called Shadow Wyvern.

'Looks like both sides are in a stalemate.'

With a slight smile on his face, Lucas started thinking about what he had to do next.
