However, before she could pull away, one of the heron's talons swiped at her with crushing force.

Jin Wei's body was hurled across the battlefield, crashing into a boulder, her sword slipping away from her hand. *thoom*

"Argh!" She gasped in pain, her chest heaving as blood soaked her clothes leaving deep internal wounds and her vision darkened at the edges as the strength drained from her body.

"Urgh!" She coughed, more blood spilling from her lips as she clutched her torso.

The heron staggered, one head limp and lifeless, but the other two were still thrashing, though weakened.

Jin Wei tried to rise again, but her legs gave out beneath her and she fell to her knees, panting, her body trembling with fatigue.
