Chapter 140: The Beast Tide [5]
*swish* A large, scorpion-like beast with thick, black armor lunged at Chen Zin, its stinger poised to strike.
Chen Zin's eyes flickered as she sidestepped its attack, dodging with effortless grace and her sword flashed again, sending a slash of flame across the scorpion's armored hide.
The fire spread quickly across the beast's body, and with a flick of her wrist, Chen Zin ignited the flames with a burst of heat, causing the scorpion to explode into fiery embers. *woosh*
Without missing a beat, she raised her sword high and channeled her profound energy into it.
The flames around the blade grew brighter and more intense, swirling into a massive firestorm.
"Blazing Sword Dance!"
Chen Zin leaped into the air, her sword spinning in a rapid whirlwind of flame and as she landed, she unleashed a flurry of fiery slashes, each one creating a wave of searing heat that tore through the horde of spirit beasts below.
*SWOOOSSHHH*
The ground erupted in flames wherever her sword struck, and the beasts caught within her fiery attack were incinerated instantly.
One after another, the beasts fell under her relentless attacks.
She landed gracefully on the scorched earth, the flames still raging around her, her sword, pulsing with heat, glowed a brilliant red as she turned to face the remaining beasts.
The beasts hesitated for a moment, sensing the overwhelming power she wielded and before they could retreat, Chen Zin raised her hand and *woosssh*
A wall of fire erupted from the ground, cutting off the beasts' escape.
Trapped, they had no choice but to charge at her once more.
Chen Zin smirked as she channeled her profound energy into one final attack.
"Flame Incineration!" she muttered, thrusting her sword forward.
A pillar of flame shot out from the tip of her blade, spiraling toward the remaining beasts with incredible speed.
*SWIIISHHH* The firestorm crashed into them with the force of a raging inferno, obliterating everything in its path.
"GUAARGHH!!" The beasts let out one last, desperate screech before they were swallowed by the flames, their forms disintegrating into ashes.
The onlookers were taken aback as a pretty young woman was doing better than them.
"Tch..." Chen Zin clicked her tongue in frustration looking at the beasts raining down from the mountains.
"The hell? How many are there? We would run out of energy... before we kill these beasts. And the reinforcements from the capital are not here yet?"
...
Amid the chaos of battle, Chen Zin stood her ground, her sword flashing as she cleaved through waves of spirit beasts.
*woosh* Flames wreathed around her blade as she unleashed her fiery sword techniques, the heat scorching the air as each strike incinerated the arachnoid creatures that lunged toward her.
Not far away, Ming Yuelin was rushing down the mountainside, her bow drawn tight as she loosed arrows of blazing crimson, each one charged with her powerful Phoenix flames.
Her arrows arced through the air, piercing through the ranks of spirit beasts with explosive force, turning them into smoldering ash as they fell.
Jin Wei also cast a quick glance at Chen Zin and smiled proudly seeing her disciples killing the beasts so easily.
Hm? At this time, she felt two presences rushing down the mountains and her eyes squinted "There are people in the mountain too?"
As she used her profound sense, a mutter left her lips "Seems like they were on the same level as Zin'er."
Each time Ming Yuelin drew her bowstring, a shimmering arrow formed from her flames, and with every release, more beasts crumbled under her power.
But amidst her barrage of fiery arrows, something went wrong.
One of Ming Yuelin's shots, a flaming arrow of immense power, diverged wildly off course.
Instead of striking its intended target, the arrow zipped past the spirit beasts and shot directly toward Chen Zin, who was in the midst of slicing down a spirit beast.
*whoosh* The arrow sped past Chen Zin's cheek, missing her by mere inches.
*gasp* Chen Zin's eyes widened in shock as the heat singed the edge of her hair.
"Huh?" With a quick step, she twisted her body, barely avoiding the blast of Phoenix flames that scorched the ground where she had been standing.
*thoom* The fiery impact exploded behind her, sending a wave of heat that made her scowl in irritation.
"Watch where you're aiming, you half-blind fool!" Chen Zin shouted, her voice sharp as she glared up toward Ming Yuelin, who was jumping down the trees.
Ming Yuelin, who was about to release another arrow, paused and glanced down at Chen Zin with a huff of annoyance. "Half-blind?"
"Maybe if you weren't standing in the way, you wouldn't have to dodge my shots!" she shot back, her tone equally sharp.
Sure, it was her fault, but still...
Xue Hua glanced at the woman and her eyes narrowed 'That woman is powerful as senior sister.'
'More than that...' Her voice trailed off as she turned her gaze to the silver-haired woman who was slicing through the beasts effortlessly.
'What is that monster?'
Chen Zin's eyes narrowed her aura flaring. "Standing in the way? I'm down here, actually fighting! You're just up there, taking potshots at anything that moves!"
Ming Yuelin scoffed, releasing another arrow that exploded into a group of spirit beasts. "Taking potshots? I've taken down more beasts from up here than you have swinging that oversized torch of yours!"
Chen Zin's teeth clenched as she cleaved through another spirit beast with a burst of flame. "Oh, please, you missed your last shot and nearly took my head off!"
"That's because you're so slow, you can't keep up!" Ming Yuelin retorted, firing a rapid flow of arrows toward the approaching spirit beasts, her voice laced with mockery.
"If you were faster, maybe you wouldn't have to worry about dodging."
Chen Zin let out an exasperated sigh, her sword flaring brighter as she cut through more beasts. "Slow? You're the one hiding up there, barely doing any real fighting!"
"I'm doing just fine without stomping around in the dirt like a bull!" Ming Yuelin shot back as she finally jumped toward the battlefield, her bow still glowing with Phoenix flames.
The two women were now within shouting distance, but instead of focusing on the spirit beasts, they locked gazes, their mutual irritation only fueling their argument.
