Rise of the Legendary Emperor

Chapter 186: Plan Failed

Chapter 186: Plan Failed

Don carefully and cautiously took a step towards the Golem while forming a shield around them to prevent the sound from reaching below.

Each step the Golem took, shook the ground beneath him.

When the golem got closer, it threw a punch at him. Seeing the huge stone hand coming at him, he blocked it using his hands. The moment the golem's fist met Don's hand, he was pushed back several steps and his hands had gone numb.

"Knight, I think I'm facing a peak level grandmaster here"

Realizing that he's facing a peak level grandmaster, he had two choices, first, he could go all-in and defeat the golem but he wouldn't be able to keep the shield on to prevent the sounds from reaching below. The second choice was, he could keep the shield on and fight the golem without making any big moves so Arrora could come to him and steal the scrolls while he's fighting.

"Nightmare, are you finished?"

Knight knew Don's predicament as he wanted to reach upstairs before their fight would alert everyone inside the building.

Unlike the golem Don was facing, the golem before Knight wasn't a strong one as Knight was toying with it until Arrora could finish stealing the scrolls.

"Two minutes"

Arrora was looting like crazy, she didn't even open the scrolls as she sent all of them into her space ring.

The golem was struggling to pick a target as one of them was attacking it while the other one was stealing the scrolls that it was meant to protect.

While Arrora was stealing the scrolls, she felt the shock waves coming from upstairs.

The shock waves grew worse by the seconds and even the ceiling had started to crumble and rained dust shower on Arrora.

"Just stay there, you dumb golem"

Knight pushed the golem with his huge paws as the golem struggled to get up.

"Alright, I'm done"

Arrora quickly ran towards Knight and hopped onto his back as Knight quickly shrunk his size. Before the golem could stand on his feet, Knight blasted him away with a force of airwaves and climbed the nearest wall to reach the floor where Don is in.

"Did you see that?"

One youth who was fighting the golem with Chase asked his friend.

"See what?"

"I think I saw something white running on a wall "

"Keep your focus on the battle"

Chase's voice ended their discussion as the two youths continued to battle the golem without thinking about anything else.

"Whoa"

Arrora was startled to see the size of the golem that Don was fighting as this golem looked double the size of the golem Knight had just fought.

"Intruders detecte"

The golem started talking when he saw Knight and Arrora but he was cut midway as Knight punched it on its face. However, Knight's punch didn't push the golem back but he was the one pushed back by the golem.

Knight shook his paw as Arrora ran towards Don.

"Are you alright?"

His robes had many cuts and holes and blood was coming out of his mouth corners.

"Quick, take everything"

Arrora didn't waste any time and started to put everything into her space ring.

Seeing Arrora at work, Don snapped his neck and spat the blood out.

"Knight form a barrier around us, I'll finish this fight"

Since Knight could now form a shield around them, he didn't have to use half of his energy and strength to keep the barrier and fight the golem with his remaining strength. Now he could use his full strength to battle the golem.

Hearing Don's voice in his head, Knight leaped away from the golem and formed a barrier around them.

The golem noticed Arrora stealing all the scrolls and it rushed towards her.

When it saw Don standing on its way, the golem raised its hands in the air and tried to smash him into pieces.

Looking at the huge hands coming at Don, Arrora was terrified. However, unlike before, Don wasn't pushed down as the golem expected but he was holding its hands above his head.

The battle energy rushed towards his hands and strengthened his hand by multiple folds. He gritted his teeth and tightly gripped the golem's hands as small cracks started to appear on the golem's stone hands.

Just as the golem was struggling to free its hands from Don's grip, he landed a kick on the golem's chest and sent it flying a few meters back.

The force of his kick almost broke the wooden stands and the balcony but Knight was quick enough to prevent anything from falling down and drew the attraction of the youths below.

And before the golem could steady itself, Don leaped at the golem and started to punch the golem rapidly with his full strength.

"Let's go"

"So soon?"

Knight was surprised to hear Arrora but when he looked back, he saw the shelves had emptied by her.

"There wasn't too many scrolls here "

Arrora said and looked at Don punching the golem and ripping away the stone skin.

"We should leave this place"

"Aren't we going to the last floor?"

Arrora was confused because they planned to go to the last floor together and steal the scrolls there.

"No, it will be suicide to go there, the energy coming from upstairs is giving me a headache, whatever that thing is, we can't fight it"

While he was aggressively punching the golem, Don heard everything and trusted Knight's judgment since Knight wouldn't have come to this decision unless he was certain that they weren't a match for that thing protecting the last floor.

"Viper, can you throw that golem down?"

Knight asked with an excited evil grin on his face as Arrora stood there without any words to speak.

Even though she knew Don is strong, she couldn't believe that he could lift that thing up and throw it down. However, when she thought that Knight's suggestion was impossible to get it done, she saw a purple fire covering Don's hands as his hand penetrated the golem's chest.

She heard the golem growling and saw it struggling to free itself but before it could achieve that Don lifted it up from the ground using his full strength and threw it downstairs.

"NOOOOO!"

The moment Don threw the golem down and fell on to his one knee, Arrora heard a loud scream coming from the down floor.

"RUN! IT'S A GRANDMASTER"

The youths were using their full strength to fight with a great master golem and they still couldn't beat it so when they saw the grandmaster golem falling from the air, they lost all their hope and started to run towards the exit.

Chase was not an exception to this as she retrieved the flying arrow from her space ring and jumped on it to escape the golems.

While everyone was running away like crazy, Don quickly used the hell flame and melted the ground beneath him to directly reach the first floor where Chase and the youths tried to get in.

Unlike before, Arrora wasn't the only one using the space ring but Don and Knight too raised their hands and put everything into their space rings.

It only took a minute or two to clean the whole place up while the golems were already slaughtered many of the youths who weren't as fast as the youths who had already escaped the building.

The golems were built to protect the library from intruders as their main goal. So when the second golem saw the youths in front of it, it changed its mark and targeted the youths as the imminent threat hence the slaughter.

"Hey"

Arrora felt Don's hand on her hips and quickly turned her head to look at Don but she was already airborne. Flying towards the exit, she realized that he put his hand on her to throw her towards the exit and when she was flying she saw the blood and smashed organs on the ground.

She couldn't help but feel pity for the youths because they fought so hard with a golem to get the scrolls yet, they not only didn't get the scrolls but lost their lives too.

However, she knew very well that even if the youths did beat the first golem, they could have only gotten the scrolls on the first floor because the golems on the upper floor were much stronger than the previous one and even they didn't choose to go to the last floor.

"Grghhhhh"

Don and Knight heard the golems shout when they escaped the building with the help of wind beneath their feet.

When they reached outside, they saw the youths still running from the building as some others lying under the trees tending to their wounds.

"Let's get out of here, quickly"

Knight didn't want the youths to suspect them for anything as they quickly rushed into the woods.

"Hey, you there"

While they were running they heard someone calling them but they didn't turn back.

"Who called us? Do you think someone sees us robbing or suspects us?"

Arrora asked while keeping up with Knight and Don.

"I don't know for sure"

"Why did you throw that golem at the end? We could have gotten out without all that chaos of you hadn't"

"Then we wouldn't have gotten all those scrolls on the first floor, I took a risk by getting those scrolls and I have a feeling that it'll be worth the effort"

"Why are you grinning?"

Knight grinned after he said this and looked at Don.

And just when she opened her mouth to ask again, an arrow flew past her grazing her hand, and hit the tree before her.

"The next one will go through your head, if you take another step"

The three of them stopped running when they heard the voice as Arrora didn't need any help to recognize the voice.

"Chase"
